You can hate Scott all you want and disagree with his beliefs but never send death threats to his family nor doxxing his home address. If that were happened to you then you would also beg for people to stop as well and it'll be the same thing anyway. Don't put yourselves on pedestals while we're all here standing on the same ground.

The issue with politics here in America is that it’s very black and white with people. There’s no room for nuance, there’s no room for moderation. People keep voting for the same parties, and the same problems keep coming up. If you identify as Republican, it’s always assumed that you’re religious, anti-lgbtq+, and pro military. But the reality is that someone might vote Republican simply for the fact that they support the military and nothing else. People don’t see that. If you identify as Democrat, it’s assumed that you’re pro-choice, anti-gun, and probably not religious. But someone could be voting simply for the fact that they are pro-choice but still like Guns and subscribe to a mainline religion. But people don’t see that. I think Scott got caught up in that dynamic. I mean think about it. Why would he try to hurt the people he makes games for? Many politicians stand for many different things, and sometimes politicians that I don’t always agree with, hell even if I hate them, make good points about certain things.
This is very well said. I think that political opinions shouldn't be your only defining factor. I had a friend that I knew for a very long time but as soon as he found out we had different political opinions, he blocked me on all social media platforms and we are no longer in contact. Even just expressing opinions can change people's entire view of you even if they don't have opposing opinions, often causing unneeded arguments. I've learned not to share most controversial opinions because it can make even the best of friends think differently. If someone is that arrogant that they will block you for one small difference in opinion, they don't deserve to be your friend and similar things are happening in this community for the same reasons. They don't agree with Scott's opinion. The angry group of people have the right to be as angry as they want, they can even stop buying the games but I think they should stop attacking him and accept that they can't change the fact that it happened. Scott has the right to his own opinion and although it's unfortunate that he is leaving, it's good that he is separating the controversy from the games so that people who now hate him can still enjoy and have fun with the games. (I know that I jumped around a bit but I hope you got my point.)

I agree with the idea that politics shouldn’t be a defining characteristic at all for someone, let alone their personalities. That’s why I choose to stay moderate on most things, it’s just easier and makes more sense the more you think about it. Because, like I said at the end of my original comment, you might end up agreeing more with someone on a different side of the political spectrum if you give them enough time to actually explain their position :)

The words "see you on the flipside" really got me, Fnaf was always something I loved from the beginning and I was there when fnaf 1 first released. Seeing Scott retire like this feels weird but I understand his reasoning.
This really is heartbreaking.💔 I am still very new to FNAF. Unfortunately, I joined the FNAF fandom just about a week before this happened, so I never was around during the earlier years of this community. But in my 6 months here, I have seen just how big of an impact Scott has made for so many people. No matter what people think of Scott, he really does have a kind heart and he has brought so much joy to so many people with his creations. And those years of memories will be forever cherished and loved by them. And to all those who had the audacity to threaten to *kill him, his wife, and his CHILDREN,* in the words of Henry Emily: *“THE DARKEST PIT OF HELL HAS OPENED TO SWALLOW YOU WHOLE. Pretty likely no one will ever see this, but (not-so) fun fact! The man who started the harassment campaign against Scott defended a dude who molested his own sister! That alone should tell you everything you need to know about the bitter and awful person who spearheaded a harassment campaign against one of the kindest people to ever use the internet. Scott did nothing wrong and Gryphoneer needs to be held accountable for the suffering he put the Cawthon family through.
Reminds me of how the guy who brought up the old James Gunn tweets of him making jokes (key word: jokes) related to pedophillia from 10 years ago, has ALSO made similar jokes previously, but at least the shitstorm of all those tweets being brought up again did start a butterfly effect that led to James making The Suicide Squad and is still on for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 anyway, so it worked out well in the end for James.

I would argue this could be worse then the star wars situation. At least the Star Wars situation had a few bright spots. This though…I truly worry the fallout that this will bring. Unlike Starwars, I get the feeling that this may well create a far larger fallout against the LGBTQ community. A travesty. I am astounded by how brazen and reckless activists are getting. However, like with Dawko, as I am British, I can't comfortably say anything about American politics and I know nothing about the people scott donated to, nor their veiwpoints, goals or policies. I only know the overveiws that were given by both Dawko and John of FuNaff and given what little I do know, I agree with Dawko and John. I too support the LGBTQ+ community and as a crossdresser, am marginal to it. However, Aside from the insanely huge charity donations, I don't know much else about Scott as a person either so I won't pretend to know his reasons for doing what he did. All I know is the series, the characters, the masterful storytelling elements and the community. All of which I care about and want to see continued to its fullest. However, let me just say this, I don't believe that he would seek to betray the trust built over 7 years with the community. By all appearances, he loved this franchise and this community, but even I can tell that he is definitly tired and probably needs rest and more time with his family.

Not gonna lie, almost started tearing up while watching this. Scott didn't deserve any of those death threats, if anything nobody deserves to be sent death threats no matter how bad the situation is. It's concerning that people would even think about sending stuff like that, but that's just the internet sadly. And like Dawko said, I hope the FNAF community can be brought back up to where it once was, before Scott retired. And to everyone still upset and stressed about what happened like me, we can get through this, it just takes time. "We didn't know we were making memories, we were just having fun."
This video painfully saddens me but Scott retiring is valid and his best bet in this situation. Scott has done so much good for so many people and then his career gets slashed and scared because of the extremists. It is very sad and Scott will be missed dearly.

Hey there. You know, the weirdest thing has happened to me. There was a comment to this video that had about 1.2k likes and about 15 replies, about a couple of hours ago. I left a comment there and now I can't find it anymore, the original comment, which is something I have never seen before. It was a pretty long comment too and I can only imagine that the person who posted it had it removed. If that is the case then it's fine, because I can probably rewrite it close to the original. If the original comment is still out there then I'm sorry for the repost and for what I'm about to say. For if the person in question did delete the comment after I replied, then you are the biggest coward I have ever seen on the internet and I hope it works well for you in the future. The comment in question was the quote: "We're still your friends; Do you believe that?". Even though I've not followed the development of this community for some time, I was there when the first game came out and Game Theory was combing it for all the lore. And so I replied to the person who wrote the quote that, after looking through the comments section of this video, my conclusion was that the answer is no. There has never been a game developer more loved by his community than Scott. I understand that the games will continue to come out, but make no mistake, Scott is FNaF. Never before has a gaming community given so much back to a developer for all his love and consideration for them, for the fact that he's kept in close contact with them through all the years since it began. And it was never even a question of whether someone would be accepted into the community's fold, regardless of reason. So why is it that, when he is going through all of this, the community is not there for him? Because he's made one mistake? Then why not have him explain why he did it, what he was thinking or what he believed he was doing? And if his reasoning is not sound enough, then have him apologize to his community and promise to be more careful in the future. What about all of the good deeds he has done in the past? Would anybody care to enumerate all of them? How many people are with us today, because of the community that he has created? Instead, many people seem to be content with just sending him on his merry way, while saying: "Thank you for everything Scott, we love you but you're on your own with this one!". Do you really believe that he has chosen this outcome because he was not spending enough time with his family? The people responsible for this are part of a cult which operates the same everywhere. They are not affiliated with the groups they claim to, because they only seek to destroy. Show me a game that they've created (or like for that matter) that has a community like this one. Show me a book they've written, a painting they've painted, music they've composed, statues, buildings, anything! It's very easy to destroy, but almost impossible to create and because they can't do it, then nobody should be allowed to even try. And make no mistake Dawko, if you don't stand up for your friends, then you will be alone when they come for you, because everybody is guilty of something they have or have not done in their eyes. Except for them of course, the perfect ones. I understand that Scott is very scared and troubled by all the recent events, and that he needs some time away from everything. This decision was, maybe at gun point, forced upon him but it is not what he wants to do. The community should be there for him and to welcome him back when he is ready to return, instead of wishing him a: "Happy retirement!" and breathing a sigh of relief upon finding out that the games will still come out. If FNaF has meant something to you, then this is the time to be courageous. Maybe we can still answer yes to that quote.

While the sentiment behind that post is valid, the fact of the matter is that there is no apology or explanation owed for participating in American politics. As an LGBTQ+ person, I will continue to support and play the fnaf games because these damn games were what shaped me as a person, they helped me through a lot of hard times. I know I'm late but I really wanted to know what people's thoughts were on this and listening to dawko almost break down in tears saying Scott helped him out of a dark time made me tear up
I wish the world was just more kind. Sadly, that will never happen. Scott is an amazing person. I wish things were better for him, and these people could be more understanding like Dawko. I cried because of what's going on, especially when hearing how he helped Dawko and many others through dark times, and all he's getting is these horrible threats.
The cancel movement that labels everyone who isn't lock step with them as "Anti-this" or "That-ist" have made the world an unfathomably more hateful place, and for what? The worst part is Dawko spent the first few minutes appeasing and validating them, by taking it at face value that the groups Scott donated to are "anti-[labels]" which IS the problem and the source of the cancellation. By affixing those broad labels and acknowledging no disagreement and no degree or nuance in positions, that is what empowers the cancel mob. He obviously does not mean ill but in taking the cancel mob's claims at face value and treating them as fact and groveling for mercy, that is what gives the cancel mob their power. Instead we should've opened with "People have the right to think what they want and believe what they want so long as they aren't directly hurting others", simple as. The cancel mob directly hurts others, Scott's actions did not.
It will never happen if people don't believe it can happen. Doing a good action for others is cherished, the social media is just an innacurate representacion of how people really are.

It's a contradictory statement because do people not have the right to be upset with Scott? If the people he donated to such as Mitch McConnell have been advocating for anti-LGBT rights (and no this is not just a label, he has done things like block a vote that would have blocked the LGBT military ban, voted against LGBT federal employment protections, and voted for the Defense of Marriage Act which allows states to refuse to recognize same-sex marriage). People are 100% allowed to be upset by this and express how they feel. No, I do not think Scott is this or that and I do not think he deserved the hate that he got but pretending like donations to these figures does nothing is irresponsible.
I don’t care whether he retires or not, because he is always a legend who impacted many peoples lives for the past 7 years of FNaF. These past 7 years have been the best 7 years of my life. Without FNaF or Scott, I probably would never have had so much fun in my life. I could honestly go on and on. The only thing I have left to say is if you are feeling down great memories could bring you back up. Every day I want you to think about the positive things that have happened throughout the past 7 years. What was the best day of your life? The worst day? The most exiting day? Most surprising? Each of those days were days that FNaF existed and many lives have been impacted. Have you been impacted? If so, how? If not, why? Scott is a legend who kept going on for 7 years, think about that. He had to deal with many hate from other haters of FNaF or Scott’s games in general, yet he kept going. He followed his dreams, and he achieved great victory. He definitely impacted my life, he may not have impacted yours, but the last thing I have to say, is thank you for YOUR patience of reading this and thank you to Scott for impacting my life.
The thing that’s sad about this is that it happened to Scott of all people (who probably least deserved it). When you look at statistics, lots of the bigger names, brands, and franchises do the exact same thing, and nobody bats an eye. There aren’t mobs of people attempting to get someone or a franchise cancelled. Disney and Dreamworks did, Marvel did, and even companies like pharmaceuticals did as well. And they donated millions. I get why people reacted badly, but I wish it hadn’t gotten as bad as it did

Seeing Dawko teary and knowing that people have wrote hate messages towards him before he even said anything makes me cry. Why do people have to be like this?

Some people are just so closed off to any other way of thinking. And they’ll teach their kids to do that too. That’s why we need good people to teach them in class or in a book or movie or video or anything else about new perspectives.

The issue with politics here in America is that it’s very black and white with people. There’s no room for nuance, there’s no room for moderation. People keep voting for the same parties, and the same problems keep coming up. If you identify as Republican, it’s always assumed that you’re religious, anti-lgbtq+, and pro military. But the reality is that someone might vote Republican simply for the fact that they support the military and nothing else. People don’t see that. If you identify as Democrat, it’s assumed that you’re pro-choice, anti-gun, and probably not religious. But someone could be voting simply for the fact that they are pro-choice but still like Guns and subscribe to a mainline religion. But people don’t see that. I think Scott got caught up in that dynamic. I mean think about it. Why would he try to hurt the people he makes games for? Many politicians stand for many different things, and sometimes politicians that I don’t always agree with, hell even if I hate them, make good points about certain things.

This is very well said. I think that political opinions shouldn't be your only defining factor. I had a friend that I knew for a very long time but as soon as he found out we had different political opinions, he blocked me on all social media platforms and we are no longer in contact. Even just expressing opinions can change people's entire view of you even if they don't have opposing opinions, often causing unneeded arguments. I've learned not to share most controversial opinions because it can make even the best of friends think differently. If someone is that arrogant that they will block you for one small difference in opinion, they don't deserve to be your friend and similar things are happening in this community for the same reasons. They don't agree with Scott's opinion. The angry group of people have the right to be as angry as they want, they can even stop buying the games but I think they should stop attacking him and accept that they can't change the fact that it happened. Scott has the right to his own opinion and although it's unfortunate that he is leaving, it's good that he is separating the controversy from the games so that people who now hate him can still enjoy and have fun with the games. (I know that I jumped around a bit but I hope you got my point.)

I agree with the idea that politics shouldn’t be a defining characteristic at all for someone, let alone their personalities. That’s why I choose to stay moderate on most things, it’s just easier and makes more sense the more you think about it. Because, like I said at the end of my original comment, you might end up agreeing more with someone on a different side of the political spectrum if you give them enough time to actually explain their position :)

The words "see you on the flipside" really got me, Fnaf was always something I loved from the beginning and I was there when fnaf 1 first released. Seeing Scott retire like this feels weird but I understand his reasoning.

This really is heartbreaking.💔 I am still very new to FNAF. Unfortunately, I joined the FNAF fandom just about a week before this happened, so I never was around during the earlier years of this community. But in my 6 months here, I have seen just how big of an impact Scott has made for so many people. No matter what people think of Scott, he really does have a kind heart and he has brought so much joy to so many people with his creations. And those years of memories will be forever cherished and loved by them.

I just hope that his retirement doesn't turn into another Star Wars esque situation but so long as Illumix, Steel Wool, or whomever takes the reins, cares deeply for the series we can look forward to a long and high quality continuation
I would argue this could be worse then the star wars situation. At least the Star Wars situation had a few bright spots. This though…I truly worry the fallout that this will bring. Unlike Starwars, I get the feeling that this may well create a far larger fallout against the LGBTQ community. A travesty. I am astounded by how brazen and reckless activists are getting. To quote a certain news article from the Atlantic, “What hell hath Bod Dole Wrought?”. The article focused heavily on how such a destructive mind set is endangering the nation, dare I say, the world.

I too support the LGBTQ+ community and as a crossdresser, am marginal to it. However, Aside from the insanely huge charity donations, I don't know much else about Scott as a person either so I won't pretend to know his reasons for doing what he did. All I know is the series, the characters, the masterful storytelling elements and the community. All of which I care about and want to see continued to its fullest. However, let me just say this, I don't believe that he would seek to betray the trust built over 7 years with the community. By all appearances, he loved this franchise and this community, but even I can tell that he is definitly tired and probably needs rest and more time with his family.

Hey there. You know, the weirdest thing has happened to me. There was a comment to this video that had about 1.2k likes and about 15 replies, about a couple of hours ago. I left a comment there and now I can't find it anymore, the original comment, which is something I have never seen before. It was a pretty long comment too and I can only imagine that the person who posted it had it removed. If that is the case then it's fine, because I can probably rewrite it close to the original. If the original comment is still out there then I'm sorry for the repost and for what I'm about to say. For if the person in question did delete the comment after I replied, then you are the biggest coward I have ever seen on the internet and I hope it works well for you in the future.
The comment in question was the quote: "We're still your friends; Do you believe that?". Even though I've not followed the development of this community for some time, I was there when the first game came out and Game Theory was combing it for all the lore. And so I replied to the person who wrote the quote that, after looking through the comments section of this video, my conclusion was that the answer is no. There has never been a game developer more loved by his community than Scott. I understand that the games will continue to come out, but make no mistake, Scott is FNaF. Never before has a gaming community given so much back to a developer for all his love and consideration for them, for the fact that he's kept in close contact with them through all the years since it began. And it was never even a question of whether someone would be accepted into the community's fold, regardless of reason.
So why is it that, when he is going through all of this, the community is not there for him? Because he's made one mistake? Then why not have him explain why he did it, what he was thinking or what he believed he was doing? And if his reasoning is not sound enough, then have him apologize to his community and promise to be more careful in the future. What about all of the good deeds he has done in the past? Would anybody care to enumerate all of them? How many people are with us today, because of the community that he has created? Instead, many people seem to be content with just sending him on his merry way, while saying: "Thank you for everything Scott, we love you but you're on your own with this one!". Do you really believe that he has chosen this outcome because he was not spending enough time with his family?
The people responsible for this are part of a cult which operates the same everywhere. They are not affiliated with the groups they claim to, because they only seek to destroy. Show me a game that they've created (or like for that matter) that has a community like this one. Show me a book they've written, a painting they've painted, music they've composed, statues, buildings, anything! It's very easy to destroy, but almost impossible to create and because they can't do it, then nobody should be allowed to even try. And make no mistake Dawko, if you don't stand up for your friends, then you will be alone when they come for you, because everybody is guilty of something they have or have not done in their eyes. Except for them of course, the perfect ones.
I understand that Scott is very scared and troubled by all the recent events, and that he needs some time away from everything. This decision was, maybe at gun point, forced upon him but it is not what he wants to do. The community should be there for him and to welcome him back when he is ready to return, instead of wishing him a: "Happy retirement!" and breathing a sigh of relief upon finding out that the games will still come out. If FNaF has meant something to you, then this is the time to be courageous. Maybe we can still answer yes to that quote.

While the sentiment behind that post is valid, the fact of the matter is that there is no apology or explanation owed for participating in American politics. It's our right as American citizens, and it's disturbing how few want to accept that.

You are absolutely right and by his "decision made at gun point", I was referring to him having to step away from his work and community, which was the whole point of this scandal to begin with, regardless of anything else.

As an LGBTQ+ person, I will continue to support and play the fnaf games because these damn games were what shaped me as a person, they helped me through a lot of hard times. I will still continue to play the games and i will be begging my mum for tickets to see the fnaf movie when it comes out in the UK , i am not racist , homophobic, transphobic or any of the sort and i know that Scott said he was donating to these people because of reasons that were NOT homophobic or racist. Scott is a lovely person and i wish him the best retirement. Him and his family do not deserve anything that has been said to and about them, i think Twitter should just *back off* .

Scott is an amazing person. I wish things were better for him, and these people could be more understanding like Dawko. I cried because of what's going on, especially when hearing how he helped Dawko and many others through dark times, and all he's getting is these horrible threats.

The cancel movement that labels everyone who isn't lock step with them as "Anti-this" or "That-ist" have made the world an unfathomably more hateful place, and for what?
The worst part is Dawko spent the first few minutes appeasing and validating them, by taking it at face value that the groups Scott donated to are "anti-[labels]" which IS the problem and the source of the cancellation. By affixing those broad labels and acknowledging no disagreement and no degree or nuance in positions, that is what empowers the cancel mob. He obviously does not mean ill but in taking the cancel mob's claims at face value and treating them as fact and groveling for mercy, that is what gives the cancel mob their power.
Instead we should've opened with "People have the right to think what they want and believe what they want so long as they aren't directly hurting others", simple as. The cancel mob directly hurts others, Scott's actions did not.

If the people he donated to such as Mitch McConnell have been advocating for anti-LGBT rights (and no this is not just a label, he has done things like block a vote that would have blocked the LGBT military ban, voted against LGBT federal employment protections, and voted for the Defense of Marriage Act which allows states to refuse to recognize same-sex marriage). People are 100% allowed to be upset by this and express how they feel. No, I do not think Scott is this or that and I do not think he deserved the hate that he got but pretending like donations to these figures does nothing is irresponsible.
The moment I heard Scott announced retirement, it hurted me as spring locks snapped inside my body. Thank you, Scott.
I don’t care whether he retires or not, because he is always a legend who impacted many peoples lives for the past 7 years of FNaF. These past 7 years have been the best 7 years of my life. Without FNaF or Scott, I probably would never have had so much fun in my life. I could honestly go on and on. The only thing I have left to say is if you are feeling down great memories could bring you back up. Every day I want you to think about the positive things that have happened throughout the past 7 years. What was the best day of your life? The worst day? The most exiting day? Most surprising? Each of those days were days that FNaF existed and many lives have been impacted. Have you been impacted? If so, how? If not, why? Scott is a legend who kept going on for 7 years, think about that. He had to deal with many hate from other haters of FNaF or Scott’s games in general, yet he kept going. He followed his dreams, and he achieved great victory. He definitely impacted my life, he may not have impacted yours, but the last thing I have to say, is thank you for YOUR patience of reading this and thank you to Scott for impacting my life.

The thing that’s sad about this is that it happened to Scott of all people (who probably least deserved it). When you look at statistics, lots of the bigger names, brands, and franchises do the exact same thing, and nobody bats an eye. There aren’t mobs of people attempting to get someone or a franchise cancelled. Disney and Dreamworks did, Marvel did, and even companies like pharmaceuticals did as well. And they donated millions. I get why people reacted badly, but I wish it hadn’t gotten as bad as it did
