Carmelo wanted to play in New York, and he got exposed for being a stat padder instead of a winner. Olympic hero, never excelled in the biggest moments in the nba though.
It's a bit simplified. He's a scoring champion and you need to put him on a team where that's what you need. 2013 they had a great team and that's when they should have made it to the ECF, but they came up short against a Pacers team that had an answer for everything.
Most of these guys just refused to adapt to playing off of the ball. Odom though.....that's just sad. He was married to the Kardashian curse at that time. I hate to admit it, but I watched their show because I wanted to see how Lamar was living off the court. His wife was scheming to get Lamar to talk to his father. Lamar refused because his dad was a money grubbing crack head and Lamar knew it was in his best interest to keep his dad out of his life. He even went on to explain how his grand parents raised him and how his dad was an addict for Lamar's entire life. Khloe wasn't having it and went behind his back, invited Lamar's dad over to the house for dinner against his wishes. It was maybe 6 months later that Lamar is smoking crack with his dad, demanding a trade from the Lakers and his game just fell apart. It was sad to see. This man knew his weaknesses and his pitfalls in life. He did the hard thing to cut his dad out of his life and stay on the straight path, and a manipulative wife who just wanted to look good on camera ruined it for him.
I’m a Celtics fan who hates the Lakers with a passion, but can’t help but feel bad for this man. No one deserves to have something like that happen to them. His story is just sad.
Odom acted outta pure emotion demanding that trade. He thought the Lakers saw him as family after winning 2 titles with them and felt betrayed. If he had a time machine i think he woulda taken the demand back
A couple of these players declined not just because their game declined due to age, but because when they got more help, they were unable to adapt. With better teammates, your minutes, touches will go down, and the ball will be in your hands less. Being able to still be effective and efficient in those reduced roles like learning to play off the ball more is vital for team success.
BUT that was kinda Lakers' fault for basically putting him on trading block. Then, when it didn't go through, it basically messed up that whole team chemistry

In the 2015 offseason, Joakim Noah went to the Knicks in free agency, but it was technically viewed as a sign-and-trade deal. Once he went to the Knicks, the production on both ends of the ball dropped severely. He averaged just 5.0 PPG and 5.2 RPG in his first season with the Knicks. Injuries began to pile up, and Noah couldn’t even last for 50 games in a season. Noah would have been much better off in Chicago, where they knew how and where to use him on both sides of the floor. Instead, his career withered away in one of the worst contracts ever given out in Knicks history.

Melo may be one of the best college players to go pro. Meaning he was a GREAT college level player and a mid pro level player. No MVPs, no finals appearances, no all star MVPs, NOTHING! Iverson was just mishandled by the 76ers. They were suppose to go all out in bringing talent to Philly the season after they lost to LA. Imagine if iverson played today. Teams would give him all the talent in the world. But I never expected greatness from melo after he lost to Kobe in Denver. He was done after that series.
Hibbert was good during the endtimes of the era of the big men dominating the league, when players became more versatile his old school style really got exposed… He wouldn’t survive if he came to the league now, tho he wouldn’t be even drafted in the first place tbh.. 😂
1. I disagree, Anthony career started to decline while being final years in NYK, injury just speed up the decline 2. Westbrook relying just on athleticism was his weak point 5. Hibert became victim of small ball. So in these cases this nothing to do with trades only with player mindset and skillset

dwade literally could’ve been a career player with the heat
Anybody remember when Boozer took a marker to his head and drew in hair
Melo chased money, Melo won nothing.
You love to see it.
Of all the players in this list when it comes to having the quickest declines for any NBA player, it had to be Roy Hibbert
I think Odom fell off faster.
@@atsk3281 you do got a point there. I guess the off court issues and personal issues made it worse and made his fall off even faster. a shame since he was really good with the lakers.
They are unstoppable before on their prime but they are go old and injuries are facing, the big what if for me is MVP D-ROSE, HE nearly beat the big 3s of miami 3 star player against 1mvp player
Lamar traded Khloe for crack. Thats a lopsided trade
i’d take the crack
If Melo wanted a ring, he would’ve went to Miami and toke a pay cut. Bro chased the bag and stats instead SMFH
Odom had a LOT of mental health issues. I hope he is doing better.
As a bench player is insane 😂
Ben Simmons & Harden needed to be in this video 😢
Steve Francis being traded from the rockets to the magic messed him up big time…he did well in Orlando for a couple of games, but after the team traded Cuttino Mobley to Sacramento, Steve Francis was out of it…..smh…….
a good thing Odom recovered on his life.
Melo shouldn't met George Karl instead of Coach Brown
Melo may be one of the best college players to go pro. Meaning he was a GREAT college level player and a mid pro level player. No MVPs, no finals appearances, no all star MVPs, NOTHING! Iverson was just mishandled by the 76ers. They were suppose to go all out in bringing talent to Philly the season after they lost to LA. Imagine if iverson played today. Teams would give him all the talent in the world. But I never expected greatness from melo after he lost to Kobe in Denver. He was done after that series.
Odom was hit by the Kardashian curse
6:46 bro became westbrick
Hibbert was good during the endtimes of the era of the big men dominating the league, when players became more versatile his old school style really got exposed… He wouldn’t survive if he came to the league now, tho he wouldn’t be even drafted in the first place tbh.. 😂
ChokeMelo and Westbrick, superstars that never were and really weren't
1. I disagree, Anthony career started to decline while being final years in NYK, injury just speed up the decline
2. Westbrook relying just on athleticism was his weak point
5. Hibert became victim of small ball.
So in these cases this nothing to do with trades only with player mindset and skillset
Westbrook weakness is his basketball IQ is basically has 0 of them
Tmac also when Got traded after his stint with Rockets I know it's not single but he ruined
hibbert is actually missing to the lakers right now😅
Ai also has been righting his wrongs and become a fan of the new generation and mentoring.
HELL NO MELO IN 75TH TEAM.... 7 SEASONS.. 3 PLAYOFF ??? HOW THE FXXK HE IN 75TH TEAM??
Brutal 😅
Steve Francis and Ben Gordon could make this list.
