I think we forget that Coco Channel was born in 1883 - she still seems so modern and her style and fashion outlook is as fresh and relevant today as it was during her life .

My mother passed away one month shy of her 95th birthday. When my sister and I went back to her apartment to begin sorting through her belongings, there was her large hanger by her closet where she put her outfits together and matched her jewelry. Her next outfit was "in process" and almost ready to be worn for the next event. She taught me so much about timeless style all the way to the end. ❤️

Nancy I am sorry for your loss and feel for you. My mother and her mother were so elegant too and loved styling their clothes, in the French chic tradition. It was such a heartbreak for me to have to empty my mum's walk-in closet and jewellery boxes after she was gone. everything brought back precious memories, and I saved as much as I could knowing she was hoping I would do that.

I am with you and Chanel, you can express style at any age, anywhere you go. At the start of Covid Lockdown, I bough 5 masks made from beautiful Liberty cotton fabric, hand made by an out-of-work seamstress. She made a charity donation with every mask bought. I carefully choose a mask to match my outfit, it gives me such a lift! Amusingly, the scientists now say cloth masks are more effective than the disposable ones.

I love Chanel everything. The area where I reside in Pennsylvania really has never been one to embrace style. However, for some reason I never felt I was the same. I love to look and feel my best. It definitely affects my mental attitude. So glad I found your videos, Marie-Anne. A breath of fresh air for an American who loves French chic.
I went with the not-me California Boho style for 20 years or more. Last year, when I turned 60, it was very freeing and I went back to my first, and best, classic style. Goodbye, fringes and peasant tops, I feel like myself again! I do buy updated clothes, but keep on the classic, less extreme end of the trend spectrum. You are such a great role model for chic, quality and timeless style. At my age, I can wear what suits me best, as can any woman of any age.

I lost a lot of weight during the pandemic & am having a very hard time finding sophisticated clothing for a 5’2” 100 lb woman. Do you have any suggestions? (Your videos have been very inspiring!)
I have to mention. You are indeed right, everyone lives a casual life. When I move to Las Vegas Nevada 17 years ago it was so glamorous. Everyone use to dress beautifully anywhere. It was a joy to go places. Tourists knew this was a City to shine. Now tourists bring the wardrobe they have to clean their houses or back yard. They dress to clean Las Vegas. It's s painful. The local people will still dress nice, but a lot less than before. Soon we'll all are going to joying the majority of tourists. Hopefully NOT!!
#2: I noticed a lot when I was size 52EU, that people notice a fat woman and not me. It is so superficial, but also so true. Your first impression is mostly based on your look. So even if you cannot change your weight in a heatbeat, your clothes are your choice of how you present yourself to the world.

I believe that Coco Chanel's style encompassed the whole woman and she did not compromise. Hiii marie ann , im your follower since long time , you can say I'm a slob , but since I started seeing your channel , I started doing little changes like using little statement earrings, putting well essembled outfit and i received soo many compliments ☺, it changed the way I shop too ,i see which scarfs matches most of my dresses or that beautiful shirt that I can wear with most of my jeans , i shop for clothes that suit my body shape and my skin and undertones , I shop for quality clothes without repeating same piece again and again , shopping like this costs me much much less than aimless picking of clothes and not wearing them at all , and these clothes last for very long time , thanks for everything marie ann ❤ 💕 love from india

My favorite quote about fashion is "the only thing that separates us from the animals is our ability to accessorize." This comes from an American film called Steel Magnolias about the strength of friendship in a group of American Southern women. It seems that Coco Chanel has transcended fashion and inhabited the hearts of women everywhere because every thing she has said permeates our hearts like an arrow. It makes us women. Good morning Madame! I really enjoyed your video. I have never been one who follows the herd of people who are ruled by fashion trends. As a little girl Jacqueline Kennedy was the woman that I followed and followed throughout her life. Classic lines make a classic woman. Coco Chanel is my hero.
I made most of all of my clothes throughout my life and shopped at vintage shops since I was a young teenager. I never blended in with the crowd but never stood out like a sore thumb! The crowd always came to me. I just turned 70 years young as of June 2022 and continue to carry on my own unique style. My hair is long and white all the way down to my hips. It is my natural color and I get so many compliments on the beauty of my hair. When I wear it up on top of my head with a silver or gold cone around the elastic band I look like ”I Dream Of Jenni” In the American TV show.

As a young teen I followed the Mod Look of iconic model Jean Shrimpton. I studied the pages of Vogue and Harper’s Bizarre Magazines to emulate her hair, make up and style of dress 👗 but I never stopped following
Jacqueline Lee Bouvier Kennedy Onassis. During the 1980s I lived in Newport, Rhode Island. Hammersmith Farm buy Narragansett Bay was her mother’s exquisite home. Hammersmith Farm also became the Presidential Summer Home during Kennedys administration. I became friends with a police officer who used to walk what they call “The Beat” meaning patrolling the seaside towns quaint and quiet sidewalks. 👮♂️ Officer Conti told me many interesting stories about Jackie and John John Kennedy. The shop owners that remember her spoke of her graciousness and of the beautiful high French that she spoke.
I think most know style when we see it - replicating it so it suits us is the challenge . Coco Chanel was a woman before her time and had a rough go of it during WW2 . So inspirational !
Great video and I agree on the concepts and since everything has gotten so casual, especially in the summer, I try to think about how I can be styleless and casual. Not so easy with so many of us working from home and living in very hot climates. Sundresses tend to be an easy answer.

But I think she was very contrived indeed. And who can blame her? She was a poor woman who knew how to disguise herself as a wealthier one, this attracted wealth. She was very astute as a business woman and knew what men liked. This was her path to wealth, fame and ...very influential men. She manipulated it all perfectly. Her clothes were a part of it. Such is life.
