    Consider this from Corazon's perspective: Mingo being born evil was not just an empty presumption from Corazon's imagination, it was from years of first hand observation both before and after their prolong absence from each other's life, from a young age Mingo never did understood anyone's perspective but his own, and he never tried to, he's refusal to listen to the world around him leading to the disaster that befell their family, and thus personally destroyed Corazon's world the first time. Then he pull the trigger and killed their father, you say he didn't want to but to Corazon the important thing is that he did, and so he destroyed Corazon's world a second time. At his lowest possible point Corazon was rescued by the Marines, and naturally grew up adapting their justice, that regardless of intent sins must be paid in full. And so he will meet his own nightmare again, this time on his own terms, I am sure he had heard rumors of Mingo's cruelty and brutal efficiency, his corrupting influence spreading throughout the world both above and below, yet he still chose to go meet him, probably under some sense of responsibility for Mingo's turn, at the very least Corazon wanted to be the one to stop him. I am sure he was stunned by the man Mingo had become, further solidifying his view on Mingo's very nature, for all his claim of family Corazon knew Mingo is a man who will sacrifice anyone for his own goals, by the simple fact that he groom children into useful tools by exploiting their mental weakness (the Monet sisters, Baby 5 and Buffalo), and drill into them the idea of the importance to live and die for Doflamingo tells Corazon that this man must be stopped. No, Mingo didn't fall because of Corazon's betrayal, he was fully intended for Corazon to consume the Op Op fruit then sacrifice himself to grant eternal youth to Mingo, then there was the plot to take over Dressrosa, the one where he control the King and his men to slaughter innocents, the one where he will change anyone he didn't like into toy slaves with absolute obedience, the one where he will change into the black market capital of the new world, the one where he will slaughter to the last men with a birdcage (makes you think if a "lesser" man than Mingo can ever create and make use off) if things got out of his control. Corazon's betrayal in contrast was far more passive, all of Corazon's actions were reactions to Mingo's own cruelty, Corazon report on his activities because Mingo was going around pillaging (imagine someone under cover in the Strawhats, I imagine the reports will be full of wacky adventures and nonsense), Corazon forcing the kids away from Mingo was because Mingo had a habit of brainwashing children into his ranks, Corazon had to abandon his post to save Law precisely because his "betrayal" of Mingo is not as important to him as saving lives, in fact Corazon never once did tried to harm Mingo directly even though to him Mingo is a monster that must be stopped, he is a Marine, at most he would try to arrest Mingo for his crimes so that he may atone for them, and at the end Corazon apologies to Mingo as well (I am sure that apology was not only directed at Law) even though he fully expected to be killed, he expected the worst of his brother yes, but who was the one proving his hypothesis time and again? If the roles were reversed you think Rocinante will shoot his own brother? If you are correct that Mingo had suspicions of Corazon's true role (which I believe so as well), why didn't he feel the need to reexamine his own life choices? It is not as if there is anyone in his crew who can object if he decide to turn a new leaf and be less ruthless? Or if that is out of the question at least let Corazon escape, it is not like pirates have to kill their own family to look tough, no one even has to know if done skillful enough? Or if even that is out of the question then how a bout a prisoner? Kaidou himself is fond of keeping defiant captives, why can't Mingo?
    The truth is there was never any chance of them ever reconciling, they were too far away from each other both in distance and mindset, Mingo himself knew that in his very soul, that was why Corazon had to be sacrificed either way, if for nothing else just to eliminate his very last shred of humanity left, yes I believe Mingo was hurt when he had to kill his family because he was not born a monster, Corazon was wrong in his assessment, even though it was Mingo's own actions that proved it to him, but you know what is the most tragic? Mingo himself resented his own humanity, his sadness of losing his mother due to his father's naivete, his failed effort to make everything right again by killing his own father with trembling hands, his brother being the only family he had left yet will never return his love, all of those past experiences made him feel vulnerable, he hated his past self. Mingo must be invulnerable to take vengeance against the very world that wronged him, just as by using the Op Op fruit to attain an immortal/unaging body, by killing his little brother with his own two hands his mind will become invincible/unbreakable, he will became the true Heavenly Demon that both Rocinante and most importantly HIMSELF had envision Donquixote Doflamingo should be.

    I love how this take is the complete opposite from the usual one because this backstory makes u question nature vs nurture. Personally I don’t agree Doffy and Cora had nearly the exact same backstory but one turned out good one turned out evil and even when they were kids doffy didn’t listen to his father and wanted slaves. Doffy was also born with conquerors another inmate difference. Once Doffy killed their father that was the last straw for corazon but le hadn’t done anything like that yet and he could “still be saved”

    One question is if Luffy would allow such a deed to happen
    I dont really see Luffy accepting the exchange of one life for his own
    He has seen it happen already with his brother and it completely devastated him
    Also Law doesnt strike me as completely following Luffy
    Their paths might very connected but Law seems like his own pirate,with his own path to follow
    To tie him down to his fruit's supposed ultimate ability would not be completely appropiate

    I agree that Doflamingo is a product of the things that happened to him, but I don't believe that he could be saved, and even if he could, I don't think that mercy should be extended to him by Corazon. Corazon had to watch Doflamingo do horrendous things. He was there when he killed their father. He was there when he made that bone-chilling speech to the people that almost killed them. He was there when he manipulated children into serving him and accepting their position as tools to his own end disguising it as family. Over all, Corazon was child and much as Doflamingo was when all those things happened to them. Even if he wanted to do something, he was powerless, and I imagine he was scared. The marines gave Corazon the power to stand up to his brother. He probably felt a sense of responsibility to stop his brother. Doflamingo treats everyone in his life as a means to his end. Such is the way of the celestial dragons, that is the person he sees himself as, those are the values he chose to embody time and time again.

      There’s definitely more to unpack when talking about Doflamingo. I’ve actually discussed him in my Luffy video as well, but I’d have to think about structuring an analysis video on him without touching too much on what I’ve already said before on my channel. He’s my favorite villain in OP, so I’ll probably end up eventually making a video on him.

      Doffy IS inherently evil dude wtf? You think Doffy and Law were the same? We've seen the flashback of Law being a happy kid with his family and dearly loved his sister while Doffy, on the other hand, was a straight up Celestial dragon monster. His childhood flashback was of him looking for his human slaves. Doflamingo and Law are very different from each other. One became evil because of extreme PTSD while the other one was evil because he was born evil.

    I dont think this is correct as law was easier to fix than his brother doffy who was beyond saving.

    Doffy also killed thier father which he might not have forgiven doffy from.

  • @mysarla
    @mysarla ปีที่แล้ว +2

    This is certainly a unique take. I disagree with it, mainly becuz this perspective relies on the assumption that doffy wasn’t born evil, and I think oda left that purposely open as a moral discussion. Whichever side you choose, corazon wasn’t wrong in trying to take down doffy.
    2:58 i don’t think corazon owed doffy anything, and the mere fact that he wanted to save law, a boy who reminded him of doffy, showed his faith that people can change and some regret associated. He did betray doffy, but holding corazon accountable for doffy’s decline into darkness? It’s debatable whether cora made the right decision there but I’m honestly confused? As a righteous marine, knowing his brother’s crimes, knowing doffy wouldn’t hesitate to kill his own family if they didn’t agree with him.. what do you want him to do exactly? 3:44 I will flat out disagree with this. Saying traumatised people that don’t respond with anger is “odd”? Neither is "odd", but doffy isn’t even doing majority of his present day actions out of anger/revenge, he just enjoys it - 3:38. 3:53 huh? I’m assuming u mean the world government..? The most they did was not allow them to return. How did they cause any of that? 4:20 you bring this up as evidence doffy isn’t just black and white, I fail to understand why that’s relevant. Even before they left mariejois, doffy acted like this. It’s up in the air how much influence the celestial dragons had on doffy's actions, but either way, trauma isn't relevant in this case. 4:29 i think u just glossed over this.. "saved"? do you mean like... redeemed? if so, that's another entire, mostly irrelevant discussion... also terms like 'human' seem redundant. humans are fully capable of evil and their ability to feel emotions and undergo trauma don't change that. i don't understand where you took that corazon overlooked that or why it's even relevant since he's there to stop doffy from committing crimes. 4:52 i'm not gonna fully disagree... but there's also nothing to support that corazon holds any grudge/resentment towards doffy. 4:58 i feel like that's a stretch. law went after doffy for revenge for killing corazon and to live up to what he thought corazon expected of a D clan member. neither of which include corazon's mission to stop doffy as a motive to inherit. 5:05 again, i'm confused. what technically led to his downfall was choosing law over his mission. unless you somehow believe corazon could've talked the man who commits murder and genocide without a care into giving up his entire mentality. if you can make a case for it, i'd genuinely like to hear it. 5:21 i've never looked at law's actions as some sort of justice. he's blatantly not righteous or trying to enact justice, again, he wants to fulfil his role as a "D." 5:23 uh, sure, fair enough. i've already covered the "pushing him further into darkness" thing though. But with the whole justice thing you view law through, i think doffy's actions are on another level to betrayal. 5:31 i agree. law doesn't have noble motives, they're all personal. And yeah, it doesn't matter the context of a murder of a loved one.. i don't get how you frame that as wrong? 5:53 fully disagree. before they even formed the alliance, law clearly said that their chances of survival are extremely low (u literally say this later). they willingly agreed to law's plan and put their lives at risk. 6:43 a pirate.. being selfish.. sounds like luffy. but seriously, i'm just confused again. he's helped them with their unrelated wants (getting info about and healing the drugged kids) while all he's asked of them are with mutual benefit (capturing caesar so they can take down doffy then kaido). if anything, the straw hats are the selfish ones.
    the rest of the video is unrelated and i mostly agree with it, except for some things (9:49 law's entire arc has been about accepting corazon's unconditional love and the fact that he wasn't saved for any "purpose." it seems very unlikely to me. if he were to do something like sacrifice, i think it would be focused on himself separate from corazon. also i disagree that luffy played that much importance in law's character arc. The conversation with sengoku was the key scene, but i digress).
    i don't disagree with the main idea that corazon unfairly judged doffy, the evidence presented is just irrelevant or a far reach that ignores what is actually portrayed imo. and i don't understand how you twist that one comment corazon said into the cause of everything that went wrong, none of it links. whoever somehow reads this all, uh, have a nice day. i wrote this sleep-deprived so tell me if i made a dumb take.

    • @HotBoySpicy

      Most of this is you disregarding my evidence of trauma. You don't won't to see that Doffy is wholly black. Which is funny because Oda does a pretty explicit job in displaying Doflamingos ptsd. It seems you forgot some pretty key scenes

    • @HotBoySpicy

    • @mysarla
      @mysarla ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@HotBoySpicy i disregarded trauma at 4:20 since i cant see how majority of doffy's actions were done as a result of trauma. i also said experiencing pstd doesn't excuse him from doing pure evil. i never said doffy was black and white, i feel his actions are more relevant when talking about what corazon "should've" done. i agree doffy has pstd, but i tried to explain why that doesn't serve as evidence in the points you made. but tbf, i only remember the scene with a book on doffy's face so if there's more scenes, i'll read them.
      okay now i feel you missed some things. law saved luffy at marineford becuz of D. law's original plan didn't even include fighting doffy, he was just a stepping stone to defeat kaido. when he was fighting doffy, he talked about the D. when he thought he defeated doffy, he said he could finally attain corazon's ambition. after the fight, law said he didn't know if he lived as corazon would've wanted as a D. law has stated multiple times that a pirate shouldn't do such a good thing, why would he be enacting justice? i don't recall a single scene that would suggest that he was fighting doffy for retribution or that the D suddenly became important to him afterwards (i'd argue the opposite).

    You're correct, yet the story does not realize its own nature. Post timeskip is full of contradictions like this - full of writing mistakes. If only this were dealt with in Dressrosa, that arc would've been way more interesting. Just like Wano dropped a dozen important plot and thematic points, such as the backward traditions of its people, and the entirety of Momo's character, Dressrosa missed this important thematic arc and in the end, Doffy was just stated to be evil, and Law was the "good guy who got their wish" by Luffy, and back to status quo. So cartoony and flat.
