Mike the cabinets you got have weighed bottoms to help keep them standing straight. And the lateral files have a feature that only one draw opens at a time. That way they don’t tip over. Also if you come across hanging file folders the metal arms add up quick if you want to take time to cut cardboard off.
It's so crazy that just some dude digging thru trash would be so entertaining but lve been subscribed for quite awhile and I definitely watch every new video 🤣🤣🤣. Mike is the man, cracks me up

Pretty sure those filing cabinets would have a safety feature that would prevent more than one drawer from being opened at a time, to prevent them from tipping over when in use full of files. I bet if you opened one drawer at a time and then made sure it was fully shut before opening another it would have been unlocked.

I work for a landfill and people throw away copper pipe and brass valves and fittings. What goes in the trash is considered fair game. Meaning I collected all that comes in. I take to the recycling places and make money on the side that helps pay for my bills and vacation trips.
Mike I am amazed and really pleased that you are single handedly making a difference by getting the scrapout of these dumpsters. In the UK we don't over buy or throw away all this over purchase. I am proud of you kid for doing this. With the money you make you surely could come and have a visit in the UK! You are welcome to have free digs and dinner while you are here! It’s ridiculous that perfectly good hardware “and such” were destined for a landfill. Keep up the good work Mike. No matter what anyone thinks metals rule as they are way easier to recycle and reuse as compared to the plastic. If everyone picked up a snibbit like you to divert metals from landfills to be melted we would all be better. So every time you make that jump into the dumpster and face the juice remember you are doing your part in saving the world.

When I was scrapping full time, I used to love bins like the one you had all the stuff from in this video. It would make my day if I found one like that. The best one I ever came across, I found £254 in coins, €30 in coins and a few dollars in coins. All at the bottom of the bin in a chocolate tin. Someone must have been cleaning out a house and either forgot about it, didn’t know or wasn’t bothered. That’s the best score I ever had.

I just got done with my dumpster diving for the night, and I found literally 70 pressed, clean, almost brand new Land's End neckties, shoes, button down long sleeves, and pants. I think someone's grandpa died. Used each article sells from 15-40 dollars. I just had another $1000 dumpster haul Mikey!!!!! Keep it up scrapper.

If you didn't know, big file cabinets, and sometimes little ones, will lock all the other drawers when you have one drawer open. So when your top drawer was open and you tried to open the others they wouldn't open because you had one open already. It's a safety feature so that the thing doesn't come tumbling down on you when you're going through files. If you want to open a drawer all the other doors have to be closed

This brings back memories, before losing my leg I made a reasonable living doing the same thing, Over time had got to know people that would buy almost anything to do with construction , new or used in good condition.Also used to take stuff to the "flea market" at Brick lane in London every Sunday, Good times.

15th of February has been fantastic night , hard work but well done , you know so much about what ever you pick up , plus you spot instantly that small strip of wire in fact nothing get past your eyes
Mike just wanted to let you know that most lateral file cabinets have internal safety interlocks so you must close all the drawers in order to open up another one, ( Don't want it to tip over now😁) and as an electrician MY head spins knowing what those electrical connectors and other fittings cost.
Hi Mike, Enjoying your vids. Quick tip on file cabinets, in case you didn't know, only one drawer can open at a time. I saw you trying to empty drawers, one drawer was open, so you couldn't open the others. That's so the cabinet doesn't tip over if several heavy drawers were open at same time.
That loaded dumpster reminded me of a loaded one we found in Manhattan, ended up tossing the entire dumpster over ,& just throwing the trash & garbage back in the dumpster & got tons of good scrap & stuffs

Those drawers lock up when one is open, so they don't tip over on someone. You have to open one drawer at a time.
