Emet-Selch is great and all but Elidibus will always hold a special place in my heart. I relate to his trauma of seeing too much too young, which led to him forming an icy exterior and forgetting what's most important because the burdens he bore were too much for him at such a young age. Rest well, troubled soul. I hope you find peace.

I hope we find him on the aetherial sea in the last tier of Pandemonium.

Way back in 2.X I lamented the loss of Elidibus and I wondered what happened to him. I lamented through two expansions (and most of a third) that we'd really not had a chance to see what he was like and who he was. He was always hinted at, around the edges, ephemeral, fleeting. And here, at worlds end, I think I felt his loss more profoundly than Emet's. Don't get me wrong, I adore Emet and I will miss him terribly. But Elidibus drove home the "good and evil are a matter of perspective". Where Emet was the redeemable villain, Elidibus reminded us that we are all heroes of our own story. Every hero needs a great evil to defeat. We were his just as he was ours. You did him proud in this tribute, and I thank you for it.

This got me... again. What he did wasn't right and it was neccessary to stop him but... his motives were understandable. Poor soul :(
I hope you are back together with your friends.

Love your content and tributes. you treat Elidibus as the tragic figure he is. We can hold compassion for him even if we must stop him and must hold him to account.

Its amazing how we can be against everything someone was doing but still understand their human side and feel for them. Great compilation.

Ever realized there is an actual difference between Elidibus and Ardbert? His beard. I hadn't realized this until long after Shadowbringers. But somehow by brain always realized the difference, from the very first moment.. as if my brain unconsciously sees more than I do consciously.

The one thing all mankind shares is the experience of tragedy, that is why we are so adept in creating, capturing and reliving it so.

This really made me enjoy Elidibus more. Don't get me wrong, 5.2 and 5.3 were fantastic patches and Elidibus was super cool in them. But unlike Emet-Selch, Elidibus as a character took me some months to digest and really fall through, to properly appreciate his struggles, his methods and what he stood for. I feel like I did not understand him properly for a while but through replaying this video again and again (it's beautiful!) and pondering more on his words, I think I reached a conclusion on what his character was meant to be. Of course the comment section here was also very useful.

Elidibus, as an emissary and the Heart of Zodiark, was the leader of the Ascians as both Lahabrea and Emet Selch answered to him. He created the Ascians and is the last one to pass away. He is also the last surviving Ancient to die, rendering the Ancients a now extinct race.

Some people may not like Elidibus as much compare to Emet but for me I definitely enjoy enemy trope like him. TY so much for making this for he's my favorite ascian.

  • @Preaplanes

I mean, technically he's not dead, or at least not if they decide he isn't. They trapped him in the Crystal Tower, which is like White Auracite on steroids, but that's step 1 of 2 for killing an Ascian. They didn't destroy the tower with a colossal ether blast. That'd be step 2.
With all that said, I still choked up at this scene.

I'm pretty sure the tower purged him the moment he was trapped within, which is better. He deserves his rest, not to be trapped forever.

He's not as good as Emet-Selch, but the perfect follow up to Emet's character.

    • @TheNerdsTemplar
      @TheNerdsTemplar  3 ปีที่แล้ว +13

I feel like with Emet-Selch , it was more personally driven, where as Elidibus felt that it was his duty. Note, that doesn't make it less personal for him, but it adds a sense of purpose to the character.

@@TheNerdsTemplar Eldibus is the closest reflection to the player., hence his form being the series original protagonist. He was their hero.

@@xKALLx1 actually for me he was more like the exarch. Just like him he tried to sacrifice himself for everybody because of the heroes he idolized. He just took that sacrifice so far that he remembered nothing but his duty...
realizing this made me like him just as much as emet.
