    Great small car , very reliable and no problems at motorway speeds

    I can get my 2012 Aygo down to 3.6l/100km traveling around 90-100km/h (the more traffic the better due to the motorway drafting effect, as long as it is still flowing)

    I wonder if a 1000cc engine can sustain that kind of speed long term, without severe wear on the engine. I would suppose 65mph would be ok.

    • @jusb1066
      @jusb1066 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      in 5th gear its 22mpg per 1k rpm, so 3200 or so, higher geared than my fiesta 1.3. which stated max long term rpms of 4000, so you could probably do 88 mph all day long

      I know my 2012 Aygo is at about 45-50% engine load at 50mph 5th gear on a flat road. 85,000 miles on the clock now and burning ~500mls of oil every 5,000 miles. I still love the car though for its handling and high mpg figures (7 years of ownership with a lifetime average of 69.3mpg). The toe on the steering is quite neutral to reduce friction losses but I quite like you can go around a corner and the car isn't fighting you to self correct the steering (you can literally take your hands off the wheel and it will keep going around the corner in the steering position you left it at)

      It's a Daihatsu engine and gearbox. Both basically bullet proof and one of the best power to weight ratioed engines ever made. Yes this engine will do just fine on highways.

      I don't know how old your car is, but if it's similar to the one in the video, I don't think you'll have any problems. I didn't buy a Toyota because it's a beautiful car, I bought it for reliability.

    Thr Aygo likes 120km/h much more. Easily 1l per 100km less and on long distance you don't even loose time because you need to refill less often

      It's an diesel it's normal, but will have more expensive problems when they will come out, but i would still take an diesel as my next daily, currently i have an 2009 C1 and it's very good on fuel, between 18 to 22 Km per liters, around 42 mpg if i'm not mistaken, but here in Italy gasoline costs 1,70 and diesel it's at 1,50 and an diesel Car you can take an bigger car and will always be at 18 Km per liter, at least big as an 208,Fiesta,Polo ecc
