- This is the ending for the "Arrival" DLC. Commander Shepard talks with Harbinger and is picked up by the Normandy moments before the asteroid slams into the Alpha Mass Relay, destroying an entire solar system and killing more than 300 thousand Batarian colonists in the process.

Hackett sends Commander Shepard in to recover one woman and ends up with an entire solar system being eradicated with 305,000 collateral casualties plus the woman is lost and an interstellar war may have been started. I'm sure he facepalmed at that news.
Truly a WTF moment.
Remember that one batarian on omega at the start of the game? "Things explode around you, Shepard."

Yeah, but there was no real reception for the Reapers lol. Only surprise the Reapers faced was on Illium.
As much as I love Mass Effect 2, Harbinger's voice was nothing even remotely compared to Sovereign's.
You’re right, Harbinger’s voice sounds 100x more badass.
1:50 - 2:50 God, one of the best scenes I've seen in games by far. That music, the epic destruction of Alpha relay, annihilation of Bahak system on the Galaxy map, painful death of 300 thousand Batarians and desperate Shepard. 11/10.
A very, very tasteful use of music to enhance that scene. Very, very powerful. Just experienced for the first time on this day.

In my own world I imagine Shepard slowed down/sped up the meteor to time it specifically for when the reapers arrived so it would deal an unknown amount of damage to the reapers.
Reapers travel at FTL speeds. They could easily dodge the blast radius.
Harbinger only comes out if you wait to do the arrival DLC after you beat the collectors.

it's not. i did the arrival dlc right after the Horizon mission. and there was a Collector's general instead of Harbinger.
Oto Lohnicky That IS Harbinger. He speaks through the Collector general. You don't think it's a bit odd that they have the exact same voice and say the exact same thing in either scenario?

I think its better to do this at the end as it sets up the story for why shepard was in Jail for the third game.
Do you know what makes Sovereign more badass than Harbinger? Lack of emotion. Comparing Sovereign and Harbingers dialogues, Harbinger is definitely angry. Sovereign however, doesnt give a single fuck.
AlwaysANigga Harbinger is the first Reaper, maybe he got to experience more than other Reapers or was created differently.
Agent Smith harbing was the first reaper amd sovereign the last in the milk way (not dark space).

I like to believe this is the true epilogue of ME2, and this is the straw that broke the camel's back which got Shepard arrested and taken back to Earth.

I wish this was the main story instead of a DLC. This DLC is of way, WAY more relevance to the rest of the reaper story than the collector story (which basically amounted to a side quest). Human reaper makes way less sense as a main story plot instead of, y’know, having a backup relay. And it seems like the writers of ME3 knew this, since the human reaper is almost never mentioned.

You know what’s wild to think about: shortly after the relay is destroyed, the reapers technically arrive in the galaxy and start searching for life to kill. They just can’t use the relay to jump throughout the galaxy now because it’s destroyed, but from the moment you get debriefed by hackett, the reapers are already flying through dark space trying to reach the Batarian home world, so it takes roughly six months for them to either A. Reach earth, or B. Reach the nearest mass effect relay to then jump to earth

why is it that some versions have a collector and others have harbinger?
play befor/after suicide mission. Destroy collector base or not.
Lot of people are getting an actual Reaper Harbinger for the ending conversation. I got the Collector General instead. Any reason to that? The context of conversation is the exact same however.
If you do Arrival before the Suicide Mission, you'll get the Collector General. If you do it after the Suicide Mission, however, you'll get Harbinger.

Not if you choose to destroy reapers. Maybe you will destroy synthetics but organics can always build them again. They cant build another reaper unless they find leviathan.
As many times as I've played through this series I never found a solution which you stop the arrival and save the Batarians from death...

Relays don't just shoot away any object that approaches it, ships send activation signal to the relay to go through.

Now that I think of it, if the Reapers' purpose is to preserve organic life, then why the hell all the terror talk? "Your leaders will beg to serve us"? That's more like evil machine overlords than a synthetic legion built specifically to preserve organic life. I know they wanted to save the big reveal for last, but c'mon why all the arrogance and ominous cryptic warnings?
Sovereign said "you exist because we allow it" and Harbinger said "that which you know as Reapers are your salvation through destruction" both of which fall in line with their intentions, but I don't think the Arrival dialogue was written with that in mind.

This talk just further cements my disappointment that we never got that final harbinger confrontation, and instead we got dues ex machina. I wanted to show this son of a bitch who was going to assume control.
Why do I remember the scene with harbinger different
How in the fuck has this not happened before on its own if all it takes for a mass relay to blow up like that is for a big ass asteroid to smack into it? Especially at _what looks like_ an obnoxiously slow movement speed. And I get that they are both massive too, but god damn that shit crumpled like it was fucking paper.
Actually it happened several times before. Several Mass Relays got destroyed, some of them got blasted away from their orbit by asteroids or stellar explosions, like the Mu Relay in ME1. Some relays like the Sol Relay got deactivated somehow. The Reapers rebuilt them when necessary.
I had a collector general as a hologram instead of harbinger
If you play Arrival before suicide mission you will see Collector's general controlled by Harbringer.
Why his face is so broken?
Full renegade route, no healing in the special medical facilities you can build in the Normandy.
A more technical explanation would be: Shepar'ds agressive attituded causes stress which prevents his body from healing and stress it up which causes rejection of is synthethic parts.

@@Camelotsmoon how do you even imagine fighting a mile-tall dreadnought? That stand-off on Rannoch with laser pointer against "small" reaper was hanging on a balance of epicness/silliness.
@@dimbasz I mean, the entire fleet of every race was in orbit...I'm sure they could've thought of something... Maybe depending upon how many war assets you gathered, made the fight go well and you win, or you could lose horribly.
@@Camelotsmoon It literally took like half of the Alliance's Arcturus Fleet to take down Sovereign and that was just one Reaper. If the Citadel Fleet can't even stand against a fleet of Geth ships, what can a united galaxy's fleet do against an enormous fleet of Reapers blockading Earth. We learned on Rannoch that a single Reaper Destroyer and target and hit a fleet from a planet's surface, there is no way that they can conventionally win against the Reapers.

@@JabamiLain Hate? No. The Rachni posed an existential threat to Citadel Space and was the cause for Salarian uplift of the Krogan to counter them, which then became a major threat to Citadel Space. Which then led to the creation of the genophage by the Salarians and the eventual use by the Trurians. Which now leads to the Krogan diaspora. To bring a return of that? No way. Hate? No. As Garrus would say: "There's that cold calculus again." Pure indifference.

Which it's wrong from you to extinguish an entire species, including the rachni. I understand why you'd like to see them in the back, but the times have changed, they're not the same people they once were.
@@JabamiLain You don't know that in Mass Effect 1. Even in Mass Effect 3 they've become corrupted by the Reapers and have to put down yet again. In both games they posed a galactic threat. One less threat to contend with.
