As a WC fan I’ve seen 7 GF appearances and 4 flags in 30 something years. This isn’t the first time they’ve bottomed out, but never languished at the bottom of the ladder for any great length of time. The club knows how to bounce back quick, you can’t really complain if you’re an Eagles supporter

How Gaff still gets a regular game is beyond me. I went to nearly all the Eagles home games this year and he hardly ever laid a tackle, always waits for the easy outside receive and can only kick on one side. Very ineffective, yet he gets around $900K a year.

King is usually very sensible. but with his Rankine comments... "the money difference between Gold Coast and Adelaide is not that great."!?!?!? WTF? He comes back as a 22yo to be near his support structure of his family, to a city with a lower cost of living than Gold Coast and make $150k more a year? And King is saying Rankine is poorly advised? Wait til West Coast have a full preseason with ALL of their squad before you judge them harshly.
The last preseason was a disaster. At one stage, they had 15 players out on the park.
No team can compete at AFL level coming off such a bad preseason.
Secondly, our best midfielder played 40 minutes of football all season. When Sheed is back, the midfield will look a lot better.
And then there's Oscar Allen as well. Didn't play a game this season. He would have been very handy to have out there.
To suggest West Coast should trade Nic Nat or McGovern is ridiculous. As a team that's rebuilding, you need to keep the spine of the team. Both of these players should be a lot fitter after a full preseason (which neither of them had earlier this year).
Decent big key position players are crucial and so hard to come by. So why would you hand them off to another club for a pick 30?
The club needs fresh legs in the midfield, and speed off half back. They're obviously holding on to the older boys like Shuey and Redden until some youngens are drafted and are ready to go.
Again, if you get rid of them, then you're left with about 3 midfielders in the whole squad. That would be suicide.
I just hope they don't sign another muppet like Sam Petrevski-Seton to try and fill those holes.
