92 dream team was the best NBA Olympic team to ever be assembled in NBA history. Why is Nick talking. The disrespect to the predecessors of the game is outstanding.
It's like when Kobe and LeBron said the 2012 team could beat the Dream Team and Bird joked: "They probably could. I haven't played in 20 years and we're all old now." Only this time it's not any of the players saying, it's Nick Wrong saying it. The only way this team beats the Dream Team is if the they play against each other now with the Dream Team members in their 50s/60s.
Nick Wright is modern NBA's MR COPE. He needs to downplay the 90's to makes Lebron's era shine brighter. There would have never been any need for that if they were truly that good.
^Truth. The team that made basketball a global phenomenon is over rated? No. Goat team, 92 team had the Goat player MJ and a team chock full of guys sitting in the pantheon of greatest to ever play.
For the '92 team. When the olympics started in '92 bird was indeed cooked, he had already played his last nba game. Magic was already a full year out of the nba. Laettner wasn't an nba player yet. The other 9 players were giga stars in their prime. Looking at the '24 team, the top 3 players (lebron, kd, steph) are clearly a full 3-4 years post prime. I'd say embiid, booker, tatum, davis and edwards are superstars in their prime. It doesn't seem close at all to me, the dream team is way better than this year's team. The redeem team is much better as well tbh
In 2008 USA team had to beg a aging Kobe Bryant to come join them and save their asses because the young talent on team USA at that time were mentally weak and couldn't deal with the talent around the world. On that team the only guys who were built tough were Kobe Wade and melo. Rest of them dudes folded like lawn chairs under pressure. 92 team had a roster full of mentally tough guys. The only reason many of them didn't finish with rings or more rings is because Jordan was taking all of them.
Dead on and if it wasn’t Jordan taking the rings it was Bird before him on that terrifying Celtics dynasty team. That was also an era of greater parity, no super team garbage where guys stayed and played their hearts out win or lose.
The only thing I'll argue against here is that Kobe was aging. He had just won the MVP and gotten to the NBA finals, and this was before back-to-back finals MVPs. But it really does say something that a team with Lebron, Melo, Wade, Bosh, and more all say that they wouldn't have gotten to that point without Kobe. He continues to be underrated more by the day.
@@verholdt not sure parity is the word i'd use. lakers 5 chips, celtics 3 chips, pistons 2 chips, then the bulls win 6 of 8. but your point about guys not running to form super-teams is right on. the lakers and celtics built what are unquestionably super-teams, but did so organically. not big-name players running to play with their big-name friends because they couldn't win organically.
@@laz0rama I agree, thanks for clarifying - I meant parity to imply a natural development, smart drafting, yes there were juggernauts but they were bred not manufactured by playing the system or worse like what we saw with trade denial and draft fixing. Solid response, thank you.
This is a classic example of how power works. Let's call it the "triangle." I'll use the tenants versus the landlord relationship as an analogy. The lord of the land, so to speak, feels that his title allows him to do whatever he pleases regardless of the tenant's wishes, if he can get away with it. The tenants, in this case, Jordan and Scottie, understand that Krause uses his ownership-like influence, like the "lord of the land" which could be arbitrary. Krause also has the added advantage of not worrying about his teammates' opinions. He has no one to answer to in this triangle equation. Donald Trump wants to operate similarly if re-elected President. As Krause has exercised his power and authority to hire Kukoc Jordan, Pippen must thwart Krause's favoritism of Kukoc in their interest and have more decision-making power on the floor. Why most people do see that Jordan and Pippen, for team cohesion and effectiveness, must challenge Krause's option of "meddling" the two sides have different interests. The same applies to the landlord compared to tenants. Kukoc had yet to discover what was in his best interest, his teammates, or the general manager. All Jordan and Scottie were doing was trying to show a new arrival teammate about his teammates on the Bulls. African Americans and some others aside, although Americans are not considered immigrants. Immigrants are directed to appreciate America, not criticize it, no matter what. Even though Americans are capable of understanding some basic facts of why the rent keeps going up they dare not speak up lest they anger their benefactors.
Overlooked aspect about the 1992 Dream Team = These guys actually really enjoyed playing with each other. People who point out that Isiah, Shaq, and Nique should have been on the team = those guys would have all ruined the Dream Team's chemistry. Of course they would still be dominate, but those 50 point wins would have been "only" 25-30. So they weren't just exciting to watch because they were handily winning every game by gaudy point margins, the Dream Team was fun to watch because we could tell they were having so much fun playing.
Chuck Daily didn't take a timeout the whole time they was in Barcelona. The average margin of victory was 44 points. The Dream Team's assault on planet earth is the reason why Euro players are so fundamentally sound today. There is no player on this current roster that is better than a 92 MJ.... nobody!
lebron got big broad shoulders, if he can get his team to draft his college bench warming son think how easy it is for him to bribe a tv show to hire his promoter.
This guy (Wright) is the friend that no one liked, but had the mom that made the best snacks, so he kept getting invited to play. Always with the worst takes.
Media members (such as Nick Wrong) are responsible for spitting these false narratives and disrespecting players of yester year to build up Lebron which is just terrible. That 1992 Dream Team was a worldwide phenomenon that we won’t probably ever see again. Give those players their respect because if not for them, we probably wouldn’t see this crop of great international players and what they’re bringing to the game
💯 once LeFraud retires I have no clue what guys like Nick Wright will have to talk about. He won’t have a job. It’s going to be near impossible to recover from what I call Lebron fatigue.
Jordan, Clyde, Magic, Bird, Robinson, Ewing, Stockton, Malone, Pippen, Barkley all on the same team= game over cheat code you win. Greatest sports team ever assembled.
0:12 This dude looks for any excuse to discuss Michael Jordan. You know that Michael Jordan is easily the greatest and best basketball player of ALL-TIME because now in 2024, 21 years after his retirement in 2003, we are still having very deep discussions and very serious meticulous conversations about Michael Jordan’s near-perfect career in Chicago. Even that Nick Wright dude and Shannon Sharpe spend much more time in their respective lives talking, discussing, conversing, arguing, and debating about Michael Jordan’s near-perfect career in Chicago than they spend time talking about their favorite player’s career - LeBron James. Michael Jeffrey Jordan is on the Mount Rushmore of American professional sports, so Michael Jordan is VERY EASILY the greatest and best basketball player in human history. In fact calling Michael Jordan the GOAT of professional basketball is honestly a gross understatement at this point. Michael Jordan has been the undisputed GOAT of the NBA since 1988 (for 36 years and counting) and all GOAT debates have been far beneath Michael Jeffrey Jordan since 1998 (for 26 years and counting).
Agreed. Don't need to still be active to be considered the GOAT. Just need people to constantly use them as standards of comparison. Beatles haven't recorded in over 50 years.
Breh, the 1992 Dream Team was like seeing the Justice League and The Avengers come together as one team. Every single NBA player on that roster is in the HOF. Nick Wrong gonna Nick Wrong. I mean just his slobbering over Patrick Mahomes is ridiculous.
It's almost always these Klutch Sports clients with the nonsense too. I'm not surpised Nick Wright is featured so prominently as he's the President of the fan club.
Nick Wright was 7 or 8 years old in 1992. Too young to judge a sport properly. He would have been playing Lego or with his GI Joes, not watching the Olympics. His opinion is invalid.
Geez, Nick Wright just needs to be quiet sometimes. The ‘92 Dream Team is exactly as the nickname reflects a dream. It’s a dream come true. When at least a quarter of the team is returning to Olympic play as professionals and you have by far the most popular and arguably best players to fill out the roster, it was made to expand the league and sport worldwide.
This is the reason why I, as an American, is rooting for France in the Olympics 😂Maybe they'll stop capping when Wemby smacks these senior citizens up and down the court 😊
Nick Wrong need to never be able to talk about basketball again. This fool went to a whole new level of being idiotic. The coach for the Dream Team never called a timeout 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 Now Nick is about to put unwanted pressure for Team USA
Jordan was a worldwide phenomenon in an era with no social media. Lebron is not a worldwide phenomenon in an era with social media. People cheered for kobe and not him when they were both at the Olympics.
It hurts my brain listening to Nick Wright. He changes the goalposts for literally every single point he tries to make, and when that doesn't work, there's always the classic "the '90s are garbage."
imagine thinking you are getting a break when MJ comes out only to have to deal w/Drex. Good luck man, you got gassed by MJ now you dealing w/another that could get to the rim or shoot anywhere on the floor. Magic comes out, there's stockton a magician in his own right passing the ball, and one of the dirtiest defenders in the game. Bird was coming off the bench for Pippen and you got 1 of 2 bullies at PF in Barkley and Malone. Ewing and the General were legit rim protectors but more than capable of scoring. There was no breaks, there was no soft spots there was no weakness; and every one of thse MF's were hard AF mentally to boot.
A very OVERRATED NBA Media Claims Dream Team WAS OVERRATED, missing the point that the current NBA IS HIGHLY OVERRATED and that team would smoke any team in the current NBA
The 1992 team would dominate whether they played using 1992 rules or 2024 rules; the modern guys couldn't handle getting mugged on every possession like players in the '90s did and the original Dream Team guys would have a field day with today's offense-heavy rules. Bird in particular, even old and broken-down as he was in 1992, would rain threes left and right.

Nick Wrong forgot the Dream Team has 11 hall of famers. There are at least 3 players of the 11 on the 2024 team that aren't on pace to go in right now between Bam, Holiday, and Haliburton. Booker and Edwards could probably be included in that group too.
This doesn’t even need to be defended honestly because admitting that a group of near-retirement old men beat the brakes off of the world’s greatest makes team USA MORE IMPRESSIVE not less. That means even at retirement age, they are still winning over those playing during the prime of their careers and the best of the best.
Nick Wright likes to talk a lot about stuff he never witnessed. MJ won gold with college players. Lebron didn’t win gold twice with pro players. Bird is his prime is arguably better than anyone on the current team.
The 90s was so bad that they spend more time talking about it (trying to tear it down,) than they do talking about today's players. Its so good that most of the airtime is taken yp tslking about LeCircus...thats not even about basketball at this point.
International competition wasn’t bums at all back then. Quite the opposite. Up until 1992 the pros weren't allowed in the Olympics, only amateurs. In the World Cup, where the pros were allowed, the Soviet Union and Yugoslavia kept winning, that's why the Dream Team was such a surprise to the whole world, especially because they beat everyone easily. The USA didn't have a strangle hold on Basketball, the Soviets and Yugoslavians were better. The US only kept winning the Olympics because of their collegiate system, the other countries' best players were already pros at that age, while the US college players would compete as amateurs, giving the US an unfair advantage in the Olympics and the Russians and Yugoslavia started winning there as well, while winning most of the World Cups(Pro Events) already. 1970 WC Yugoslavia 1972 OP Soviet Union 1974 WC Soviet Union 1976 OP USA 1978 WC Yugoslavia 1980 OP Yugoslavia 1982 WC Soviet Union 1984 OP USA 1986 WC USA 1988 OP Soviet Union 1990 WC Yugoslavia
They had prime Jordan and Barkley, not to mention all the other hall of famers, which means they could compete with virtually any team in the history of basketball.
LOL!!! The Dream Team could suit up with a bunch of 60-year-old players and still find a way to beat this team from 2024. The 1992 squad actually had the greatest team passing and the greatest team defense in history.

The 1992 team didn't have to deal with united USSR or Yugoslavian teams. Not that the Dream Team wouldn't have beaten them- they just would have faced legitimate competition. The world's #2 and #3 squads imploded between 1988 and 1992 for political reasons.

@@blacksource2101 Nick is spitting facts, and your fragile ego can't handle it. 1992 players, are over-rated trash, this is just a fact bud.
Why is it that this current generation of sports "journalism" attempts to make current stars great by trashing everything that came before?
For the '92 team. When the olympics started in '92 bird was indeed cooked, he had already played his last nba game. Magic was already a full year out of the nba. Laettner wasn't an nba player yet. The other 9 players were giga stars in their prime.
Looking at the '24 team, the top 3 players (lebron, kd, steph) are clearly a full 3-4 years post prime. I'd say embiid, booker, tatum, davis and edwards are superstars in their prime.
It doesn't seem close at all to me, the dream team is way better than this year's team. The redeem team is much better as well tbh
92 Dream Team would make the 24 team implode on each other and start crying about calls.
Exactly.
Nah 2008 was definitely still prime Kobe. "Aging" Kobe is about end of 2010/2010-11 season onwards.
I’ll never forget when Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen locked up Toni Kukoc after hearing how much Jerry Krause loved him
Toni played much better in the Olympics finals. Earned their respect.
“We wanted to guard him on the bench!”
There is no player on this current roster that is better than a 92 MJ.... nobody!
Overrated team wins Gold? Jordan won the NBA Championship along with Pippen against Drexler? Ok. This is really about LeBron.
How Nick Wright has a job continues to be mind boggling 🤷🏽♂️
Subconsciously you know why
What you mean he takes care of Lebron that’s a no brainer
Early life privilege
lebron got big broad shoulders, if he can get his team to draft his college bench warming son think how easy it is for him to bribe a tv show to hire his promoter.
This guy (Wright) is the friend that no one liked, but had the mom that made the best snacks, so he kept getting invited to play. Always with the worst takes.
At this point i should just stay off yt i don't watch network tv anymore yt is next im tired of these bs narratives

Michael Jordan has been the undisputed GOAT of the NBA since 1988 (for 36 years and counting) and all GOAT debates have been far beneath Michael Jeffrey Jordan since 1998 (for 26 years and counting).
jordan is this kids whole identity
MJ is possibly the greatest athlete of all time not just the greatest at basketball

there is not a team in history that the dream team would not wipe the floor with.
imagine thinking you are getting a break when MJ comes out only to have to deal w/Drex.

The 1992 team would dominate whether they played using 1992 rules or 2024 rules; the modern guys couldn't handle getting mugged on every possession like players in the '90s did and the original Dream Team guys would have a field day with today's offense-heavy rules.
