"Alveo Vera" is one of those instances where you can really see how they thought of the pun first and then designed the whole plant around it to justify it having that name. :D
Could you explain that pun? I love puns but english is not my first language.
@@RealEmar "alveoles" are the name for, among other things, the small bubbles or cavities in your lungs that give you enough surface area to actually exchange enough oxygen and CO2 with the air you breathe to survive. so that's why it's a plant that's good at oxygen production and CO2 removal, and why it has these little bubble-like dots on its leaves.
And of course the name is supposed to sound like "Aloe Vera", which is likely why the plant looks like it's a succulent.
@@RealEmar oh, and also the adjective used to refer to alveoles is "alveolar", which is much closer to "Alveo Vera", with a bit of artistic license on the pronunciation.
"There's nothing new here"...literally a new dupe type on the right! I get it, though.
Yeah I was practically screaming at him to look right😂😂😂
"What's the purpose of the wood storage?"
"It looks nice!"
It also gives you a visual on your wood stocks since the pile gets smaller over time
Watching you miss the wood heater got me heated.
Definitely...I'm screaming internally... HEATER!!!
"PEM-mi-ken" - It's dried meat that's ground up and then mixed with the fat of whatever animal you got the meat from, and then usually buried to preserve it. The indigenous peoples of North America used it as survival food because it lasted so long. Imagine beef jerkey with no added flavourings unless you mixed berries or something into it six months ago.
If you have ever played Rimworld, you would be familiar with it.
@@markh.7650 highest efficiency food
@@markh.7650 Or you watch Towsends or Tasting History lol.
@@Klerkules Not in Rimworld no, Nutrient Paste is the highest efficiency at 300%. Second is Baby Food at 200%. Third is tied Simple Meals and Fine Meals at 180%. Finally Pemmican comes in at fourth with 160%. The benefit of Pemmican is not its efficiency but rather its long shelf life. It's great for caravans!
Yay! A Frosty magnet adventure. Nice to get 'away' from the hot summer temps mentally at least. 🥶🥰😀
Instead of Ultra Supreme Max difficulty now this time it's only Icy Harsh Bleak difficulty lol.
Anyone else got "What's this? What's this? There's color everywhere. What's this? There's white things in the air. What's this?" stuck in their head, or is that just me?
same, so excited,
Well, not until I read your comment. But now I suspect it'll be stuck in my head all day, and I'm okay with that. :P

YAY, a coat for Meep! XD .. This DLC looks like so much fun!! The new critters are sooooo cute.
Tbh, I haven't picked up Spaced Out yet, I really don't like that it changes some of the base game critters and plants (making wheezeworts and shinebugs radio active rather than introducing a new variant for instance) - however THIS, this I want, asap!
Can't wait to see more! Best of wishes to you and your fam!
Best wishes to you as well!
Yeah I literally only got Spaced Out, like, two weeks ago because I had a lot of the same feelings. I ended up going for it with the thought that you can disable it entirely if you want to go back to the base game ruleset, and with that in mind it's pretty fun.
Bammoth = Bunny mammoth.
Mmmmm, that makes sense!
A chilly DLC on a hot summers day? Excellent :D
Make your wires out of mercury; Then watch them melt at room temperature...
Loner is not a new trait btw. It came with the Spaced Out DLC I'm pretty sure
Sublimator is also not a new category, it's been in the game for a while now.
@@Anomen77has it? I’ve only seen oxylite and bleachstone under “consumable ore”
I already know I'll be staying here for awhile🍿
Omg wow that’s so cooool!!! I’m so excited about a new dlc even though I never even finished a spaced out playthrough of my own! Lol
Keep Dupes warm at night with the wood stove and that keeps them happy. Warm clothes help when not at home :)
Just when i thought the ride was over! Really enjoy your content.
So hyped! What serendipitous timing!
This is so cool! I had no idea klei where going to make more oni content!
Carrot on its knees 😂😂😂
Oh man, I had no idea there was another DLC in the works. Can't wait to check out the series!
Ooh! Very excited for this new dlc! 🍿
Personally, I enjoy listening to you “ohhhing” and “aweeing” over the new stuff 😂 I know you’ll kill them… I totally get it…. But the fox guys are just so cute 😂
It looks like every dupe roll gives you the Freyja with the frost-proof trait in the third slot, I've seen it in both videos I've watched and also my own playthrough. From the number of times you rerolled and checked her I'd guess it's a guaranteed trait for her.
I got refinement fairly early for the rock crusher so I could put it right in the middle of everything for the heat it produces since I don't have water for an electroliser (or, you know, a super computer...) but I hadn't actually looked at the cinnabar ore yet and when I went to use it it turned out I was going to be refining it into liquid mercury, which seemed like a bad idea. Had to wait until I dug into iron ore and it's still not really *heating* so much as making it slightly less ridiculously cold. I think I'm going to need to get mesh tiles under the wood burner and dump ice and snow on that tile but I think it will just re-freeze as soon as it drops lower, even if it's only a single tile. I'm really jealous of your slush geyser, and on getting a ranching dupe on cycle 3. I only got 10 cycles in but I still don't have a rancher and I want to get that up asap, it's going to be the first thing I do when I get the super computer running.
Why Cinnabar ore gets turned into mercury and sand instead of Mercury and Sulfur, when it is only made up of mercury and sulfur, is beyond me.
I found the perfecr video to watch at 1am
me too bro
Can’t wait to see what happens!
Finally, something winter themed in winter
Very convenient timing!
Thanks, Mag! Interesting new DLC. :O
Freyja is Bubbles' successor! Long love Princess Freyja!
31:06 Fun fact: when duplicant is carrying food to it it they get starvation immunity. Even if their callories drop to zero they will not die unless they drop that food.(for example to catch a breath)
This has saved me before!
OMG I'm soooo excited ❤
Its insane that they managed to make the cold-management an interesting mechanic. Usually people just try to cool shit down because of all the heat machined produce. But now? Damn... Love it
And unlike Rhime you cannot simply heat everything and melt it, because most of the new critters and plants die at human temperatures.
@@Anomen77 that’s honestly my favorite part. It’s a actual frozen ecosystem and not just a cold planet you gotta heat up asap you wanna coexist with the cold, not get rid of it
Oh shit! Here we go again 🍿
Don't worry, we're here for the "Whats this? Whats here? What's THAT?" :D
I guess all the researchers are going to be Anemic now.
And we got a cool steam vent... and whelp the planet melted.
I tried this and found out the wood heater thing is pretty useless. Get space heaters ASAP, as they cost relatively little power and can heat a room to liveable temps. But then again i only tried this for like 10 cycles so who knows
Space heaters are really bad. From my experience on rime best early game heaters are the normal batteries. They provide reallly efficient power to heat ratio even if the ammount of heat they produce is small you can easily spam them in places.
6:40 It's the pips evolved to incorporate the tree.
Pips = Evoli ?!?! No way
@@LeGrey Well evolved is the wrong word in a world where every life form is a genetic experiment.
oh nice mercury is actually in the game now!!
i have now realized mercury is not a fun material to work with lol
@@lsdxhostile8245 Yep. Melts at ~-40C
nice timing from klei
So stressful! Especially the buildings melting during construction.
Can't wait to play Baator again now that the materials like Mercury are fully in the game now.
1) Click the furnace thing! Sorry it was bugging me.
2) Its Pem i (Like ick) can. Pemmican. Native food. Good stuff.
free beta for a dlc is pretty neat
Thank you, more please
"This looks like a beefalo"
I didn't know you play DST or DS! will there be a time you'll be uploading a playthrough?
Not sure, maybe someday! I haven't played in a while and don't claim to be an expert or anything :D
"lets make this hard on ourselves"
oh gods
Aw man seeing this just made me remember that Frost Punk 2 is gonna be coming out. I'm so pumped. Anyone else from this community have interest in that game?
The first dupe you took on the planet was called meep. Sounds like he is gonna get stuck on a slime astroid by himself again. poor meep.
I still haven't figured out the use case for mercury. It does work for liquid locks, but so does petroleum. It likely works nicely for applications where you need a single drop of liquid to protect equipment operating in a vacuum, but again, petroleum will do that job in most circumstances. It does have really high thermal conductivity for a liquid, but usually the thermal property I'm interested in for a liquid is heat capacity, not thermal conductivity, and mercury has terrible heat capacity. In any application where you're building things out of refined metal, you could use some other metal without the high risk of melting.
Hi magnet. Really enjoy your content. Could u please show more times de temperature filter in your gameplay, i think its interesting to see the general temp of your base. Thanks keep up the good content. Cheers from brasil
The mercury building though? Don’t new buildings have a set maximum and minimum temperature when build? I thought it was 15c and 45c if the melting point of mercury is below that you can never build anything with it. 🤔
20C and 45C, as also seen in the video when building farm tiles and they're suddenly too warm for the plants, when made of -20c dirt.
And yes, that means no mercury buildings. I hope the devs fix this..
18:00 Ughhhh mate!!! loll
Missing the employment research twice!
By god we got actual wood ladders!
I wonder if the "pee and vomit" strat is a real strat for heating up a room 😂
RIP that +18 Husbandry rancher for a Meep lol
+18 Husbandry with Anemic, Allergies, AND Bottomless Stomach, any one of which is on their own considered to be a hard dealbreaker by many. And only the supremely unreliable Rock Fan, for a positive trait.
_Maybe_ if this was way back when Husbandry was bugged to only go up from hugging eggs, but that hasn't been the case for years, lol.
@@jadekaiser7840 this is true. I saw the +18 and that’s all the farther my eyes went.
@@mollymorse5931 I know the feeling XD
In the early game you can use wooden tiles as an insulator.
Using now normal igneous tiles will not keep heat near the kettle.
Igneous rock insulators are 5 times better.
51:10 hmm i remember something about buildings always being placed at iirc 20c no matter the input material temp
I love how you missed the wood burner like 20 times but it’s okay just be the best magnet you can be lol
Batteries. Lots of batteries. They always produce heat unproportional to the size they take up. If you thermal wall your living quarters, the batteries will keep the area warm without consuming any resources. The smaller batteries produce more heat. It's the easiest way I know how to get warmth in the early game on cold biomes.
yeeeeeessss!!!
I'm having problems in this Frosty Planet Pack Beta because the Ice Liquifier is locked away behind the Advanced Research Station, and the Wood Heater ain't melting its surroundings...
Edit: Looks like I didn't notice it unlocking in the Utilities tab via the unique structure, the Research Portal. :)
You know there is a search bar in the research tree screen :)
This asteroid is almost as cold as Minnesota
It looks like the melting mercury and hot farm tiles might be the same bug, related to a construction heat deletion bug: They appear to be built at a default temperature [20c if I saw correctly] and not at the temperature of the materials. in the case of the farm tiles, they quickly drop to below the growth temp, but the blueprint seems to be raising the temp of the mercury to 20c before the object can be completed to share thermals with the environment. a 50c difference [-30 to +20] is huge.
intentional behaviour that it's clamped to 20C to 45C, presumably to fix some issue that people had in the base game, but I agree, the devs have to change the limitation to make building from mercury possible, and it'd help stop the confusion with "why are my plants too warm" as well.
@@AlexanderBurgers Also, Bammoths are hot. like 40-50c, that may be why his food in the ranches was dying. Thankfully, unlike Drekos and Pips, Bammoths and Floxes can be fed from a feeder at the same efficiency, so you can grow the crops in a more controlled environment and ship in the food. 2kg/day for 6 Bammoth and 4kg per day for 8 Floxes
I think you don't suppose to warm anything and pick 3 dupes with immunity to frost.
It is surprising nobody actually died from cold on highest difficulty possible...
Surprised you made it so long without a wood heater
The reason to build research near start 15 % research the light
I live in Poland and its 1.24 here. I checked steam but its still in ,,coming soon'' status so is it only available for content creators or will it show up for me too? Btw i love your video's i watched the super duper hard series to like ep14 but sadly i forgot about it but keep it up, you're great :D
btw i just heard ,, Were edge'ing ever closer to getting this done" you can even check the captions, he really said it. 50:35
Right click Oxygen Not Included in the Library > Properties > Betas, you can play it anytime!
I looked up the instructions. After enabling it in Library > Properties > Betas apparently you're supposed to go to the Installed Files tab and verify the game files as well, but I'm not sure if that's actually important or not.
I'm confused.. We had frozen metrors/worlds before.. I'm not really seeing anything that much different
Make a favor to your dupes and put wood heaters in their bedrooms.
They seem okay with the coats, and I don't want to waste the "coldness" I have :)
@@Magnet_MD it's just warming dupes, not enviroment
That fox looks like drawn by a toddler.
how did you get this its not out on steam??
It’s free for the beta for 3 week. Just put the experimental beta patch and yoûre good to go
43:36 is it just me or are the power connect icons really large
when a building is build it reset the material's temperature to 20 or was it 40 degrees. so how do you build with Mercury?
i guess you don't? maybe it's idea is to use it as a liquid most of the time.

I have played a lot of Rimworld! I've still never heard anybody pronounce it though, so it feels weird.
How did you get this???
right-click on your ONI, properties and go look for beta, it's free but becareful it might corrupt your save file if it release

Thank you!!
Some of my favourite moments: not noticing the new Freyja dupe in the starting dupes; not recognising Loner from previous play throughs of Spaced Out; oohing at all the new things, totally me. Is the new dupe gender X?
Yes they are!
@@CelesteLovesThePRC LOVE!!
The new dupe is gender F from what I've seen, but maybe they are planning on changing it?
arent you that one guy who wanted me to pirate the game for him?
How do you get beta?
found the answer about beta, thanks
sad there's no new t3/4 skill, new critter has no morph making them obsolete outside starting scenario, shallow diet limited strictly to new plants, and no new tech that expands late game.
It's not out for me, Uk
Guys, need help to understand some jokes in new content. I'm not native English speaker, so I'd like to hear your opinion. Bammoth = bunny + mammoth - that's obvious from their appearance. Flox = they looks like a mix of fox and jackalope, flock is word for group of animals AFAIK - but I don't get this Flox word - what am I missing?
Alveo Vera = Aloe Vera + alveolus? Kinda make sense.
Bammoth poops with patty - is that a joke about cows poops?
The alveo vera is a reference to the structures in your lungs (alveoli, in English) that help filter and exchange oxygen and carbon dioxide in the body. The little wiggly hair-like bits that get mucked up from disease and chronic smoking. You've got the other joke down. It's a cow patty/dung reference.
i hate that content creators get the exclusives i went to download it earlier today and its not out yet.
anyone can play this
You can access it anytime in Steam if you right click > properties > Betas
