To give a little historical context - because it was so close to the border with Mexico, there were not many slaves in the area; San Antonio was the only major Southern city that did not have a major KKK presence (Sheriff Kilday kicked them out); when schools were told to integrate in 1954, San Antonio did so; San Antonio was the only major American city that did not have racial riots in the 60s. It's not that everything is all rosy, but native San Antonians are very accepting of different people - it's a military city.

I can say one thing about san antonio, texas! Yes their is racism in San Antonio. However, it not like other places in the United States. If you run into a racism it a individual choice. You run into alot of people ho don't like black people and vice-versa. After being here I found myself dating out of my race and the attitude became people are people. Their is alot of black, Hispanics, Asain that say I love that man or woman. They noticed the differences and because we lived so close together we became San Antonioins not this color or that color. We got a different culture in San Antonio texas. It is a diverse city. Although, we do see some old school bs, because like you said it is a Human condition. Many times daughter's and sons have to leave home because of negative stereotypes their family members harbor.
One history, fact is their was slavery in Texas. Santa Anna, attack the Alamo in part because of Slavery. Every place that Santa attacked the slaves was released with exception to Ms Yellow Rose for obvious reasons!
Growing up in SA I’ve experienced more racism from Mexicans than white people! I didn’t experience it from white people until high school, usually it seemed passive but it just depends on your family background and it’s strange because I don’t know why because both blacks and Mexicans come from similar struggles.. Can’t say all Hispanics are like that but it’s just from own personal experiences.
Thats a good point you make about minority groups sharing similar struggles but contending with one another. Thomas Sowell talks about that in some of his writings..you should check him out. ~Jonathan

It's so funny... I grew up in San Antonio from 1989-2001, then moved to DFW after graduating High School. Joined the Navy in 2010, and haven't been back since. I'm DYING to come home. My parents live in Schertz and I'm severely homesick. When I tell people that I want to move home, and they find out it's Texas, they say, "Why would you ever want to move that racist, backwards place?" My response is always something like, "That is the FARTHEST from my experience. Yes, I'm white, but man... I had friends of all backgrounds and no one cared. In fact, you could argue that I was minority in a lot of places around San Antonio. I remember seeing a statistic while I was in high school (Judson) that our population at the school was like 30% black, 30% hispanic, and 30% white. Everyone is just so friendly, and every time I visit my parents, I get a little more homesick." lol, right now, I'm job hunting for full-time remote jobs so I can sell my house in New England and finally come home! Great video man, maybe once I'm ready, I'll reach out and you can help me find a house!

Hispanic isn’t a race. I’ve met many white Latinos.
I was raised here in San Antonio and my best friends who I grew up with are still friends, more like family. Whenever we get together, we look like a frigging rainbow! I have witnessed racism, but the majority of those people that I see or hear, the people are unaware that they are inappropriate or "white privileged". I did move to Kansas City for 10 years, and was shocked by the extreme segregation, I found it hard to watch the hatred. My best friend while in KC was from Jamaica and as a white girl, we received the hate from people. When we'd jog, I had to run behind him so nobody would assume he was chasing me. I moved back here, to Leon Valley to raise my son. His high school was diverse and we never heard of any physical fights. When our friends visit from KC, they are in shock how diverse our community is. I know there is still some segregation here, but not as much hate. I absolutely love this international city!

They are very racist I've lived here for 7 years and am planning to move to dallas within the next year. As a single person it's not much fun either as everyone is mostly family oriented and making new friends with substance isn't as easy as other places I've lived. Especially dallas, houston.

Yeah that's what it cuts down to your real estate agent everybody's moving here to Texas from California from New York from Washington State they are flooding the state of Texas and that's okay however do not bring what your state caused you to come here Texas is a very historical conservative state San Antonio historical as well.

Before even watching this video as a resident of San Antonio Texas bexar county. This is not a racist City. There's 80% Latino 9% black and 11% Caucasian amongst other races.
My family moved here in 1981, & my sister, and I hadn't experienced racism until we moved here. My sister was attacked & knocked unconscious in school, & I was jumped on a weekly basis in school, & harassed as well. We all know who's city this is, & the rest of us just live here. I've experienced it personally in my job, because I'm outnumbered!

San Antonio is not a racist City honey. The Alamo City San Antonio is a very historical place the first four missionaries ever in Texas were made here in San Antonio. Not only that San Antonio Texas is rich in Mexican and Spaniard architecture. We also have SeaWorld which is one of three in the United States. Furthermore the Riverwalk is absolutely fabulous. Yes the population of San Antonio Texas is 80% Hispanic 14% White and the rest black

I'm telling you my experience after living in predominantly black/white cities all my life, and after living in san antonio for 10+ years. If you enjoy everything mexican, then it's the place 4 u. I would prefer to live somewhere more diverse and where my skin color is fully accepted as a dark skin black woman.

The US Air Force has been in SA for decades. USAF Basic Training is at Lackland. People from all over the country and in many cases people from all over the world come to SA. SA, Austin, HOU and DFW in TX are all diverse. I even lived in Del Rio for two years. I am not white, black or Hispanic and would live in SA.

Is the google demographics off? It shows San Antonio as being over 70% white, 6% other races and about 6% African American. But you say there’s a ton of Hispanics that live there? Also I hear there’s most of the black population in the East side. Is that right?
Hispanic is NOT A RACE. MOST hispanics choose White/caucasian as their race when they have to check off a race on paperwork which is why the demographics are the way they look. The races are considered black, white and asian. again, NOT hispanic, as it is NOT a race. It's an ethnicity. You can be any race and still part of the hispanic community if that's your ethnicity or nationality.
The Hispanics taking the U.S. census considered themselves White. So, taking that into account, San Antonio is 65% Hispanic non-white, 30% White non-hispanic, and the black population is somewhere in the single digits, along with everyone else.
I’m African American and was born and raised in San Antonio… there is no more or less racism here than any other Texas city BUT the one thing he missed on this video is there simply is not many black people here. In fact chief complaint among blacks that move here is they don’t see other people that look like them. The east side used to be where all the blacks lived but now the demographics have shifted. The older blacks are still on the east side as well as the most impoverished community of black people however most middle class blacks live in the north east part of the city and small suburbs like Converse,Cibolo,Schertz,Selma,universal city
I am moving to San Antonio and have been researching everything I can about it and from what I’ve seen it’s something like 60% Hispanic, 25% White, 5% Black, 4% Asian etc according to a couple other videos I’ve seen. But I won’t really be able to know until I get there
The city is very racially separated by sides of the city,like the west and south side is where you’ll see a high population of Hispanics and more or less white, and very few African Americans , but on the east is where you’ll see a large portion of African Americans, while in Alamo heights and the north is where the wealthy people live
