The nurse told me to clean the tubing and water tank once a week with mild soap. Clean mask pillows everyday and replace them every month. Replace air filter every month. Use ONLY distilled water in the tank.
This is really important I never had a ear infection in my life until I started using cpap even though specialists don't believe in a link though actual users on forums talk about it. Other users also suggested backing off pressure slightly though talk to doctor first. I stopped getting ear infections once I backed pressure off a bit and got into a thorough cleaning ritual.
I have a Resmed 11 . the heated hose on it is much longer than that one you show on the video. Even if I wash it in the morning and hang it up to dry, as opposed to laying it on a towel. There is still moisture beads inside the tubing at night. It's never been totally dry in one day. Especially in the summer when humidity is above 55 percent in the house. I've had it almost 3 yrs now. with an annual checkup with respiratory Dr. I see him next month and will address my issues with him.
I’ve had this same issue with the ResMed AirSense 10. I let the tube sit all day to dry it out, but when I need to use it it’s still pretty wet inside. What I do is I use the “Run Mask Fit” function from the “My Options” menu which just continuously blows pressurized air through the tube (without the mask attached) and pushes out all the excess water droplets. It dries the tube out pretty quickly. Not sure if that’s recommended by ResMed, but it works for me.
@@adamkieffer6827 upon seeing my nurse practitioner , I told her of what you said. My version of resmed 11 does not have a setting like that. However she said to just hook up the hose with an empty humidifier chamber and run it for a few minutes. It activated the heating unit and was dry in less than 5 minutes after hanging for part of the day.
If you're washing your mask frame, humidifier, and your hose with soap and water DAILY, you're doing something wrong. Your silicone mask itself, however, SHOULD be washed daily and it only takes a few minutes. No special soap is required but a non-fragrant soap will be best so you can avoid a strong perfume-y smell in your face throughout the night. All this talk of mold, Mold, MOLD! Turn down your humidifiers and turn them completely off after use while running air through them and the hose to dry-out any remaining condensation. Use distilled water in your humidifiers so you won't get the build-up of minerals in your reservoir, thus saving the white vinegar for once a month or so. A chimpanzee with a pencil in its mouth can do this. I do.
Why is it that noone addresses how you completely submerge the hose with the electrical end on it on the ResMed AirSense 10! What do I do to get it totally clean and dry for daily use!😮
When I want to clean the parts of my CPAP machine, I DOUBLE CLEAN everything. First, I place the little parts into a pot filled with hot water. I add some dish detergent and bleach, give the water a stir, and let the items sit and soak for a while. While they soak, I DOUBLE-WASH the canister and hose, also using dish detergent and bleach. The smaller parts, when taken out of the pot, only need to be cleaned one more time, since I consider that they already received one cleaning as they sat in the pot. All the items are then reinstalled onto the CPAP machine, and I let the machine run, drying out the different parts for a few hours before I go to sleep. Although it may be considered best practice to clean the CPAP parts on a daily basis, the busyness of life makes that difficult. I use a pillow mask for one week, and then switch to a second pillow mask for another week. At the end of each two week cycle I DOUBLE WASH all of the items of the CPAP unit as I've described above. One caveat: common sense indicates that the length of time between cleaning cycles should be shortened if sick with a respiratory illness.
Bleach and detergent should never be used! Only liquid soap free of perfumes and chemicals. I use 7th Generation dish soap and it’s easy to find and easy to use. Gentle stuff.
As a former Respiratory Therapist- please clean your CPAP and BiPAP or replace it. As often as your doctor tells you. Dirty equipment can really harm you.
How are u supposed to clean the machine they said stop using so clean and ozone stuff through the machine cause it harms the machine and voids the warranty
Why are all of these videos and articles titled "how to clean a CPAP machine" but none of them talk about the machine?? The hoses, masks, and tank are not the machine itself. There's no way to clean the actual machine? Why doesn't anyone talk about this??
I don't believe I need this stupid thing it is a pain to clean I hate it My pressure is only at 5 to 7 others wise I get in the morning burping and passing gas
What type of mask do you use? Maybe switch it to a different style like a nasal or pillow. If you're new using it, it may feel weird and burdensome. After a few weeks everything should feel better.

That's what a sleep study is for. It determines if you need them. I didn't think I did, I'm in my 30s and 140 lb. It turns out sleep apnea was causing headaches that triggered my migraines and caused fatigue. Just a week into using it I went from dragging myself out of bed to not feeling the need to sleep in and the only headache was caused by not sleeping in a good position for my neck as I wasn't used to the mask and how to sleep with it.

Yes, most dish soaps should be perfectly fine. Dawn would be great.

What exactly is a mild soap? Examples?
My client uses a cpap, and she uses dawn dish soap to clean hers
My CPAP therapist recommended baby shampoo.
I use Palmolive free and clear dish soap, no dyes or fragrances

You don't need it
I got one at a restaurant supply store but you can probably get on Amazon.

My CPAP store said to run the machine with hose on and the air will blow out all the moisture
Excellent video. Thanks a lot!
What kind of soap do you use
My sleep therapist recommended Johnson's Baby Shampoo so I've been using that. I've only had my CPAP for 2 months but it seems to be working well.

Don’t use bleach!! Dangerous for your breathing and will degrade your parts.

How can you clean on a daily basis when the hose will take more than a day to completely dry?😢😢😢 I guess I will have to purchase multiple hoses.
Sinus infections almost killed me from using SoClean!
A DAILY basis?
