You can't pipe jump and plants go down pretty slowly so fire is faster. The main differences are no wrong warps in this version and the minus world glitch sends you to world 4 so it saves a bit of time there
The main reason this game is faster is through fast level transitions as well as much faster pipe transitions. There's a bunch of differences from physics to enemy behavior to the 1-2 clip being faster in this version since you don't have to scroll the screen in order to warp to world 4. Lastly, we don't go small because it wouldn't be faster. The plants have a significantly larger hitbox than they do in the original game which would require waiting as you can't do pipejumps to clear them in levels like 8-1. Also, since you can't clip as small mario in this game, it allows us to do the 1-2 clip and saves time in levels like 8-4 where we have to go through pipes with plants in them because we can use fire to kill them rather than wait out their cycle.
Getting 4:53 with a very visible mistake in 4-2 is such a wild concept. Anyway, it's faster to get powerups in 4-1 and 4-2 instead of 1-1 and 1-2, right? That's what the TAS does, but it _is_ old.
That mistake cost way less than it looked like, only about .2-.3 over a perfect 4-2. Yes an alternate power up grab would save time but im honestly not sure how much or how viable it would be. Pipe jumps in this game are brutal, much more so than in smb1 since the hitboxes of the piranha plants are significantly larger. Admittedly though I only labbed it out for a little bit before deeming it unnecessary for my goal.
Actually, an alternate power up route WOULDNT save time, as demonstrated in my RTA rules tas (which also happens to be a few frames faster than denials tas)
@@adrianchorzewski9534 I don’t think 4:51 is humanly viable either way. I haven’t experimented with the walljump much though so I honestly don’t know how much time it saves.
@@lukas_ist_hier676 thanks! yeah, that one was really clean. the runs not perfect but im content with it for now. i might try out warpless then move on to other things.
Amazing work, right after Kosmic put out a video on why 4:53 and 4:52 are possible.
GG.
bro is indeed faster than Niftski
oh my god is this that guber that I saw wondering the woods in the U.S mountain west?
she super mario my bros till i deluxe
why is this version so fast? What're the differences? Why no small mario?

@@KingoftheKappas Just checked it out, nice job.
i have a question is it required to do the walljump in 1-1 under ground to get 4:51?

1-1 underground wall jump isn’t possible on the Japanese version of this game
Wow, this is incredible! Great run Jeremy!
now i know why kosmic says 4:53 is possible even faster.
Spr maio delux 453
Idk what to say, i thought the last run was already crazy and then you hit the first 4:53 by .4 second. That 1-2 347 is so unholy, i can only get 346!
