My wife and I visited your lovely city mid March last year and fell in love with it. Unfortunately we had to cut our trip short due to border closures. We discovered your channel during lockdown and it was like we were back in Prague. Thank you and your partner for wonderful and immensely enjoyable content. Hopefully sooner than later we will be able to revisit Prague and celebrate Dolce Vita with both of you at one of your favorite pubs! Cheers...

I took planes from Prague to Ireland using Public Transport. I travelled from Dresden, Germany alone. This is really kind making a video about the Bus 119. I just recommended this route a friend from Georgia, who will be travelling to Prague with children. She may stay for one night in Prague.
Good start guys! I'm glad you've launched this channel. I think you're going to be popular if you will continue to make videos like this one with a lot of helpful information for foreigners (and not only). 😉😄
First few times we visited Prague we used to spend £20 each way in a transfer car, sure it takes you right from the terminal to the door of your hotel but with the extra money you spend on transfer you can have a rather nice meal. Jump the 119 I think it is and then into the metro right to the centre, it's then very easy to get a tram to your hotel or even walk to it. Cheers guy's, learnt this a few years back thanks to you but great to see a refresh video ready for people to return after lockdown.
I saw one comment saying the bus number changed to 59, so thank you for that. Overall this video really helped guiding me through each step and I followed the exact route to the city centre. Thank you!!
Although they probably should have mentioned Bus 100 also (which takes you to a different metro station [on Line B, so you might not have to make a transfer] and might be better depending on where you are going).
@@zork999 I've never taken the 100 -- the 119, yes -- but, since it goes to a station rather further south (Zlicin? November Butovice?), I imagine it would also take considerably longer.
@@stevevasta Yes, I have always taken the 100 also, but I always stay in either Downtown or Letna so Line A works well for me. However, if I was staying along the Yellow Line (Line B), particularly in the Andel area, then it might be a good alternative. According to the timetable Line 100 takes 16 minutes to get to the Metro, while Line 119 is 15 minutes, so basically no difference.
Another SUPER important tip for foreigners: Don't forget to buy a 1/2 price ticket for your luggage! You need and ticket and your bag does too! You can be fined if you don't.
Been to Prague twice after binge watching Janek`s videos which are simply amazing and took away so much anxiety of going to a new place. bus transport from airport to metro is still the 119 as of this week, and number 100 as well, look on there time table and city guide, plus the airbnb host says its the 119
Did this just over a year ago and i became the public transport specialist (between the Airport and city centre), Following the video posted a few years back. Purchased 5 90mins tickets for approximately £5.60( all in, including international fees on my card) Saving us the best part of £15-£20 in a taxi. Well worth doing and you get to explore just that little bit more of Prague’s culture.
@@HONESTGUIDE Watching from Sydney Australia , haven't been to Prague Or anywhere else in Check Republic . Watched this video in case i do { do 1 day } . This video needs a reshooting, the bus was replaced by a fancy trolleybus number 59 in March. And also a tip: on your way from or to the airport get off the trolleybus at the Divoká Šárka stop and get some beers at Nad Šárkou & Liboc brewery. You won't regret it, the beer and the food are AMAZING there.
We did this yesterday.... Thanks it was so easy !! Also on the flight from Amsterdam to Prague.. I told the women, sitting next to me, about your web series, make sure to validate your public transportation ticket, not to exchange money on the street , and ATMs !!
Cool to see how to validate this time ! While being familiar with the notion, I think it's always hard when in a new city to spot where those box are, inside or outside, specially when you don't know what they look like ! Those things are victims to fashion, every city make them look different.
This video was one the most helpful that I watched preparing for my trip to Prague last month. Your city is wonderful and Honest Guide represents the city very well.
Your videos on Prague made my trip! I avoided most tourist attractions and followed your guide for the less obvious places to go and I had such a good time!
Janek you are a true ambassador for your country. My wife and i will be visiting in March and we have already learned so so much from your clips. Dont stop doing this work. You have a truly beautiful country steeped in thousands of years of history, and prague pretty much being one of the only cities in Europe to survive the war.
Nah, it is not that bad. Sure, many were destroyed but many as pretty as Prague survived. Just in the region Budapest, Vienna, Krakow. Italian medieval cities are almost intact, lot of is preserved in France, UK. Unfortunately lot of super old, beautiful cities ended up in ash in Germany and Poland, that is true. Also Croatia and Greece both have some super old actually ancient cities. There is still lot of to see.
WHAT EVER YOU DO, DO NOT CHANGE YOUR MONEY IN ANY EXCHANGE OFFICES BEING PRESENT AT PRAGUE'S AIRPORT !!! OR ATM, AS JANEK SAIS, BIIIIIG RIPP OFF !!! Public transport is a great and easy way to get to the city center, and most probably all the way to your hotel!!!

I guess banks are also ok, although I don't think their rates are nowhere near the Exchange's ones! @@sheanthesheep8816 You don‘t need to exchange money, if you have a credit card. My credit card has not the best conditions regarding fees, but it was still cheaper to pay everything by credit card than getting money at an ATM(a real one, not something like Euronet) or exchange booth. I was in Prague for 5 days and never had a single banknote or coin in my pockets. Looking back, this is how I should have done this most prior vacations as well. This might not apply if you plan on getting a significant amount of money in cash or your credit card conditions really bad, for me this threshold is around 340€.

Good one @HONEST GUIDE. It would also be amazing if you could explain the night buses that take you from the airport to the city center, as many of the flights right now arrive very late in the night. I did research myself as my flight will arrive on monday at 22:30 when there's no 119 + metro. Thanks!
1:33 When I told my parents this, they were rather shocked, and when my parents told their colleagues at work, they were shocked as well. Lucky I'm a railfan, otherwise they probably wouldn't have known until it was too late 3:09 And if you validate your ticket again after you've already validated it, you *render it invalid* (from the PID's website) And do we have to hold an arm out for the bus to stop? Here in the UK, you have to do it, otherwise the bus won't stop (seemingly even at the terminus, from my own experience).
Number 3: You must make a gesture to halt a bus when you are on request only stops (zastávka na znamení). There are not many of them in city centre, but they are common in suburban area. There was a debate if all suburban stops in PID system should be request only, but it wasn't adopted in the end.
You can also inform that people over the age of 65 do not need to buy a ticket, they can benefit from free transport, in case of control, they can present their identity card or passport to prove their senior status. Many, many, many thanks for all you do for the Prague's visitors. You help us to love more and more your city. I'll be there in 15 days, for the third time.
another nice TH-cam video. I love Prague because in my childhood I played a lot of Czech marches with my band. by the way, many music bands still play pochods and polkas on the street here in the Netherlands. This is how you bring Czech culture to the Netherlands. These marches were bought in Prague. This way Prague and Czech Republic is world famous in the marching music world.
The best and only way you could "restart" the honest guide. The origional was the first of your videos I watched back in 2019 just before visiting your wonderful city. and each of line of Prague Metro has different voice. Line B is woman, line A is man. It is better that annoyng noise which comes from buses and trams. My friend has flat next to bus stop and he can´t sleep with open window in night.
Brilliant ! Nicely done.... really clear and useful ! I'm just back from a weekend in Prague, and I felt like a local, following your simple instructions, to take the bus & metro to the centre. Can I suggest one addition...? You *will* need a local SIM card, to use Google Maps to get around the city. At the airport, there's no kiosk/mobile phone centre... just a Vodafone vending machine. BRING YOUR OWN Sim removal tool...!! Otherwise, you'll have a SIM card (eg 8 Euros for 2.5 Gb), but no way to put it in your phone. Also, once you insert it, you'll get a few SMS messages, but it won't work until you restart your phone. Voila.... I've just saved your sanity....
Because there's no one there. It's just for not standing in the way of someone who's in a hurry. If the escalator is empty, it doesn't matter and sometimes people walks on the right for the same reason. You can say, that left side is for faster people :)
I am going to be so happy to see all these videos again because thanks to you I traveled to Praha 2 times and it was the best city I have been to. Thank you very much for everything

Cheers...
You are probably the #1 person in any city that does the most public good for promoting your city and keeping it clean and honest; Keep up the good work
I can’t wait to come back to Prague. You guys are really upping your video game, nice stuff.
I took planes from Prague to Ireland using Public Transport. I travelled from Dresden, Germany alone. This is really kind making a video about the Bus 119. I just recommended this route a friend from Georgia, who will be travelling to Prague with children. She may stay for one night in Prague.
You guys are absolute heroes! Travel ambassadors for your beautiful country!
Every city needs this channel.
Good start guys! I'm glad you've launched this channel. I think you're going to be popular if you will continue to make videos like this one with a lot of helpful information for foreigners (and not only). 😉😄
I was in Prague in 2019 and we used the family ticket to get everywhere.
The transport system was very good, reliable and cheap!
Is it possible to buy those tickets with any kind of card? We have euros so if i pay with my master card, it will cut money in CZK or in euros?
I saw one comment saying the bus number changed to 59, so thank you for that. Overall this video really helped guiding me through each step and I followed the exact route to the city centre. Thank you!!
I'm glad the Honest Guide Restart begins with this video. Bus from the airport is fantastic! I'm looking forward to my next trip on 119 someday!!!
Me too
Although they probably should have mentioned Bus 100 also (which takes you to a different metro station [on Line B, so you might not have to make a transfer] and might be better depending on where you are going).
@@zork999 I've never taken the 100 -- the 119, yes -- but, since it goes to a station rather further south (Zlicin? November Butovice?), I imagine it would also take considerably longer.
That was supposed to be "Nové," not "November." Thank you, Autocorrect....
I found this guide extremely useful. Thank you for posting
Another SUPER important tip for foreigners: Don't forget to buy a 1/2 price ticket for your luggage! You need and ticket and your bag does too! You can be fined if you don't.
I think this is only for stuff bigger than carryon. Wouldnt want people rushing off to buy a ticket for their handbag!
how do you buy a 1/2 price ticket for 90 minute use?
Isn't half price only for seniors, children up to 6 years old and disabled persons?
Great step by step guide from the airport to Old Town. 1.80$ instead of spending 20$. Flawless!!! Thanks, guys!
Been to Prague twice after binge watching Janek`s videos which are simply amazing and took away so much anxiety of going to a new place. He should be head of tourism there ! , his passion for his city and welcoming manner makes you feel like you`re visiting an old friend. Thanks Janek Prague is my favourite place on Earth now.
bus transport from airport to metro is still the 119 as of this week, and number 100 as well, look on there time table and city guide, plus the airbnb host says its the 119
Love the energy! Love the music! Love the crystal clear explanation! Love to see more videos! Love the mood it puts me in! Can’t wait to visit Prague!
Thé only thing better than the “old” Honest Guide is the new one! Don’t stop Guys and stay safe!!👍
Thanks, Chris💛
👍, all is good, save some beer for me!!
@@HONESTGUIDE Watching from Sydney Australia , haven't been to Prague Or anywhere else in Check Republic . Watched this video in case i do { do 1 day } . Disappointed you didn't mention about renting a bicycle to ride from the Airport to the city centre instead of the bus { thinking a bike ride would be cheaper & healthier option } Although without you filming yourself riding a bike through that travel option , anyone doing that very 1st time in Prague will get VERY LOST { without a Prague GPS } . 🧳🇦🇺🛫🌏🛬🛂🇨🇿🚴🏙
So are you guys remaking all these types of guides?
I hope so, they were invaluable.
Great work guys and thanks
So glad you're still going to be uploading new videos 😊
Your videos on Prague made my trip! I avoided most tourist attractions and followed your guide for the less obvious places to go and I had such a good time!
He is angel in Prague
Stay blessed 💫🇲🇾🇵🇰
Taková videa by se nám hodila i pro další Evropská města 🤩
Věřím, že jste kluci tímhle videem pomohli hodně turistům 🥳

Thank you for your guide it’s going to help me out a lot 😊
WHAT EVER YOU DO, DO NOT CHANGE YOUR MONEY IN ANY EXCHANGE OFFICES BEING PRESENT AT PRAGUE'S AIRPORT !!!
OR ATM, AS JANEK SAIS, BIIIIIG RIPP OFF !!!
Public transport is a great and easy way to get to the city center, and most probably all the way to your hotel!!!
Where shd I exchange money
@@sheanthesheep8816 Exchange.cz, corner of Kaprova ulice 14/13 and just a stone's throw (150 m?) from the Old Town Square (Staromestske namesti), guaranteed best exchange rates in town!!! If you're not in the neighborhood or can't get there, check out their rates online so you'll at least get some guide lines and can than compare. I guess banks are also ok, although I don't think their rates are nowhere near the Exchange's ones!
Than it also depends of course how much money you intend to change, if very, very small amounts, than it is of course maybe not worth tinkering with, but bigger amounts give you clear plus!!!
Check it out and compare, you' ll see!!!
Use a credit card. It is best way how to save your money.
You don’t know how helpful this is! I’ll be in Prague next week and been warned about the common taxi scam😭😭
this is again so helpful. well done. you should also inform about the easy parking at the airport P&R-Zlicin and the good metro line to the city.
This video was brilliant
We visited our son in Prague last weekend (he has started work there)
And thanks to this video you managed to get our tickets and get to our hotel with confidence !
The cheapest airport to city ticket I have ever bought was just 15 cents in Moldova
Thanks for this. I didn't know that it can be this easy and cheap to get to the city centre from the airport. Hope to visit your beautiful city sometime soon.
Yay! We love travel tips, especially when they are budget friendly 😁
You are a credit to your people and to your city, Janek.
Bless you. My friend will be visiting prague for the first time today. I sent her your channel.
It's cool you are back. :) Honest Guide 2.0 #001
For a little time I thought this is the old video just without "old logos, display message". Than I realised Janek is wearing a facemask. :)
Best wishes from Hungary! ;)
Janek, on December 2019 me and my girlfriend went to a trip and Prague was one of the spots to visit! Thanks to you and your channel our visit was amazing and i remember particulary using this method of transport to get from airport to city center because i watched most of the videos we felt prepared for every situation 😁. Prague has a special spot in our hearts! Regards from Portugal 🇵🇹
Hey Janek, why did you remove videos such as you journey from MTV to honest guide, video about velvet revolution, etc? Are those also owned by S.....?
Good question
I think they felt under the contract of the company
They explained all of it in the video done before this one.

Hi I'am from Algeria and I have been to Prague two times. In the first trip I prebooked a taxi and it cost me 22 euro, but in the second visite I had seen the honest guide before, so I paid only 1.2 by using bus ,+ metro ! Thank you Janek!
Janek: "Remember, stand on the right walk on the left!"
Next clip: '*walks on the right*
We walk on the left on escalators, but on the sidewalk, we walk on the right! :)
@@katerinaspi9167 Yeah { watching from Australia } it kinda can get confusing. 😕🇦🇺🇳🇴
Leave this guy in every major city in Europe and he will be an amazing help to tourists and locals, equally.
Okay, only 100+ videos to go!
I miss your Pilsen video. 🍺😁
I flew in to Prague last Sunday and this guide was exactly what I needed to get me into town. Thanks for making such a clear guide.
remembered this one well from way back. keep going with the new vids, love your content!
P.S.: hopefully you could find and bust scammers to recreate some classics ;)
Appreciate this vid. The airport transit is the first ride every tourist takes after dropping into a new country.. so this is super useful!
Good one @HONEST GUIDE. It would also be amazing if you could explain the night buses that take you from the airport to the city center, as many of the flights right now arrive very late in the night. I did research myself as my flight will arrive on monday at 22:30 when there's no 119 + metro. Thanks!
i usually don't trust any company or group that has the word "honest" in them .. most of them aren't .. but you guys are amazing!
1:33 When I told my parents this, they were rather shocked, and when my parents told their colleagues at work, they were shocked as well. Lucky I'm a railfan, otherwise they probably wouldn't have known until it was too late
3:09 And if you validate your ticket again after you've already validated it, you *render it invalid* (from the PID's website)
And do we have to hold an arm out for the bus to stop?
The first journey you take in a new country is always the most daunting but that video made things so easy and no doubt this will do the same. Cheers!
What a deja vu!!
Heading to Prague in a couple of weeks for a first visit. So happy you have made these wonderful videos to assist us in getting around. Thank you!
I know that the new honest guide will be better
Thank you! This is the best video I have seen on how to reach a city center from an airport! Just amazing.
If this split means I now get to look forward to modern remakes of classic videos then I'm ok with this.
These guys are great! Very helpful!
In Prague two years ago, beautiful city, lovely people, as soon as it is safe, we are going back. Stay safe!.
Best wishes from Ireland.
Maybe this summer it will be better ;)
Guys, since you are starting new, it might be an opportunity to add something interesting except "Czech word at the end" into the videos. References, clues of some kind... or fragments of a puzzle that you would only solve if you watched all the upcoming videos... Just a suggestion.
Sounds like a fun suggestion, but I like the Czech word at the end, too!
Thank you so much!!!!!!
I’m glad you’re not gone forever.
I’ve never gone to Prague before. I accidentally ran across your videos and I’m hooked!!!! Because of you, Prague is going to be my first international trip.
And don't forget the soundtrack of Prague: Ukončete prosím výstup a nástup, dveře se zavírají!
and each of line of Prague Metro has different voice.
2:48 Janek: "....on the escalator - we stand on the right, walk on the left."
3:09 also Janek: *walks on the right*
:D
Because there's no one there. It's just for not standing in the way of someone who's in a hurry. If the escalator is empty, it doesn't matter and sometimes people walks on the right for the same reason. You can say, that left side is for faster people :)
he doesnt. hes on the left side of the escalator.
@@Komi83 Yeah i know how it works, i lived in Prague, but i just wanted to mention that as a joke :D
