      that's a good point! That 1.5 amp battery has very little power. I always use the 3 amp battery - I just used this Bauer to crack free some seriously rusted 21 mm bolts on the trailing arm. I used PB Blaster and a deep socket.

    Don’t get me wrong this will break most nuts, I personally use it for valve covers and such, or most things with a torx but the 1300 inch lbs (108ft lbs) is the tightening spec, doesn’t have the same breaking power. I will say however this drill can take a fall and is worth every cent of the price tag( plus the endless attachments for a hex drill) . However if you go with an actual impact wrench, go for Milwaukee, I have personally submerged my m12 in spent oil and flooded the thing with coolant and it doesn’t have an issue. I’ve also seen people using them under water with no issue(pretty sure “ donut media” has a video on comparing specs of the bauer, milwakee and snap on). Bauer is closer in reality with their specs compared to what Milwaukee claims throughout their lines, but the Milwaukee has a superior battery at full torque. But honestly for the $100 it cost for a Bauer 1/2 inch impact it does crack the same bolts as a $350 milwakee and is 100% worth it for an at home mechanic.

    Found this video just today. Good video, not sure if anyone mentioned but you are loosing massive amount of torque in the shank of the adapter. I was a tech for 35 years and I found out early that you loose torque in extensions.

    Hi, excellent video ty so much, I just got the Bauer 1/4 like in this video, it pulls every bolt except the lugs! I used the short 1/2 adapter with an impact socket, gave it about fifteen seconds and stopped not to burn it out! It pulls struts top bolts right off motor mount bolts right off, not lugs, I’m getting the 1/2 impact and not push this 1/4 to do what it can’t do, regards, Bob,

    Though the 1/4 tool isn't designed to remove lug nuts, the 5-amp battery would give it a bit more power and may possibly remove them?

    Hi Joe - thanks for making a very informative video. Since the tool seems to be rated for well above its loosening torque capability, is it possible that tighten and loosen maximum torque are different? That would be strange, I guess, but you never know. It would be interesting to fully tighten the lug with the tool, then see how much torque it took to loosen it. Perhaps you have already done that in another video - I've just discovered your channel.

      I was just using the lug nuts for a torque test,. I backed off the torque to a value that was in the range of the impact wrench

    • @tiorobot
      @tiorobot 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@JoediyLab What I meant was that with heavier sockets you can get more torque to the fasteners. However the more "connections" one has the less efficient impact guns are.
      I was trying to loosen a 30mm bolt once using a short impact socket and it wouldn't budge. I can remember why I ended up switching out the socket to a deep socket of the same size and it finally broke loose. All I did was change the socket for essentially a heavier one.
      I was really rooting for this impact and hoping it would break the fastener loose at a higher torque setting. I think I remember seeing another video where a bigger battery (amp hours not volts) makes a positive difference. No pun intended 😉
      Thanks again for posting this video. Hopefully I'll be able to pick up one of these to add to my toy collection.

    Sir,, you should know ""impact"" driver or wrench means you have to let it impact a bit,, its not a drill,, you hit the trigger 1 second at a time,,maybe 2,,, the tests for these are rated at 5 sec, 10 sec, and 30 second bursts,, in summary, no impacts will start out in 1 or 2 seconds at its rated punch, try watching torque test channel, or shop tools review,,, they show you how they work completely,,

    Why are you trying to remove lug nuts with an impact driver designed to drive screws? Sure it's a good driver to remove small bolts and nuts as well but why not use an impact wrench which is deigned for the job. So much torque is lost with the drivers chuck and the thin adapter that's why impact wrenches have the needed 1/4", 3/8" or 1/2" hook up to fit right on the socket.
    It's also obvious that you don't understand battery's. A 1.5 amp 20 volt battery is putting the same power to a tool as a 5 amp 20 volt battery, 20 volts is 20 volts. The amp rating is the storage capacity of a battery, a 5 amp battery will put 20 volts to the tool longer then a 1.5 amp battery. So your fist couple try's loosening the lug nut with the 1.5 amp battery was at full battery power.
    If anything this video shows that the little impact driver has some power and can take some abuse being used for things it's not designed for.

    • @JoediyLab
      @JoediyLab  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Go back and watch the video again I explained that I loosened the lug nuts so I could safely test the impact wrench max torque rating. I kept on loosening the torque until the impact wrench would loosen the lugs that way I could test at what torque the impact wrench wold loosen the lugs. I do know about batteries. I also indicated that I wanted test with a lower amp hour battery to test the limits of the impact wrench. As I tested several times at the same torque I was able to test if the battery drain would effect the max torque would be impacted. In the limited times I tested with the 1.5 amp battery the torque did not decrease. If anyone do not know about testing it is you. I have over 40 years of Testing background.

    • @tttuberc
      @tttuberc 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Higher capacity battery can give out more current than lower capacity battery. A 1.5Ah 20v battery can give you 30W of power at the battery rating (C rating). A 3Ah 20v battery can give you 60W of power. So it's possible that the tool would have more power if it was used with higher capacity battery.
