Very informative. I've been recording piano tracks for 10 years running my keyboard directly into my keyboard into my laptop into audacity, and then mixing tracks. My laptop is dying. I got a new one but there isn't a line in from piano to computer without a lot of noise. So it's time to upgrade how I do things. In my research, this seems to be a good, affordable place to start that even this senior citizem could figure out who knows very little about engineering sound and mixing. I'm looking forward to upgrading my knowledge and my sound. I subscribed to your channel. I will be back.
I am trying to connect my Audio Technica BPHS1 headphones to the headphone jack in the back of a Presonus Studio 24c audio interface, and the connection seems to be 1 cm off. If I shove the cable into the audio interface, the playback is fine in the headphones. But if I leave the cable where it naturally sits, there is 5% volume in the playback. Do you have a suggestion for how to fix this? I got a replacement, and the same problem persists. Thanks in advance.
Warning to anyone checking out this interface: Myself, along with many others, have had issues with the instrument preamp. Essentially, when plugged into the 1/4" jack, with the input volume all the way to the left at zero, your guitar will still clip the interface. The only solution is to have some sort of preamp in front of the audibox, or a volume pedal etc., to turn down the signal before it hits the Audiobox. Clearly, there's not enough headroom in this for plugging your guitar direct into the 1/4" for use with an amp sim etc.
Lol I've used this interface for 7 years now I think and it always confuses me. But still I record the guitars like that, I just turn down the volume on the instrument tiny bit
@@demondrug7788 I ended up buying a DI box to run in between my guitar and presonus. It's fixed the issue, so thought I'd share in case you get sick of turning down the volume on your guitar lol
Sir I am very tired of asking everyone. But I did not get the right advice from anyone. Some say to buy a dynamic mic, some say to buy a condenser mic. I want to record my poetry professionally at home. Please tell me a good mic and audio interface which gives me professional sound quality within my budget. My room is not Sound proof, My total budget is 350 dollars for audio interface, mic and headphones.
1. Acoustic Treatment: You don’t need to spend money to soundproof your room. When recording, try to create a booth for yourself either by hanging thick blankets, using pillows, or maybe even recording inside of your closet at home. If you’re only recording poetry speech and not instruments then you can easily make that budget work. I would use the Audiobox 96 (if you get a new one it should come with studio one artist version) That means you’re out $100 for the audio interface. Headphones are relatively cheap. I would recommend the Shure SRH440a headphones. They’re at $100 but are commonly used in studio for recording. Here’s a rode condenser mic with pop filter. I started out with an NT2A and I believe it’ll be the best thing for your budget. If you can go used with the microphone that’d save you a lot. So I got the Studio 24c and registered it today, but that didn't unlock the software license. At least I can't see it in "My Products". Did I do anything wrong??
Presonus have dropped the Artist version of their software 🤔 I don’t work for Presonus but check your account on My.Presonus.com I believe you can still download the software from Presonus.. the first time you run the software it should ask for your code and if you want to link to your Presonus account
Great Video, I need help, in the first place I couldn't download Studio Artist, I only had the option of Studio One and also download Studio One 6 Professional, can I still download Artist? On the other hand, I have a lot of strange noises when using the audiobox, simply to listen to music or when using TH-cam, any recommendations with this?
Hmmm… I would try downloading Studio One and usually during the installation process it will ask for a user key or serial number. Check the bottom of your Audiobox. The long serial number can be used to activate your copy of studio one. If you bought the box used from someone else you might have to get your own copy of Artist if they didn’t transfer the license. The strange noises is most likely your Audiobox not being configured correctly with your system. Are you windows or Mac? Go to Presonus website and download Universal Control Again, if you can get Studio One up and running you can go to audio device settings within Studio One and adjust the sample rate and block size… I know it’s a lot but I’m trying to paint this picture with text 😅 If you’re on a windows machine go to your sound settings and make sure your Audiobox sample rate is set to 48khz. The block size needs to be higher for more stability.. your computer is basically trying to process audio and once you tweak those settings you should be good
Not sure which dials you’re referring to 🤔 The gain knobs will depend on what mic you’re using and how much gain they need to reach about -12db to -18db in Studio One… The Playback knob for the Audiobox is usually at 50% when I’m recording and then at 100% when mixing.. you’ll notice the volume of your DAW or software is much quieter when you are listening to your inputs.. the headphones and Mains knobs shouldn’t be cranked.. you’ll hear some hissing if they go past 75-80%.. hope that helps!
What was the gain setting on Audiobox USB96 when the electric guitar was recorded (It was DI, right?)? Was the volume control on the guitar turned to full?
I usually always have the guitar volume at 100% and yes it was a DI with no effects or amp simulator 😅 not sure what the Audiobox gain was at, usually don’t have to turn it up past the 50% position. Aim for -18db on your input meter in Studio One. Thanks for asking! Hope it helps 🙏
I do have one but I am sick & tired of using it since i am always experiencing some crackling noise often. I had gone through all the settings from youtube then i literally stopped using it after few days
I understand! 😅 You might have already tried it but it sounds like the buffer settings need to be higher? Pops and clicks are usually issues with buffering. Having 1028 or higher should keep things clean but you’d have more latency
@@vinodhsinger The playback knob on the front of the interface that blends from inputs to playback is there so you can avoid the latency issues when recording. Most cheaper interfaces have that available. It could also be your computer? I don’t work at Presonus 😅 that’s all I can think of.. I’m using an RME interface as my main device but this Audiobox is still usable to me
Hi, I have a problem when I connect my audio interface to my PC. It generates a lot of noise, like electrical interference, which is very annoying and prevents me from making clean recordings. I am using the AUDIOBOX USB 96 interface and the RODE PODMIC dynamic microphone, but nothing I do seems to work. Thanks and regards.
Hello! Great question! Noise plagues most of us 😅 I wouldn’t say it’s primarily related to your Audiobox.. do you use a power conditioner? I can’t emphasize enough it’s very important to have everything in your circuit (Pc, interface, guitar pedals, speakers, monitor, etc..) on the same power strip.. I also would try separating your power cables from your signal cables.. power blocks that are commonly found on electronics are really really noisy around microphones and audio equipment.. As far as your Audiobox I would try a different USB cable. They make an adapter for usb cables that supposedly works like a ground lift.. try setting your interface away from power sources if possible.. make sure phantom power is off if you don’t need it.. try recording audio and bounce your tracks out.. you should be able to tell if it’s noise effecting your recording or just your listening position.. If it’s printed to your recordings (you hear the same noise when listening to recordings in your car, AirPods, etc) then you may have a bad mic or mic cable. Sorry for being long winded! I know your frustrations but I have not had noise problems with my Audiobox if that is any consolation 😅
If you have an Audiobox from Presonus you should download Universal Control from the Presonus website.. it’s in their downloads section and just download whatever version goes with your operating system. After it downloads you should see lots of Presonus products to choose. I’ll post the link shortly 🙏
😬 yeah that is usually something that is transferred from the previous owner.. if you can still massage the person, they can transfer their ownership from their Presonus account over to you.. basically it will ask the seller to provide the email address associated with the buyer.. I’m not sure you need a serial number necessarily.. the interface should work with other DAWs or if you get a copy of Studio One Prime or Plus
@@heychrisgreen haha thanks for the reply, I bought it at the op shop😭 not looking good for me. I think you can use it without the software. It sucks that presonus does this honestly but it is what it is🤷♂️
I recommend downloading Universal Control. Once it is installed, restart Studio One and you should see multiple audio devices to choose from.. if that doesn’t work try a different USB cable if you’re not using the included one. legacy.presonus.com/products/Universal-Control/downloads
Too rushed and gabbling for beginners and you failed to point out the differences in 1/4 jacks, which can cause disappointment and frustration when the wrong type is used. Make a tighter script and be clear on each point. Show insertion of plugs, zoom in on what is on the screen. Your approach here is laid back and might suit some people who already know a bit but when it comes to beginners that style is not good enough. Thumbs down this time.
