To be fair to Scott’s response, I feel like it’s a bit difficult to respond the same way as before when he is actively receiving threats from people that they are going to go to his house to kill him and his children and his pregnant wife.

He's "retiring" because he's receiving death threats and the lives of his children and pregnant wife are being threatened. It's not a poor choice to do that considering, like you said, that people are taking this way too far.
I don't support who Scott Supported. But I support Scott. The man has changed my life, and many other people's lives. I'm not going the cancel the man because he thinks different then me. And people had no right to threaten him, or his family.

In my opinion, some people deserve to be deplatformed but not because of some jokes or political beliefs or anything of that sort. This story disgusts me. People are allowed their political beliefs even if I don't always agree with everybody... I strongly disagree with Scott's political beliefs, personally but he is a kind man and it's his choice. His right. But I also think that Scott handled it poorly. I'm a part of the LGBTQ+ community and I have my personal opinions, of course. I'm disappointed and upset but he shouldn't be canceled at the end of the day.

@@cosmicowmix7154 the community is not homophobic nor delusional, as a part of the LGBTQ+ community I can say that while he may have donated to organizations/politicians who happen to have opinions on the lgbtq, that is not the one and only thing that they are, there is way more to politics than people’s sexual and gender representation. While it isn’t a moral thing to think same sex relations or “out of the box” ideas are bad, you have to take in the fact that it is and will always be an opinion no matter what. Does it mean it gives someone the rights to aggressively act and/or harass someone because of their opinions/beliefs? No, absolutely not, whether left or right, it’s not okay to do that, but it is okay to have an individual set of belief and opinion. Countless amounts of people have mixed opinions that vary from being left wing and right wing. I’m conclusion, I just wanted to say that he is a grown man with his own responsibilities, family, and overall just another human citizen and he IS allowed to have his own mentality.
I think the fandom will be okay. Every fandom has bumps but as long as you can still enjoy the games, the friends you have made through the fan base, but more importantly as long as you still we still believe that we can have fun than it will be okay.

If Scott donated to democrats instead of republicans, they would have some bad things in their minds too. Personally I think it was great for Scott to stick to his guns and say, "Hey this how I am, this is my opinion, my life". I dont support the people and causes that he donated to but I cant help but respect him for staying strong and sticking to what he believes in. Y’all if he retired then he retired. Not to be rude but what he does is his choice no one controls anyone. If he retired because of everything that happened then I honestly think that’s a good thing. People would continue to hate anyways and I think it’s a good choice. I respect his choice
1) I sympathize with feeling betrayed, however we’ve known since the beginning that Scott was a normal person who had political and religious beliefs just trying to spread positivity and move in a direction he thought was best. Since the beginning. His games were originally religious and we’ve known this. 2) Just because he donated to these people doesn’t mean he did it with harmful intent. Those politicians have many policies and you can support some and not the others. It’s the exact same as donating to the Clintons or Kamala Harris and supporting some of their policies despite the fact that they’ve both done terrible things to the black community. 3) I think we should be judging Scott based on his actions. For YEARS he has been one of the single most inclusive and loving developers in the gaming community. We ALL know how much he genuinely cares for his base. We should NOT be judging him for some loose assumptions we are making about his political agenda. No matter what someone’s politics are if they are a good person they are a good person. The “all conservatives are racist and homophobic” line is just naive. It’s like saying all democrats are communists. It’s naive and ignorant. For each person it depends on what individual ideas and things they actually support rather than what group they are in. But there are things we know about Scott for sure. We know he donated way more to St. Jude, we know he participates in many content creators charity streams and donates a lot, and we know he is boosting small fnaf creators and helping them and giving them publicity. We know he has NEVER discriminated against anyone in his fan base for whatever reason. It’s so ignorant to me that people are just ignoring this because they think he has some agenda to push. He has the right of any other person to believe whatever he wants. If he donated to Bernie Sanders would people be disowning and bashing Scott for being a supposed communist? No. Scott is a normal person and he has no history of actually believing the things people are saying he supports. He actually lists EXACTLY what he believes in his address. If we go off of evidence, his past actions, and his statement we would say Scott is not guilty of any of these things. If you are naive and ignorant enough to say that just because he leans conservative that he’s homophobic, are you really any more inclusive, thoughtful, or caring? I had great expectations for this community to accept people regardless of their beliefs. Yes there are some beliefs that are harmful and hateful, but if you think about it…most people in the entire world only hold their beliefs with positive intent and aren’t looking to hurt anyone. Way too many people are misunderstood and if we start looking at individuals as if their beliefs and choices are coming from a good place, with good intent, then maybe we can start getting along despite all of our beautiful differences. 4) I thoroughly read his response and I think taking it in the way of “he was shaming people who didn’t give him the benefit of the doubt” is not exactly correct. I think he expected that people would understand him after all these years because of his actions. I think he was merely defending himself and explaining himself in the post, no? He said he wasn’t apologetic because he is not actually homophobic. This is all under the assumption that his actions were neither right nor wrong, they were just his actions. Whereas John came to his conclusions under the assumption that Scott’s actions were undoubtedly wrong and had negative consequences. Yes, it was wrong of him to assume that the entire base would understand the he has and always will accept and love the community just because of his minimal actions and interactions with us. Yes people were hurt. I think it would’ve been nice if he gave that solace to the people who were hurt by apologizing. Maybe not for his beliefs, but for the fact that they were hurt. When you are attacked it’s not like you are focusing on your defenders so he probably felt very outcast. And I don’t think he’s leaving because “people don’t agree or aren’t defending him” I think it’s more because he doesn’t want to do more damage. He’s not saying he’ll leave if the community doesn’t accept him, he said he’ll leave if he’s cancelled. Idk that seemed fine with me because what else is he supposed to do if he’s cancelled? When he says “those things didn’t have value” he means his fame and money. He’s not saying the community or his games because in the beginning of the statement he says he’ll always love the community. Also 9:30 was a false statement overall because Scott didn’t say the politicians had the best interests in mind for lgbtq+ people, they had the best interests in minds for their people in general (is how Scott saw it). He said they’d benefit more from what’s good for the people overall and never even said anything how the politicians saw lgbtq+ people.
For your second point, it doesn't really matter if he didn't have harmful intent, that funding he gave them is going to be used to try and harm LGBT people. It's like donating to the Catholic church, wether your intend to or not, your donations will be used to help relocate and cover up abusive priests. Actions have consequences, even if it's not the intended ones.
@@curiouspeanut like I said, it’s the same as donating to a Clinton who had someone killed or whatever other conspiracy (this is an example). In many cases there are only two people to support and in his address he expressed that he was trying to pick the people he thought would do the most good. Most politicians while in office don’t actually get many things done because our systems take a long time to go through. First of all it’s illegal to systematically discriminate based on age, race, sex, gender, religion etc. Some communities pass laws like not allowing marriage or allowing you to not hire, but those are being gotten rid of as the boomers keep dying off. Those politicians may say they don’t support the lgbtq+ community, but they can’t do anything about that bias unless the majority of the people in their state or community believe the same thing, which is unlikely, because you can vote for someone for their other policies which you believe are for the overall benefit. But in the end if they wanted to pass something like that they’d have to have overall community support…for we are not a dictatorship :D I wouldn’t support those trashy types of people unless I believed they were the lesser of the two evils, like I think Scott did.

It's easy for people to be "respectful" of others if it isn't actively threatening THEM because it's not something they actually have to care about, so their "respect" is usually just indifference. Obviously I don't know you, but whether or not you are in a demographic that society shits on, if someone is actively trying to hurt you, not just talking and discussing their opinions--actually writing laws that ban you from equal rights and treatment, is it really best to just explain your case, or should you take more proactive action than only hoping someone will first listen with an open mind and then actually be convinced? I'm all for respectful discussion, but not the idea that the people being hurt are supposed to lay down and take it because it's being "respectful" while the people hurting them are just "having an opinion." Real people are being hurt every day in very real ways, not just because someone had a different opinion, but because those opinions were actively harmful and other people supported them and elected people to the government to put their actually-harmful "opinions" into law where it affects actual lives and real people.

I'm hurt by what he's done, but he certainly doesn't deserve the doxxing and hate that he's getting. But that said, I still disagree with him and I hate to say it, but I've lost respect for him. @@CartoDarko Yeah, I could've worded that better. I just kinda mean that it didn't feel too great to have someone that you look up to donating to people that make your life worse in the long run. I still respect him in most aspects, but it's made complicated by this and I don't really know how to explain it.
I love Scott and his work will slyds be great. I can still enjoy his work but I can't reasonably spend any money on fnaf related stuff anymore knowing where this money will go. Basically yes, he was not a good president as a person, but when I watched a documentary about him (I strongly suggest watching it, it was interesting!) it did show what he can do with money and that was impressive. So yes, while he did a lot of personal harm and probably even more (as I said I'm not too keen on American politics) he did had some potential when it came to economic which Scott mentioned was his focus. All people especially politicians have their worse and betters, and yes often the worse is more overwhelming but in a situation (JUST GIVING A RANDOM EXAMPLE) when you have a person who seems questionably moral-ed, but let's say for whatever reason good at between country politics and the country needs someone who'll take care of international relations, is whoever votes on them to blame since that's what the country needs at the moment?

John, with all due respect, I don’t think he was being manipulative. I think Scott said these things because he was kinda upset and hurt that people didn’t give him the benefit of the doubt. It’s hard to make a good response with people doxxing you and harassing you over just a few days, especially since he genuinely cares about this community. It shocked him, his family, and he may have snapped in the moment. I respect and agree with you that doxxing, shutting down opinions, and being disrespectful is wrong, and that both sides were in the wrong, but I don’t think he was using those things against us. But I also agree that his response felt off, especially since I read it in-depth and skimmed it. I also read the comments, both supportive and non-supportive.
sometimes people will say manipulative things without even realizing it, that’s probably the case since he was likely very emotional when writing his response hopefully when the dust settles more, things are able to clear up a bit

Everyone in that situation was incredibly aggressive, both for and against. I think Scott's response was in a panic since people kept sending threats. Scott is not the most social person, he caring but in situations like these he might panic and do something that doesn't end well. Not because he's bad, he just has a bit of difficulty expressing his reasons properly.

hello, perspective from a 19 year old lesbian from the same place as Scott here, in case anyone was interested (I know you didn’t ask). i think it’s sad that this is the way that things have happened. he is very clearly not an evil person, though I’m not going to argue that the politicians he donated to aren’t. I don’t know him. but I know a lot of people like him, because there are a lot of people with similar opinions (from what I can see) in Texas, where I grew up. I think that most of these people genuinely have love in their hearts and want to see the best for everyone. and that sometimes what they think is best is misguided. part of that is because people don’t take time to listen to minorities’ actual struggles (whether it’s lgbtqia+ people or people of color or someone of a different religion) and they assume they know what is best. and part of it is that a lot of people go their whole lives surrounded by bigotry and they have to find a way to be empathetic towards the people they know nothing about. I agree that he should have handled it differently as far as his response went. The post looked like it was upset and in the moment to me, which doesn’t do anyone any good, and he certainly could have taken time to think and gather himself before making a statement. as a member of the lgbtqia+ community, it’s disappointing and disheartening to see money going from someone who is so many people’s idol to someone who is actively trying to make me sub-human, discriminate against me, and generally make my life worse. On the separating art from the artists thing, just my opinion here: once you know that, it’s hard to look at something you loved and devoted hours and hours of your life to and wonder if the dollars you spent were used to try and make your life worse, or move steps backwards for your community. it’s sort of an identity crisis, on one hand you have something that you love and admire -it’s hard to just decide to find a new piece of entertainment because you dislike the creator of it. and on the other you have your identity, something that you can’t change, that makes up who you are, something that if you take any step against feels like a knife in your own back, like you’re running around and pushing down your friends. some people cannot separate the art from the artist, or in this case, the game from the dev. and it’s understandable- you don’t want to feel like you’re pushing yourself backwards just to play a game. please, if you can’t understand why people cannot separate this two things and why they would chose to leave the community, respect their decision. and please don’t hate the people who chose to separate art from artist. For some, the fnaf community is part of their identity as well, and it’s not an either or situation- there is no option to give up either part of their identity. like I said, I don’t think Scott is a bad person. I am sad that he feels like this is the way to keep the best interests of lgbt people in mind when, like John said if it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it’s a duck. I hope that he chooses to listen to the voices of members of the community and educate himself as to why we are disappointed or angry. I hope that he uses this opportunity to learn and grow, and continues to do what he clearly loves, instead of choosing this to be the hill he dies on. He has done so much good for so many people in the world, and while I don’t agree that it excuses this choice, I also don’t think it should be ignored. He most certainly doesn’t deserve to be doxxed, or sent death threats, especially not to his family who have absolutely nothing to do to this. the most important thing to remember is to be kind, and patient, and do your best to be the change you want to see. Listen to other people’s opinions before you shoot them down and respect people’s emotional reactions. I firmly believe that the community can move past this and I hope that it is an opportunity for Scott to educate himself and learn from his actions.

I just wanted to say this. Why does everyone just realise now that he is a conservative??? Like I'm apart of the LGBTQ+ community and I havent lost any respect for this man because of his donations. There are MANY sides to each politician and you donate to one usually because they have something that no one else has to offer or they have the best plan. You may not always agree with all of their ideals. But that has to go on a back burner to boost the economy because america is a democracy and there will be opposition from other members and politicians if they want LGBTQ rights taken away or something like that. I'm disappointed in his actions cause I don't think someone can simultaneously want the GOP to be in power and also support queer people. As long as the GOP continues to pass anti-queer legislation and openly oppose gay marriage, you can't support queer people and support that party. Kinda lost some respect I had for John after this video, it hurts to see him distance himself from Scott over something everyone has- a political opinion. Scott’s response was the best it could be.
Called this as soon as I heard he had a long history of making random Christian games; Scott’s personal beliefs were always going to become problematic in the eyes of the socially woke parts of the fandom. It doesn’t help that a community which will go unnamed is exceptionally sensitive to all but constant praise and spotlighting, one that will absolutely go to the lengths of threats, doxxing or even legal action to force you into submission.
Update: This video was uploaded BEFORE Scott announced his retirement. I still stand by everything I said, please don’t send hate to Scott or anyone for that matter. Heres my opinion: we shouldnt cancel scott, we actually shouldnt cancel anyone, cancel culture is the worst part about the internet, the absolute worst. If you do not like a person or their opinions, do not support them.
In my opinion, some people deserve to be deplatformed but not because of some jokes or political beliefs or anything of that sort. This story disgusts me. People are allowed their political beliefs even if I don't always agree with everybody... I strongly disagree with Scott's political beliefs, personally but he is a kind man and it's his choice. His right. But I also think that Scott handled it poorly. I'm a part of the LGBTQ+ community and I have my personal opinions, of course. I'm disappointed and upset but he shouldn't be canceled at the end of the day.

While it isn’t a moral thing to think same sex relations or “out of the box” ideas are bad, you have to take in the fact that it is and will always be an opinion no matter what. Does it mean it gives someone the rights to aggressively act and/or harass someone because of their opinions/beliefs? No, absolutely not, whether left or right, it’s not okay to do that, but it is okay to have an individual set of belief and opinion. Countless amounts of people have mixed opinions that vary from being left wing and right wing. Personally I think it was great for Scott to stick to his guns and say, "Hey this how I am, this is my opinion, my life". 1) I sympathize with feeling betrayed, however we’ve known since the beginning that Scott was a normal person who had political and religious beliefs just trying to spread positivity and move in a direction he thought was best. Since the beginning. His games were originally religious and we’ve known this.
2) Just because he donated to these people doesn’t mean he did it with harmful intent. Those politicians have many policies and you can support some and not the others. It’s the exact same as donating to the Clintons or Kamala Harris and supporting some of their policies despite the fact that they’ve both done terrible things to the black community.
3) I think we should be judging Scott based on his actions. For YEARS he has been one of the single most inclusive and loving developers in the gaming community. We ALL know how much he genuinely cares for his base. We should NOT be judging him for some loose assumptions we are making about his political agenda. No matter what someone’s politics are if they are a good person they are a good person. The “all conservatives are racist and homophobic” line is just naive. It’s like saying all democrats are communists. It’s naive and ignorant. For each person it depends on what individual ideas and things they actually support rather than what group they are in. But there are things we know about Scott for sure. We know he donated way more to St. Jude, we know he participates in many content creators charity streams and donates a lot, and we know he is boosting small fnaf creators and helping them and giving them publicity. We know he has NEVER discriminated against anyone in his fan base for whatever reason. It’s so ignorant to me that people are just ignoring this because they think he has some agenda to push. He has the right of any other person to believe whatever he wants. If he donated to Bernie Sanders would people be disowning and bashing Scott for being a supposed communist? No. Scott is a normal person and he has no history of actually believing the things people are saying he supports. He actually lists EXACTLY what he believes in his address. If we go off of evidence, his past actions, and his statement we would say Scott is not guilty of any of these things. If you are naive and ignorant enough to say that just because he leans conservative that he’s homophobic, are you really any more inclusive, thoughtful, or caring? I had great expectations for this community to accept people regardless of their beliefs. Yes there are some beliefs that are harmful and hateful, but if you think about it…most people in the entire world only hold their beliefs with positive intent and aren’t looking to hurt anyone. Way too many people are misunderstood and if we start looking at individuals as if their beliefs and choices are coming from a good place, with good intent, then maybe we can start getting along despite all of our beautiful differences.
4) I thoroughly read his response and I think taking it in the way of “he was shaming people who didn’t give him the benefit of the doubt” is not exactly correct. I think he expected that people would understand him after all these years because of his actions. I think he was merely defending himself and explaining himself in the post, no? He said he wasn’t apologetic because he is not actually homophobic. This is all under the assumption that his actions were neither right nor wrong, they were just his actions. Whereas John came to his conclusions under the assumption that Scott’s actions were undoubtedly wrong and had negative consequences. Yes, it was wrong of him to assume that the entire base would understand the he has and always will accept and love the community just because of his minimal actions and interactions with us. Yes people were hurt. I think it would’ve been nice if he gave that solace to the people who were hurt by apologizing. Maybe not for his beliefs, but for the fact that they were hurt. When you are attacked it’s not like you are focusing on your defenders so he probably felt very outcast. And I don’t think he’s leaving because “people don’t agree or aren’t defending him” I think it’s more because he doesn’t want to do more damage. He’s not saying he’ll leave if the community doesn’t accept him, he said he’ll leave if he’s cancelled. Idk that seemed fine with me because what else is he supposed to do if he’s cancelled? When he says “those things didn’t have value” he means his fame and money. He’s not saying the community or his games because in the beginning of the statement he says he’ll always love the community. Also 9:30 was a false statement overall because Scott didn’t say the politicians had the best interests in mind for lgbtq+ people, they had the best interests in minds for their people in general (is how Scott saw it). He said they’d benefit more from what’s good for the people overall and never even said anything how the politicians saw lgbtq+ people.

It's like donating to the Catholic church, wether your intend to or not, your donations will be used to help relocate and cover up abusive priests.

In many cases there are only two people to support and in his address he expressed that he was trying to pick the people he thought would do the most good. Most politicians while in office don’t actually get many things done because our systems take a long time to go through. First of all it’s illegal to systematically discriminate based on age, race, sex, gender, religion etc. Some communities pass laws like not allowing marriage or allowing you to not hire, but those are being gotten rid of as the boomers keep dying off. Those politicians may say they don’t support the lgbtq+ community, but they can’t do anything about that bias unless the majority of the people in their state or community believe the same thing, which is unlikely, because you can vote for someone for their other policies which you believe are for the overall benefit. But in the end if they wanted to pass something like that they’d have to have overall community support…for we are not a dictatorship :D I wouldn’t support those trashy types of people unless I believed they were the lesser of the two evils, like I think Scott did.

It's easy for people to be "respectful" of others if it isn't actively threatening THEM because it's not something they actually have to care about, so their "respect" is usually just indifference. Obviously I don't know you, but whether or not you are in a demographic that society shits on, if someone is actively trying to hurt you, not just talking and discussing their opinions--actually writing laws that ban you from equal rights and treatment, is it really best to just explain your case, or should you take more proactive action than only hoping someone will first listen with an open mind and then actually be convinced? I'm all for respectful discussion, but not the idea that the people being hurt are supposed to lay down and take it because it's being "respectful" while the people hurting them are just "having an opinion." Real people are being hurt every day in very real ways, not just because someone had a different opinion, but because those opinions were actively harmful and other people supported them and elected people to the government to put their actually-harmful "opinions" into law where it affects actual lives and real people.

Basically yes, he was not a good president as a person, but when I watched a documentary about him (I strongly suggest watching it, it was interesting!) it did show what he can do with money and that was impressive. John, with all due respect, I don’t think he was being manipulative. I think Scott said these things because he was kinda upset and hurt that people didn’t give him the benefit of the doubt. It’s hard to make a good response with people doxxing you and harassing you over just a few days, especially since he genuinely cares about this community. It shocked him, his family, and he may have snapped in the moment. I respect and agree with you that doxxing, shutting down opinions, and being disrespectful is wrong, and that both sides were in the wrong, but I don’t think he was using those things against us. But I also agree that his response felt off, especially since I read it in-depth and skimmed it. I also read the comments, both supportive and non-supportive.

Second: my point is not to defend his choice, but rather to say that I dont wish for people to cause things to collapse out of hate messages towards anybody.
Third: donating to a community that has a good idea, and several bad ideas does not mean that the donater automatically supports the bad ideas (the bad ideas bieng not allowing LGBTQ rights or womens rights). (To be clear I am not saying their rights are bad ideas, I am saying that prohibiting those rights is a bad idea. In other words LGBTQ and womens rights are good things).
Fourth: you dont necessarily know if the people he supported were ONLY against rights for others. Just because they have bad ideas dosent mean that there were no good ideas that Scott wouldn't rationally support.

Everyone in that situation was incredibly aggressive, both for and against. I think Scott's response was in a panic since people kept sending threats. Scott is not the most social person, he caring but in situations like these he might panic and do something that doesn't end well. Not because he's bad, he just has a bit of difficulty expressing his reasons properly.

The nazis thought what they were doing was what was best and look at the results of that- just because it was what he thought was best does not excuse the action. I'm a part of the LGBTQ+ community and I hate how everyone is threatening him and his family just because of charity. Like he can support whoever he wants it doesn't mean he hates LGBTQ+ people. That's like someone telling us we don't believe in God because we're part of the LGBTQ+ community. Or telling us we hate Christians
??? He's donated to administrations that have actively restricted queer people's rights I feel like his actions kind of outweigh his words here.
*EVERYBODY* has their own political opinions and just because he supports these people doesn't mean he is like them, so I don't understand the hate when he has shown that he is *not* like them at all

Thank you, john. As a member of the fnaf and LGBTQ+ community, it’s really weird right now. On one hand, I adore scott, and what he has done for this community. On the other hand, seeing him support these people is not processing right with me. People sending death threats and things like that really disgust me, and I don’t really know what to think of everything right now. I really hope none of this affects the community too much, and I love this community so much, it’s quite painful to see all this unfolding. You have put into words what I cannot, so yeah. Love your vids btw.

hello, perspective from a 19 year old lesbian from the same place as Scott here, in case anyone was interested (I know you didn’t ask).
i think it’s sad that this is the way that things have happened. he is very clearly not an evil person, though I’m not going to argue that the politicians he donated to aren’t. I don’t know him. but I know a lot of people like him, because there are a lot of people with similar opinions (from what I can see) in Texas, where I grew up. I think that most of these people genuinely have love in their hearts and want to see the best for everyone. and that sometimes what they think is best is misguided. part of that is because people don’t take time to listen to minorities’ actual struggles (whether it’s lgbtqia+ people or people of color or someone of a different religion) and they assume they know what is best. and part of it is that a lot of people go their whole lives surrounded by bigotry and they have to find a way to be empathetic towards the people they know nothing about.
I agree that he should have handled it differently as far as his response went. The post looked like it was upset and in the moment to me, which doesn’t do anyone any good, and he certainly could have taken time to think and gather himself before making a statement. as a member of the lgbtqia+ community, it’s disappointing and disheartening to see money going from someone who is so many people’s idol to someone who is actively trying to make me sub-human, discriminate against me, and generally make my life worse.
On the separating art from the artists thing, just my opinion here: once you know that, it’s hard to look at something you loved and devoted hours and hours of your life to and wonder if the dollars you spent were used to try and make your life worse, or move steps backwards for your community. it’s sort of an identity crisis, on one hand you have something that you love and admire -it’s hard to just decide to find a new piece of entertainment because you dislike the creator of it. and on the other you have your identity, something that you can’t change, that makes up who you are, something that if you take any step against feels like a knife in your own back, like you’re running around and pushing down your friends. some people cannot separate the art from the artist, or in this case, the game from the dev. and it’s understandable- you don’t want to feel like you’re pushing yourself backwards just to play a game. please, if you can’t understand why people cannot separate this two things and why they would chose to leave the community, respect their decision. and please don’t hate the people who chose to separate art from artist. For some, the fnaf community is part of their identity as well, and it’s not an either or situation- there is no option to give up either part of their identity.
like I said, I don’t think Scott is a bad person. I am sad that he feels like this is the way to keep the best interests of lgbt people in mind when, like John said if it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it’s a duck. I hope that he chooses to listen to the voices of members of the community and educate himself as to why we are disappointed or angry. I hope that he uses this opportunity to learn and grow, and continues to do what he clearly loves, instead of choosing this to be the hill he dies on. He has done so much good for so many people in the world, and while I don’t agree that it excuses this choice, I also don’t think it should be ignored. He most certainly doesn’t deserve to be doxxed, or sent death threats, especially not to his family who have absolutely nothing to do to this.
the most important thing to remember is to be kind, and patient, and do your best to be the change you want to see. Listen to other people’s opinions before you shoot them down and respect people’s emotional reactions. I firmly believe that the community can move past this and I hope that it is an opportunity for Scott to educate himself and learn from his actions.
If I had thousands of people just start yelling at me and giving me death treats, I’d probably leave the situation too.

Really this entire situation is dumb. Nobody should be snooping around Scott's personal life, political or not, and making this a whole ordeal like it has become (really this is a great example for why Twitter is terrible and just shouldn't exist). If he wants to support republicans that says jack-diddly-squat about his personal views. I could eat a salad and you could call me a vegetarian, but the truth is I like the taste. And the fact that people are sending DEATH THREATS and DOXXING him over this is just sad for the LGBT+ community with this becoming a representation for them. God, I hate the internet sometimes -.-
This is literally the only bad thing I have ever seen from Scott, so this shouldn't ruin his career. Yandere Dev is still able to work on his game, and I think we all know how bad he is.

I really don’t care what political party Scott is a part of, that’s not my business and it never will be. But it really hurts to know that Scott has donated to anti- lgbtq+ people because I am a part of that community. And I’m also sad that Scott said he might retire from this. Idek what to think rn cuz fnaf has been such a big part of my life. :/

I just wanted to say this. Why does everyone just realise now that he is a conservative??? Like I'm apart of the LGBTQ+ community and I havent lost any respect for this man because of his donations. There are MANY sides to each politician and you donate to one usually because they have something that no one else has to offer or they have the best plan. You may not always agree with all of their ideals. But that has to go on a back burner to boost the economy because america is a democracy and there will be opposition from other members and politicians if they want LGBTQ rights taken away or something like that.
Scott is a privite business owner. The conservative party is what suits him individually the best. It may not suit you, but it suits him and everyone can vote differently. They shouldnt "Loose respect" because they support the left or the right! This is what always gets me. The stupid decision and divide that america is in right now. I'm disappointed in his actions cause I don't think someone can simultaneously want the GOP to be in power and also support queer people. As long as the GOP continues to pass anti-queer legislation and openly oppose gay marriage, you can't support queer people and support that party. Plus I don't think my rights are worth losing regardless of how good he thinks the economy will be.
He just wants the best for his country everyone has the choice to agree to an certain party.

Kinda lost some respect I had for John after this video, it hurts to see him distance himself from Scott over something everyone has- a political opinion. Scott’s response was the best it could be.
You can really tell John is young and naive in this vid. No hate, but yeah.
Called this as soon as I heard he had a long history of making random Christian games; Scott’s personal beliefs were always going to become problematic in the eyes of the socially woke parts of the fandom. It doesn’t help that a community which will go unnamed is exceptionally sensitive to all but constant praise and spotlighting, one that will absolutely go to the lengths of threats, doxxing or even legal action to force you into submission.
Family always comes first. Sad that not many people understand that.
