One of these little dudes came up to me while I was taking a late night walk last night. Scared the crap out of me. It was making those little chirping sounds.
one time I was sitting on my UNcle bottom porch and had just came from work.. just sitting and listening to my iPod.. all of a sudden a raccoon walked right from under Neath my uncle car ..2feet away ..the raccoon stopped and was looking at me saying hello.. and kept walking.. Now that's too close for comfort ..Lol ..
I just had a mom and three babies come on my porch to eat the dry cat food. They were talking like crazy and are just SO cute! They don’t come around all the time, but when they do, it’s a nice surprise. I just love them. I can make that exact noise back, so it’s always super funny to see them stop in their tracks and start talking back! 😂
They’re cute as long as they stay in nature. Not so cute when you have to drop a thousand dollars to kick them out, clean up after them, and block up the holes they cane in from
I have to agree with those two. They’re so hard to get rid of! There’s a door to our attic in my closet and somehow their pee slipped through the cracks and i ended up with raccoon piss on my clothes 🙄
Beth Johnson “disease carrying” LOL there isn’t a species on earth that can’t carry diseases. Doesn’t mean we are all diseased! I am so tired of people using the “they are all diseased” excuse to kill animals they don’t like. It’s total BullShit!
That dolphin “sound” you hear is fake. I worked with them in wild dolphin rescue & field research & never heard that sound. It was made during the original Flipper tv show. Their real sounds are much cooler than that 🐬
What an absolutely beautiful raccoon family! I love kit season - the moment when Moms bring their kits out to forage for the first time, it's just so cool to see them exploring their new world with endless curiosity and energy! I love their vocalizations too - I taped a Mom coon coming back out of hiding to run for it's kit when the kit chirped a little - they're very dedicated to each other!
I only like it b/c it makes both the mother raccoons and baby raccoons easier to get rid of! To move as FAR AWAY as possible from your livestock!!!! There are HUNDREDS OF ACRES WITHOUT A HOUSE IN SITE, WHERE THE RACCOONS WILL FIND PLENTY OF FOOD!!! SO WHAT IF YOU HAVE TO DRIVE A FEW HOURS!?! IT'S WORTH IT BOTH TO THE RACCOON FAMILY, AND TO EVERY FAMILY YOU'RE PROTECTING FROM LOSING THEIR LIVESTOCK, WHETHER THEIR BEAUTIFUL CHICKS, FLUFFY BUNNY'S, PLAYFUL KITTENS, OR TINY PUPS! (AND I'VE HEARD OF RACCOONS KILLING MUCH MORE!) I don't understand why ppl just take them out of town and drop them off???? They usually go from a city setting, to a rural (my) setting, and they are going to attack and kill, b/c that's their nature!!!! Please, look at Google maps, look on the computer and do a few MOMENTS of research!!!! I've found many places to take raccoons that they are not within 200 miles of a human home!!! It's easily possible in the Ohio/PA/W Virginia areas!! I would assume it's the same in just about every state, and for smaller states, how far would you really need to go to find a similar place??? Don't make it so raccoons kill someone's beloved livestock/pets, (for me, my livestock is as beloved as my pets), and don't do it to the raccoon, where many ppl are ready with traps etc
Question... when is kit season exactly? Curious because we have a racoon family that lives out behind our house, well used to... now I think they made a nest in between my wall and tub and it sounds like there's babies too. Just wondered if it's "kit season" and if they had babies in there
@@anothergamingchannel2656 That is possible, raccoons usually give birth in April (here they do anyway) - kit season I’m referring to is when they start going out to explore, which is about 8-9 weeks after birth in June-ish.
You won't say that if you are a farmer and they are eating up your crops and killing the smaller livestock like chickens and such. They are a menace. Plus coons out in the country grow way bigger and the males are very aggressive and large and will attack you.
Nice to see people who know how to enjoy wildlife instead of killing it. Raccoons are so misunderstood thanks to hunters and trappers who perpetuate horrible myths about them so they can continue to kill them. In reality they are intelligent and sentient creatures. Thanks for sharing your videos.
I heard this sound at 1:00 in the morning. It kind of freaked me out at first, so I looked it up and this is definitely the sounds that were coming from outside. Relieved 😌

Yes, that is the sound of baby raccoons! I also have cats but do not feed them outside. Last night, Mommy Raccoon came right thru my back door thru my majic mesh screen. I woke up just in time & screamed, she ran back out, but her & her babies were just playing all over my balcony. She really seems like a sweet animal, do you think she would harm my cats (they run in & out all night), or do you suppose she is just travelling between community gardens?
thank goodness there are these types of videos because i have now identified that there is a raccoon somewhere around my neighborhood that likes going to my backyard at night.
sarai they are most definitely one of the cutest animals around but w/o a doubt they are so bad. At my moms home there are 2 outdoor 🐈 Actually they have an old garage to themselves with food water several beds including a heated cat house for winter weather. Well that was until the 🦝s made their debut two years ago. Cat food is kept in a bin which was in the garage until we started noticing that the lid was being removed. I thought those 🐈s are pretty darned smart. After a week or so I saw "A" 🦝 and realized that it was the one opening the bin so the food was moved to the enclosed summer porch. About 2 weeks ago one of the large window screens was torn to shreds & the bin was opened. We gave up & moved the food indoors. As of today there is a mom with little twins, another with triplets, and yet another with quadruplets plus an obviously nursing female. OMGOODNESS!!! Don't want to shoot them and don't have enough traps to relocate them. They are so bold & refuse to go away except for one scaredy cat (raccoon). Does anyone have suggestions on how to make them go away? Came out to the summer room (porch) the other evening to find mama 🦝 and the twins there looking for dinner. Grrrrrrrr
elbmcook raccoons are extraordinarily intelligent and will repeatedly return once they’ve found an abundance of food in a specific area. Therefore, it’s imperative all food is secured indefinitely to get the raccoons to move on. They will return daily for up to a month (sometimes longer) to learn that source has dried up. In the meantime for the two kitties who have the garage to themselves, consider placing them on a feeding schedule. Whatever they’ve eaten in a 10-minute period, pick up the food and sweep any loose stray crumbs so the raccoons can’t find these. Feed the kitties in the morning, evening and then again before everyone’s bedtime that way they don’t feel like they’re starving. They will learn to eat up what’s served in that small window of tome rather than graze as they’ve done previously. The added benefit of feeding cats on a schedule is that this help your family monitor their health. Sick kitties appetites change whenever they’re unwell so it’ll be helpful in this regard to know if they need medical attention.
Thanks for the video, they're very cute and adorable creatures. Watched just to confirm what I heard outside of my window today, indeed there are raccoons around outside, nice!
I’m here cuz I live alone in a 3 bedroom house n heard noises last night. Definitely wasn’t raccoons but I was checking just in case... glad I did they are too damn cute .
Thank you for wonderful videos, I live in Russia, near Sochi in the south near the Black Sea and there are no raccoons here. I show your videos toy students sometimes, we so appreciate them :-)
These animals are ridiculously cute, but they're also vicious predators. Was staying at my uncles farm for awhile...he had 30 chickens in an electified pen across the road in a field. Within about 5 nights the population was reduced to a mere 3, due to raccoons who'd come looking for food each night. I was amazed, cause I always thought they ate berries or something of the sort. It was like a holocaust though. We found stripped carcasses of birds entwined in the fence. Racoons aren't necessarily bad persay, they're just doing what comes natural in their little racoon world. They are however extremely clever, and they absolutely love chomping on chickens!!
***** Definitely get what your saying, and largely agree...it's in their nature. They weren't just interested in eggs though. The chickens found caught in the fence were eaten down to the bone. Racoons are carnivores for sure, and i think the word "vicious" can be applied with no problem. Animals aren't bound to the same kind of morality that humans are. A lion Killing a gazelle might come off as vicious to us, but thats only because we don't live in their world.
dean c Although feeding wild raccoons is mostly a bad idea, our rehabs have tended to come back nightly looking for food. We've found that they can't resist a mix of cat food and Cheetoes. While not 100% healthy for them, it does a very good job of satiating their hunger.
dean c I doubt seriously it was a raccoon. You'll probably had a fox or something. Raccoons always get blamed but nobody ever really sees them do it. It's because they don't do it. The stripped carcasses sounds like a fox or coyotes to me. I've had raccoons around kittens, chickens, puppies, etc and they have never bothered them. They don't really need to. Yes they're omnivores but they're super smart. They probably eat better than 99.9 percent of most wildlife. They don't normally attack anything unless they're rabid because they don't have to. Why kill chickens when there's ripe trash cans everywhere. They also forage, eat berries, fish, etc. In over 20 years I have never once seen a raccoon hurt another creature and every single time I ask people if they saw the raccoon do it the answer is no. It's always, well we had a lot of raccoons then the "insert animals name" started disappearing. Guess what? There's always raccoons, everywhere. In the city, in the country, everywhere. If one does attack another creature it is probably rabid. They're actually quite skittish around other animals. They avoid kittens like the plague and won't even look at baby chick's. They are not vicious nor are they really predatory but they are opportunistic and super smart. Think about it, if you could open a fridge and get a meal then would you go outside and rip animals through a fence to eat? Too much effort. The same applies to them. They're just not very confrontational and use their brains and their low center of gravity to get what they want, especially from trash cans.
Jamie Pinson, I hate to rain on your parade, but I have caught them in the act, 2 years in a row now, killing my chickens. They would literally come in waves, and after I chased one away from my favorite hen, a darling little Frizzled Banty Cochin, and held her as she died, I declared war on them. Thought they were gone after last year, but they are back again this year. And had another hen die in my arms this year, after visually cofirming that it was the raccoons. There is no confusing those prints! I've lost one entire flock, and had 2 more decimated. Guess what? I'm declaring war again!
Some do & some don't, but without rehabilitation the odds are stacked against the little ones if they don't learn to properly forage either from mama or rehab. However, there's always an exception to the rule as nothing is textbook from what we've learned from our vast wildlife network. Raccoons are extremely affectionate as you've mentioned. They're only reactive (viciously) typically when either provoked, scared, protecting young or sick.
Man i see these raccoons almost all the time in my back yard they never do nothing to me at first i was scare of them but now im so use of seeing them about 2 or 3 almost every night, sometimes they just chill around but i don't care no more as long if they don't attack me but so far they are friendly.
I know this is old, but wanted to say thanks for posting. I've lived in the woods 26 years and had raccoons and their babies hang around eating the fruit off some volunteer cherry trees, but I had never heard this "chirping" sound. It was actually coming from the firs in the back of the house. It didn't scare me - I knew it was just a critter - but couldn't spot it to see what it was. There seems to be more than one, in different trees, calling to each other! Thanks for solving my mystery. :)
Glad our video helped you solved the mysterious songs of the woods. The kits sound off to help mom know where they're so they stay close to one another for the 6-9 they're together.
Unless you rehabilitate them when they reach maturity & assist them to an extent on their first winter, other than that they'll learn how to fend for themselves. My mom and I found 2 babies on the road and we raised them ourselves last Summer and when September came around we let them go. Honestly raising them was an amazing experience and it made me see how biased people are towards them. Contrary to popular belief Raccoons are not violent or feral, they are quite affectionate.
Have had a large momma coon coming to our patio to dine on the cat food and other treats I put out for her I noted her schedule on my Wyze backyard cam 🥰🦝 12:30 - 1am 2-3am and sometimes 5-6am for her last morsels of the night. Just today my daughter and I noticed a fluffy little baby up in the tree, but mama wasn't around. I put a hot dog, cat food and oats rolled up in peanut butter at the base of the tree just incase. I'll keep my eyes and ears peeled. Raccoons are one of my very favorite animals ever since my dad brought a teeny tiny abandoned baby home from a job sight and we took turns feeding him, taking him to the forest and river to catch crawfish, etc. Great memories 🙂🦝 They're incredibly intelligent and darling little creatures!
That’s nice of you to rehab a kit and wild release it when it was ready to be on its own. They’re one of the most challenging yet rewarding species we rescue and rehab. If you must feed the family, consider dog food rather than cat food which is too high in protein and very hard on their kidneys. Raccoons are omnivores so dog food is more in line with their dietary needs.
Just googled "what do racoons sound like? and came up with this video. Yes, that is what I just heard behind the house. The little stinkers are probably checking to see if I forgot to bring any of my bird feeders into the shed. I don't see them, but thanks to this video I am sure they are out there.
I love watching these video's of raccoons, they are so smart. I wish the rest of the world would give them a chance to live free. My Uncle's use to hunt them till they met my N/R raccoon and they are ashamed of themselves for what they USE to do. Now that they have seen with there own eyes the other side of raccoons, how they love, and care for there family's and act just like one of my children and I have 4 so I would know about children and raccoons. Thank you for your video's
CommanderCodyHD often the sounds like these are calls to the mother so she will come to find them. If the cries persist continuously for over two days they may have been separated from her they’ll require help from a licensed wildlife rehabilitator.
@@WeeklyWhiskers that's what I thought so I decided not to go towards him and possibly scare him by accident so his mom could pin point his location, i think he got found since he stopped after 10 minutes

I'm sorry to hear about your loss. Raccoons are opportunists so it's a human's responsibility to outsmart them by building raccoon-proof chicken coops. There are many excellent articles online that provide details on how to build a secure coop so that your remaining chickens do not become victim to any masked bandit.
Yes, they are super-cute But I'm currently hearing weird scratching, running, and crying? noises _above the highest floor of my house_ (somehow). There isn't an attic, and my house has a flat roof. After doing some research, apparently there is probably still some crawl space between the 3rd floor (highest floor for me) and the roof. Anyway, I'm pretty sure it's raccoons! D:
We have a raccoon in our yard. At first I thought it was cute, but then it shredded our brand new almost $300 pool that my kids only used once. Then it killed and ate a kitten and left a small portion of the carcass in front of our backyard door with a bloody mess and his hand and paw prints in it and intestines pulled out. I was then mortified and can’t think of it as cute anymore. It costs over $500 to get someone to catch and move it to nature. Well I can’t afford that and now I’m afraid to let my kids in the yard. Help!
It's most unlikely. Some raccoons may attempt to gnaw on the window casing to try and break in whether they've been fed accidentally or intentionally from within or nearby the home, however most give up with the moderate attempt and go search for food elsewhere - quicker, if they've never been fed.

They're just not very confrontational and use their brains and their low center of gravity to get what they want, especially from trash cans.
ppl play radio's to keep an away from chicken or pet houses,im raising 2 -7 month old juviniles😍Bonnie@clyde,with 2 dogs
My friend used to have a pet raccoon and just today we saw another raccoon on our deck and it was so adorable 🥺🥰
But they still do look like little cute burglars trying to steal your stuff at night :)
Meeko's gang has arrived to steal your biscuits.😄
Man i see these raccoons almost all the time in my back yard they never do nothing to me at first i was scare of them but now im so use of seeing them about 2 or 3 almost every night, sometimes they just chill around but i don't care no more as long if they don't attack me but so far they are friendly.
Just look at these intelligent and inquisitive eyes....💟
Our property has a NEW family of raccoons. The garden has never been more BUG FREE, since their arrival! Thanks Mama Raccoon and her 4 little ones!
How do these cute chonks make this cute noise?!?!?!?
Ah hah hahhhhh😆😆😆😆😩😩😩😩😩
Unoriginal Raccoon Obby raccoons have over 51 different vocalisations including purring.
I was amazed when I first heard this sound. So much so I posted a vid, too.
I think raccoons are very cute. I've never really heard one before. Thanks.
They have a multitude of vocalisations. Thanks for stopping by.
Thank you for your uploads. I love your channel and appreciate all you do.
Have had a large momma coon coming to our patio to dine on the cat food and other treats I put out for her
I noted her schedule on my Wyze backyard cam 🥰🦝 12:30 - 1am
2-3am and sometimes 5-6am for her last morsels of the night.
Great memories 🙂🦝
They're incredibly intelligent and darling little creatures!
I don't see them, but thanks to this video I am sure they are out there.
me too bc I heard a noise outside and neighbors cat fighting
Same here I heard the trash can moving like crazy and heard the raccoons. Thought it was so creep making music tbh
Awwwwwww so cute!
what a top tier video.
i am rehabbing a little raccoon and she goes nuts when she hears this
they are adorable - sound like capuchin monkies!
MarzenaBukowska they’re adorably mischievous. We’re grateful we can rescue and help them. Thanks for commenting on our video.
They are sooooooo Cute!!!!!!!! xoxo
I heard one so I came here to check if it was a distress noise if he needed help.
@@Cipher_Nine hopefully the baby's mother did find him/her. We always prefer the babies go with her. Thanks for the follow up!
There so cute I would love to have ine😄😄😄😄🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾
Adult raccoons make deeper growling noises.
My little baby raccoon Meeko is going crazy hearing them...he probably misses his mom voice
Mommy Jin where can I buy racoon
@@dacosmicraccoon8467 A family friend gave him to us for $200, though I know there are many places you can search up that sells them .
There is a place called Exotic Animals and they sell literally everything (including Foxes) they have some Raccoons there to.
Sounds like what took up residence in my carport attic after birth this spring!
The new cat
Not bad!!...Careful though, they're still wild!
I've been hearing an animal inside a bedroom wall; it makes a cute chittering sound. It probably is a raccoon.
such cute animals! adorable :)
I have raised hundreds as a wildlife rehabber
I have 1 or 2 (+a baby for sure) living in the ceiling of my closet. I want to remove them in a safe way. How did I do that? Do you have any suggestions? I want to keep them (lol) but idk how well they get along with cats or what treatment is necessary. I need help lol
So cute I have a stuffed Webkinz Raccoon
Aw they're so cute. Did Meeko have babies? LOL!
A lot of people think raccoons often have rabies. A rabid animal will usually look somewhat sick or exhibit strange behaviors for that species.
Yes I hear this in night and thinking what is that noise
Just heard this sound outside thanks for the vid :)
My cat deadass sounds like this, it doesn’t meow for some reason
I love this video.. So relaxing
When raphtalia's family is looking for her lol
they are so cute....
I wach this video because I have a racoon in my backyard
To cute!🤗
I LOVE RACCOONS
I'm sorry to hear about your loss. Raccoons are opportunists so it's a human's responsibility to outsmart them by building raccoon-proof chicken coops. There are many excellent articles online that provide details on how to build a secure coop so that your remaining chickens do not become victim to any masked bandit.
i was just tryna find out if my cat in the sims should sound like a raccoon man
Same here. Figured it had to be a raccoon or possum, just wasn't sure what. Wanted to make sure it wasn't some tortured toy dog or something!
Adorable :3
Yes, they are super-cute
But I'm currently hearing weird scratching, running, and crying? noises _above the highest floor of my house_ (somehow). There isn't an attic, and my house has a flat roof. After doing some research, apparently there is probably still some crawl space between the 3rd floor (highest floor for me) and the roof. Anyway, I'm pretty sure it's raccoons! D:
Aww so cute!
Help!
They're so sad looking walking to the window
They are scavengers and often life is hard for them.
Raccoons are like "Domesticate us too people, c'mon!"
Awww they begging for food they are starving 😢😢💔
I have always wanted a pet raccoon and name him Binx -u- but too bad they arnt the friendlyest
I live in an area full of wildlife....lots of strange sounds at night. Some I am never able to identify!
It's most unlikely. Some raccoons may attempt to gnaw on the window casing to try and break in whether they've been fed accidentally or intentionally from within or nearby the home, however most give up with the moderate attempt and go search for food elsewhere - quicker, if they've never been fed.
