    I like Emerson knives. They are really stabby. The Kershaw versions bring Emerson's designs to those of us who resist paying $250 and up for something we may donate to the forest floor or lake bottom. I have the tanto version.

    Ah prince of Persia, so remember those games, it does look like a Persian scimitar, while I understand the draw and attraction to lightweight portable doesnt-feel-like-i-have-it-on-me knives
    One of the attractions for heftier blades for me is that I know there's power behind the cuts (lightweight = light duty, often times) and I do like knowing and feeling the presence of the knife in my pocket, also heavier knives to me is yet more evidence of the blades quality that can stand up to more work;
    Good review

  • @charlesd.erbjr.7089
    @charlesd.erbjr.7089 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I have both Kershaw/Emerson and Emersons. Both are great. It fills that niche when I don't want to carry a $200-$300 knife. Don't forget the Emerson frame locks are more expensive. The Persian design is tried and tested design. Certain designs just speak to you regardless of the weight or practicality. I'd rather save weight in my load out in other areas than my knife.

    As someone who's used the beater kershaw's for just that (getting beaten with fairly heavy use) I can definitely agree that they are pretty well put together and tough I have a skyline and a scamp (discontinued long ago) that are still very serviceable and the only reason I stopped using them was because I wanted something new haha but they went through hell n are just like my old trusty chevy c10... a little busted up but with a little work here n there can still get the job done! Pretty amazing considering got them both for a little less than 40 dollars years and years ago!

      Yeh same. I carried plenty of “lightweight” knives, under 5oz, and yet my favorite to carry and my daily carry knife is a buck 110. 7.2oz and “heavy” even though I don’t see a difference between that and my 3oz (maybe) Ganzo.

  • @eqlzr2
    @eqlzr2 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Mine that I got today is D2 steel. It's marked right on the blade. I immediately ground off the wave hook, like I do to all my Emerson knives with that feature. I don't like the accidental deployment that often happens with the wave feature intact. Not worth an accidental slash in my skin or pants.

The Dark Earth G10 scale on one side & 3-D Titanium on the Other is perfection ~ imho. ...OR the Rick Hinderer FIELDTAC 7” Fixed blade Knife is the BOMB. One or both to test-review would, I think, generate great viewing... JUST ONE GUY’S THOUGHTS.

    Whats the best way to keep it rust free then? I live in a fairly humid place

    • @RubleInnawoods
      @RubleInnawoods 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s a stainless steel, as long as you keep it dry and/or wipe it off when done using, it won’t rust. In case it does develop spots, just use baking soda and water mix on it. Let it sit 30-60 min then rub off. But if you take care of your knife by keeping it dry when done using, it’ll be fine.

I wish kershaw would have different levels of their knives with different steels, like buck does on some of its knives, this in 14c28n would be awesome.

It doesn't need to be M390, but at least give me CPM154 or S35VN or even AEB-L...I frankly yawn big time when I hear that a certain crap-tastic steel is "easy to sharpen". I'll take a steel that I almost never need to sharpen, because when I finally do, there exists several means of sharpening even the most abrasive resistant steels out there now - I just don't dig the idea of needing to sharpen a crappy steel all the time..."but look how easy it was to do it!"
