Texas Public Transport: Overview of DART Buses and Trains in Dallas

  • Checking out the public transport system in Dallas, TX, including the system map, prices, and general station amenities. I even compare travel time to a car. This is the DART station in Trinity Mills in Carrollton, TX. My recommendation is if you want to rely on DART to get around, you should either:
    1. Live in (or near) Downtown Dallas.
    2. Commute to Downtown Dallas from a nearby station.

I'm really hoping they extend the transit system all across TX since my son has epilepsy and doesn't drive. It's something many others struggle with I sure.

I know they're doing Plano to Carrollton extension. Rail system crossing the 3 major cities (Houston, Dallas) is in speculation and might be coming.

Dallas is also Getting a second Subway in Downtown Dallas and and New Rail-Line called the DART Silver Line. It will take you from Plano to DFW airport by 2022.
It's so ironic you mentioned it too🤣🤣
Also which one is more cheaper amongst that 4?
    DART
    DCTA
    TRE
    Or TexRail?
    Great video

      @EdwardInTX  4 ปีที่แล้ว

The trick is the reach of each rail system. Short answer is TexRail is cheapest, but DART has a wide reach.
      1. DART is dallas area as shown in the video, $6 day pass, $3 one way
      2. DCTA is north dallas area (specifically denton). $3 one way, up to $480 annually dcta-website.myshopify.com/
      3. TRE is east to west from fort worth to dallas through airport. $5 pass, $2.50 one way. trinityrailwayexpress.org/fare-zones/
      4. TexRail is downtown fort worth to airport via NRH. $5 day, $2.50 one way. dfwairport.com/texrail/index.php

DART gives the most milage per dollar with the four lines and buses. DCTA is limited to Denton County and is much slower.

    Great video Edward!
DART is also building a new Rail-Line from Plano to DFW airport.
It's called the DART silver Line.
I like the fact that on the DART Redline you can go from Plano to Uptown.
There's a Subway in Uptown Dallas called Uptown/CityPlace station.
Also DART is building a Second Subway system downtown Dallas.
    Keep the good videos coming.

DART is absolutely terrible. When I was working at a temp job for a few months, I luckily lived on the blue line on the last suburb stop and my job was on the orange. The price is also outrageous! In my new country, I'm spending pennies on the dollar to get twice as far, twice as fast.

Dallas really needs an circle line further from the city to speed up trips that don't want to go downtown, silver line will do that for the north of the system.

As long as you live close to a station, it's on time usually. Take a look at the map and use google maps to get an idea. University Park to downtown area is more urban and has more stops.

If you don’t drive don’t move to Texas. It’s a very car dependent state. I know Houston and Dallas are in the process of making light rails but I would wait a few years for the public transit to get a little better

  • @projectreject3889

Wednesday morning @ 8 and it's a ghost town. Hardly anyone on the trains. Ridership has been dropping, with COVID - plummeting (this was shot before COVID). If you are already downtown why not use micro-mobility (which I don't see available in this video) for those short trips? When uber shared robo taxis are soon everywhere, this will be a museum grade antique.

The problem with centralizing rail in Downtown Dallas is the majority of the Metroplex has no reason to go downtown Dallas. Dallas is not a typical centralized city like Atlanta or Houston.

      I agree.

    • @neiandresamuels5428
      @neiandresamuels5428 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Well I could agree and disagree...I agree cause the only time you see people downtown is when they are at work,or Taking a train or what not...so not much people go downtown because not much to do there for now.
But I disagree because I think Dallas is very centralized..I mean for starts it is the anchor of the Metroplex.
And we'll..at one point it was centralized but not anymore..but luckily More and more expansion is happening towards the end south which will make it more centralized...and also they are building a New Subway system downtown..which will boost it

@Tr3y5 BigTone the GoPass tap 💳 sounds just like the LA Metro tap card.LAMTC is valid on all metro 🚌 s and light rail 🚄 s, and local municipal bus lines like Santa Monica Big Blue 🚌, Culver Citybus Montebello , Torrance Transit and others. Discount Tap cards ate available for senior citizens, K-12 and College students , veterans I think , people with disabilities jurors even get one whether they're picked for a jury or not for superior court cases. Day passes and transfers are sold on the card, they cost $2 plus the amount you load onto it. We also have a regional train service throughout Southern California. LA, Orange, Ventura. Riverside and San Bernardino counties, and TAP isn't valid on Metrolink. Metrolink trains and the Metro Red and Gold lines go to Union station. Metro.net is metro's website, all transit info can be seen there

    Pros to using dart
-It gets you where you need to go.
    -it's cheap
    Cons to using dart.
    -drivers skip stops
-almost never show up on time
-Drivers usually always in a pissy mood
-Customer service does nothing when you ca them (if you can get someone on the phone at all let alone someone with a brain)
-It's a haven for bums and drug addicts
-ALWAYS smells like piss and defecation.
    -inaccurate ass bus schedules.
So yeah if you come to Dallas.. Come with a car cause dart ain't worth it.
