I want to point out a parallel between Law and Baby 5, as they were both taken by the Donquixote family when they were literal children and were manipulated by Doflamingo. And while Law believes that he has to repay someone for their love, Baby 5 believes in doing what anyone asks of her so that she feels like she's needed. They both have warped ideals on what love and kindness is, which shows how important it means to them when they finally do get the love they deserve. Nice video. I'm glad I am catching up on One Piece to finally watch this!
Their personalities are opposite. They are like the sun and moon. Luffy being the SUN god and law being associated with water (his name) and also, the moon controls tides/water (so there's the moon connection) I know I may be looking to deep into this, but its fun
At the time, we didn’t know much about law besides that he was vague, and he schemes. But he has become a very popular character, and has been a character I love seeing on panel (or screen depending I’d you read/watch one piece). He is one of my favorites.
I think Law sees much of Corazon in Luffy. The kindness got Cora killed. Luffy's kindness, although leading him to be reckless, in the end saves others. And Law cannot bring himself to reconcile these two things.
I am so happy to hear another woman talking about OP. I know it sounds weird but 99% of this community are men and their usually content is practically the same; crazy and silly theories or powerscaling, but everytime that a woman speaks in this community it feels refreshing. Aside of that, great video! Luffy and Law are an incredible example on how duos and friendships should look.
This means so much to me because when I first started this channel my main worry Was “most video essays are done by guys and a girl with a feminine voice won’t do well” but it turns out despite that I’ve started to love making these! And I completely agree about the one piece community, it’s mostly guys lol, and as much as I love the theories and wacky stuff, I wanted to explore a more emotionally driven essay on the feeling of a character, and I hope that can add some inspiration for other female fans :)
@@JUICEboxCinema000 That's a valid insecurity, sometimes as a female fan, I feel isolated by the male fandom and even frustrated by the lack of emotional analysis, especially when OP is a completely emotional and romantic manga/anime, which always make me feel that a lot of men don't read the manga in the same way. The female perception is something beautiful and it brings so many shapes and color to the work and I am glad you feel enough comfotable to still making these analysis, especially with tha lack of women in the community! ❤
@@dianahi2663 honestly I completely agree, I’d love to do more emotionally centered one piece video essays, because it truly is an emotionally motivated story, if you know any topics or characters in the series worth talking about I’d love to do more!
@@JUICEboxCinema000 Oh, I have so many chsracters in my mind! Luffy himself I found him incredible, every Strawhats is a good material. Villians like Doflamingo, Big Mom, Kaido. The ASL siblings. I have a slightly different interpretation of Law's character. The main similarity that I could draw between Law and Doflamingo is that they're both cruel as beasts when they're angry. Over the years, it hadn't changed. Law convinced himself that he was going after Doffy as a repayment of Corazon's favor. But that's just talk. Law went after Doflamingo because he was LIVID, that Doflamingo took away a person Law loved. This is why Law didn't live the life Rosinante wanted him to live, even though he was fully aware that Rosi wouldn't appreciate Law is risking his life. Law curtains his emotional sides under a veil of logic, but it's proved over and over again that he does many things simply out of emotion. This is my interpretation of Sengoku's words, not to hang a logical excuse for the love he received - which was obviously selfless. This is also the single biggest difference between Law and Luffy. Even though they're both the type of people who take big decisions on impulse (such as Luffy's frequent invitation to people he likes in his crew), Luffy is more honest and doesn't make excuse for himself. To this day Law still does that (like telling Luffy how they're enemies after the alliance ended). The difference between Law's words and actions are very endearing to me.
Right on the nail. That's why he is uncapable of recieving love. Any kind of love, doesn't really matter. I sometimes compare him with Bojack Horseman.
@@JUICEboxCinema000 Go crazy the brotherhood between Luffy and Law (outside of their D. family connection) is a story about humans and adopted families. We dont need blood to love each other.
Such an iconic duo. I’m so happy Oda made Law a bigger character than he was originally going to be
Instead of useless mid
Law is the true princess in distress in Dressrosa despite having 3 princesses there 😂

An incredible video!
Law saved Luffy because he was interested in the D name.
Trafalgar Law is my favorite character in One Piece, I'm hoping that he won't die anytime soon.
Me too, honestly I hope Oda adds more content about law and Kid and their competition with luffy.

Great video, but I did get a little tired over the looping lo-fi. Never heard this perspective on Law before though, keep it up!
