Wow, thanks for etching that Tremolite. I just posted a video inquiring about a few rocks I have from Grace Lake and Titanite hill. I thought that they may be bladed Tremolite. After seeing your specimen. I'm almost certain. The rocks I have from Grace Lake are really dark smokey quartz with grayish bladed Tremolite mixed within it. And the Rock I found at Titanite hill appears to be Blue Bladed Tremolite mixed with Calcite.

Funny thing I got a puppy(Black Lab) named Maisie who needed lots of walks, I live beside the ocean and on my many walks with Maisie I discovered a great source of turquoise chrysocolla copper etc, so naturally I took to TH-cam to see what other rock hounders were finding and I discovered you and daisy!!!! FYI lately I’m finding cobalt(I think) so I’m hunting the metals you suggest are found when cobalt is near!!! Anyways best wishes from the southwest of Ireland(formally New York)
@@meMiner i took your advice..got a wet tile cutter, armed with a new blade i began slicing ….amazing ….beautiful ….now I’m adicted…have to go find samples daily and then back home to slice, its like opening Christmas presents!!! Thanks for the tip
I am so jelious of how many different minerals you have up there! I live at the bottom of New Mexico in a town called Las Cruces and we have the prettiest mountains that you ever did see! It is dry and hot in the summer time so it isn't a good idea to go out into 110-115 degrees ferinhiet to rock hunt. I found a large crystal at the salvation army for 2 dollars! I couldn't believe it! I found out it was from Mexico and called a desert rose, she is a beautiful specimen and I love her crystal rose pettals, they are beautiful! It came from a place call Ojo de la casa Samalayuca, I can't even pronounce it but that is where my crystal came from! I wish I could attach a photo!
Tremolite Greig!! Keep that other piece and have it analyzed! Be interesting to see what it really is? It's very hard to determine by eye secondary or pseudo minerals from Cobalt. I have a few that I've set aside to have looked at one day.
One vote for Tremolite. ;-) There is a place in Orillia that has an XRF. If they are not too busy or are interested in buying rock for refining, they will test and give me the written results. I should do that again. It is really interesting to see the content, although it is from just a little spot on the rock.

That would probably work. Or the name of your town and "rock", "mineral", "fossil" and/or club. The great thing is the cost to join is probably tiny and the people you will meet will be interesting and knowledgeable.
I'd go with the tremolite, if the silver was sliced I'd say go with it but unsliced just doesn't do it for me. The tremolite crystals make a better gift.
You can leave it alone or try to extract. If you try to extract, you can do it mechanically (cut/slice or break) or chemically (etch). Etching only works on some kinds of rock, so you will have to know the kind of rock that you want to remove. A quick test will tell you if the "bad" rock will dissolve and the "good" crystal will be unaffected. If the bad won't dissolve or the good does, then you are stuck with trying something mechanical - saw or hammer/chisel. Good luck. It could be a fun project.
Lol my two cents first again !!! 😱 🐓 🐔 🐣🐣🐣 🐤🐤 💕💕 I actually found a huge rock today that is 95 percent calcite with one black 2 inch Stripe going through it .it weighs 20 pounds !
If you want to have some fun, take a small one with the green/black and calcite. Put it into a plastic bowl and add regular white table vinegar. It may take a while to dissolve the calcite, but it will work. See if there is something interesting that gets exposed.
I have not tried it but the science says it would clean silver, especially if combined with baking soda. Same for gold. If one could get very concentrated hydrogen peroxide (I cannot), then it could become rocket fuel when silver is added. I recall that the stuff women use on their hair is about 3% (and usually they dilute it further). For effective fuel, it would need to be over 85%.

Drain the Lakes was really well done. I would love to have Lake Huron in my backyard. I am a certified diver. I did not get into the water at all last year. There are a few spots to dive for crystals that I want to check out. That would be an excellent video. I need to fix my GoPro (scratched lens), so I can take it underwater for some treasure hunting.
Man , that would make for a decent video!! And ts nice here but i live in the polluted part of huron im sure. ..the Northshore, Cameco and a Lime plant are close by . Also the Pronto mines . Most of the summer their is ususlly a sign on the beach saying not to swim bcs high levels of "bacteria" aka chemicals. Would prefer to live on a lake out in the boonies . Like a mountain man LOL even the fish around here , there is a limit to what u can comsume per year due to mercury and whatnot. More so in the Elliot Lake area. But.. Then again most food is harmfull . Rather croke eating walleye and lakers lmao
I am lucky. I am on a private lake where you can still drink the water. I have been places in the north where I would not wash a spoon in the water. I would have thought Huron was so big that it would be clean. I can tell you that I would not eat the fish near Cobalt Ontario due to contamination. I have seen people who do. So far, none have dropped dead the next day, nor grown any 5 leg frogs out of their foreheads. Then again, why take the chance?
tess99991 hahah yeah i seen that on your previous video , looks beut out there !!! , im sure the bigger part of the lake is fine, but the northshore is small and shallow . , It might not affect them today or tmro , but good chance of longterm damage from it . my brother lives in elliot and hes a die hard fisherman , slowly watching him develope schitzophrenia i think LOL , huffing Radon gas and munching fish from tailings lakes . no goood man
I think my cred. was hurt when I talked to one of the fisherman in Cobalt who had a large pike. I leaned out the window of my truck with a smoke in my hand and said "you know, eating those things from this lake is not a good idea". LOL

For sure there is tremolite in both locations. Blue bladed would be cool. I have found clear and grey.

Try slicing some of that copper. Sometimes, they are outstanding inside.

I've found something simular to that it is about 60% calcite with 34% granite and 6% off some dark dark green lines
Is the stripes dark dark green because mine are thought they were black at first.

I don't like etching all of them, some I have no doubt are better un-etched
I have plenty that are unetched. I was actually hoping to expose large clear tremolite crystals, which are very rare.
