The woman at the end is actually the actress that played Vickie in Friday the 13th Part 2
When the dude “ distracted” the killer I literally counted every strike the killer made while hitting the dude with the axe….i counted 85 strikes LMFAO
Lmao. I stop counting after 40 something
Hahaha I did the same thing, just saw it tonight. I remembered someone saying it was “at least a few dozen times” so I decided to count after the 3rd axe strike and also got 85 😂
I loved the part when they were hiding and going over the plan to trap him and he hears everything 😂😂
Could you imagine being paralyzed knowing a metal object is coming toward you. I’m sure the Ranger was just waiting for life to end. At the point of beheading, Johnny was just having fun with the body. 😂
Did Jonny break his spine?
The ranger couldn’t move in the log splitter scene because when he was laying on the floor with his back turned and Johnny kind of crunches his spine and that’s when he screamed basically paralyzed him from the head down
Kills: some of the best ever, acting: some of the worst ever
The yoga girl kill would have been so much better if she reacted like a human being imo. Still really cool kills though lol.
Mom: We have Jason at home
Lmao
Sounds like a perfect ASMR horror movie to fall asleep too. Seriously
One thing I feel everyone missed was how in tune Johny is with the forest and his senses. He has like super hearing about everything it was fantastic. Then the ending when it was focused on the girl….it sounded like a normal movie, confusing forest type thing. Thought that was amazing
This must be the only horror film you have seen. It is the slowest and worst film i have ever seen in my life. Don't get me wrong, i love nature. I love murder. I love horror. But this? This is a shame. It is a waste of time and space. The ending car scene, with the conversation? Dear God. I couldn't wait for the driver to shut the f*** up already. Pointless dialogue that went nowhere or connected anything.
@@ChannelZero1031 I’m actually a huge horror fan which is why I’m able to appreciate em from all different angles:D
I did notice this! At first I wasn’t sure but he clearly has some type of super hearing lol, being able to hear people whisper towards the end, or hearing their conversations through the cabin in the beginning.
@@ChannelZero1031point *whoosh* over your head and everyone else’s it seems.
@@drewmcgill5290 I have seen boring and slow, but this one took the cake. Just calling a spade a spade.
When the red truck pulled up at the end I thought it was going to be his mom or someone he knew because the way the killer was playing with the red truck earlier in the film seemed like it reminded him of something. Maybe it’s just cause it was like a toy he had Idk I thought it could have been a good ending. Maybe that’s too much like Mrs. Voorhess from part one
The only time I was bored was the last 15 minutes in the truck (you'll know it when you see it), everything up to that I thought was fantastic and so well done, plus the cinematography and sound design did lull me into a state of calm despite nothing happening. The shot in the flowers with the sunset is ICONIC. I'm a huge fan of Gus Van Sant's Elephant (and Gerry, Last Days which adopt the same style similar to this one ) and it felt like if GVS directed friday the 13th. I agree that it reminded me of playing a video game, i love horror games, and this would make for a great one, all the victims felt like NPCs including the dialogue etc. I was ready to give it a 4/4.5 out of 5 until it shifts to another character, and again, that damn truck scene, which with a few tweaks could have worked, but ultimately it's just dull. 3.5/5 for me. But the kills were some of the best ever, especially yoga.
Yeah the truck scene could have been edited to about 4 minutes or so. We did not need so much pointless dialogue.
I pretty much agree with just about everything you said in your review.
The kills , effects, sounds, scenery were all on point . On the kills where you see the victims face clearly , I kept watching the eyes, to see when they switched to a dummy or something, and I never caught any switch outs ,and the scenes didn't cut either, so I was impressed with the kills.
I didn't care for ANY of the campers , lol. The numerous
" crunch", "crunch " , " crunch " scenes walking through the entire movie got to be a bit much.
But the last 15 minutes of the movie really brought my rating down . I've watched an interview with the truck driver / Friday part 2 , actress, where she said she did a take where she emphasized words during her first take, but afterwards the director told her not to do that , so her entire story time hour was said monotone.
I do think the movie is definitely worth watching for yourself, it does have great qualities to it. But it also has a lot of down time.
I believe "Johnny" last name is Voorhees in this movie . He HAS to be Jason's cousin , lol.
I got major Jason vibes from Johnny. The kills were awesome, but the acting and story could've been better. For a slasher, I had higher expectations, but it was still ok.

Just found out that the lady in the truck was Vickie from Friday the 13th part 2
She was good! HATED what they had her do but she did good at it lol
I'm just now finding this out. Thats cool
@@WeWatchedAMovieI’m surprised that so many people hated the monologue 😭 it wasn’t entertaining for us in the least, but it was SO realistic in the fact that she was only rambling to keep the girl conscious until they could make it to the hospital. I truly thought that was a perfect ending.
0:43 Don't threaten me with a good time! 😅
When he paralyzed that guy and he had to watch himself getting effed up. Sheeeesh
Great review! I loved how different this movie felt while also feeling very nostalgic. 8/10 for me - can’t wait to see what they do next with this
I actually appreciate the ending! It's the one part of the film that completely strays from the "generic" slasher. In all other slashers there's a huge final jump scare / final showdown, but the final girl here just decides to not even try her luck after seeing Colt hacked to death. She realizes there's NO chance she can defeat Johnny and just... bails. Her venture through the woods then absolutely psychology breaks her. She thinks Johnny is after her even though Johnny lost interest. That final homage to Halloween is akin to what they tried to establish in Halloween Kills being that Michael didnt care about Laurie at all.... just wanted to kill. Johnny just wanted his locket and to kill.
This has to be my favorite review from you! I can’t wait to own this on physical media . I hope we get a Mediabook or steelbook or a slipcover with fresh art!
What I learned watching this video: It's important to have a firm grip on the shaft.
The girl driving the car at the end is Vicky from Friday The 13th part 2. Pretty cool she makes a cameo. But yeah the ending coulda showed us more then nothing at all lol.
"In a Violent Nature" is easily the best "Friday the 13th" installment Paramount and New Line never got to make.
I think that the prequel idea is great. They said the spirit of the kid came back. I think he possessed one of the giant lumberjacks and killed everybody and that’s the walking corpse we see in this movie.
Great review, Mike 🤗
I loved the ending personally. We've had so many horror films filled with cheap jumpscares that totally destroy any tension. This film has pretty much no music. No creepy tune to build up anticipation for a jumpscare. It leaves you completely clueless as to what they're gonna do. There are no jump scares for the entirety of the film, yet the ending is perfectly setting up for a big one. Yet again no music, just building dread, and anticipation for the scare we all expect. Except there isn't one. It leaves you feeling uncomfortable and confused. You don't get the satisfying loud soundeffect to cap off the emotions you're going through. The same creepy feeling just dwelles with you as the credits roll.
I. Loved. This. Movie!! I saw your no spoiler video on it and it made me seek out where it was playing.
But YOU LIED! 😅You said there was a kill during the camp fire selfie part. I was on the edge of my seat waiting for a gnarly mass kill. Dammit dude you got me. You got me 😂
He said he thought there was going to be something by the way it was set up. & how it would've been crazy if there was like a mass kill cutting off all their heads but that's not what happened, and he wasn't going to spoil anything.
But I'm glad you loved it! I haven't seen it yet, but I am interested when it comes out on VOD. Some people didn't like it because it was slow and boring at times. Or another TH-camr Cody didn't like what one of the people making it (director? Can't remember who it was) had to say at whatever festival he went to. But everyone kept agreeing it had a really crazy yoga kill. So that intrigued me a lot. Can't wait to see the kills now specifically that one 😅
My only question is has every time he went on a rampage in the past was that because someone took his locket? Does he just get up and kill sometimes but if you take the locket you are REALLY screwed?
I loved the idea, but I it was extremely drawn out. They edited some time out but not others, the dialogue and acting was awful, needed way more kills to fill the time, and better kills. The wood cutter one was boring for me. And really hated that there was no music. I felt that could have helped make some serious moments less laughable. But like I said I did enjoy some aspects of it. Some kills were good, and there were moments that really relished in the concept. So I really don’t know how I feel 😅
I want someone to make a video of that final kill and then include that kid from The Simpsons who says "Stop! He's already dead!"
Spot on with your thoughts on the ending. I have seen some people who like it but just did not work for me at all. But the stuff before was pretty damn cool even with all the walking. May consider a rewatch some time.
Naw, what makes this film different and cool is that it is not edited for the low-attention span phone-gazers. The long takes and sound design are supposed to make you feel uncomfortable. It is literally about being stalked slowly and methodically by a predator through the wilderness hence the "violent nature" pun in the title. It is also why we are not given victims to empathize with or detest - that NPC vibe is totally intentional because they are simply prey that wandered into hunting grounds and awoke the wrong hibernating animal. Did you totally miss the F13.II lady's bear speech at the end?
Agreed I loved this movie don’t understand how so many people think it’s boring. I thought the way was shot was very effective and intentional
I just have to say this about the "yoga death scene". I don't understand why she just didn't jump rather than take the death sentence that she got! The cliff had a slant and there was water at the bottom! Jumping and sliding down the hill would have been much better than the fate she got, lol! And then she kind of just stood there like "Go ahead and kill me" for a few seconds before he actually did, lol! It was a cool scene but also kind of dumb at the same time!
This worth it for us, the Friday the 13th fans? Some say yes. Others. NO
To pay for? Idk. To watch? Definitely.
I mean Friday the 13th fans have a variety of different tastes.
@@thomasffrench3639I love the Friday the 13th feeling in this movie
I love Friday the 13th and this plays as an artful, love letter to F13.
I thought the movie was super interesting. Focusing solely on the killer makes some scenes seam unrealistic like someone chucking the keys into the woods out of anger, but I mean that is literally something some dumb ass character would do in a lot of 80s slashers. I think it played off the meta a lot and just put it in the killers perspective and a lot of those little nuances got undermined. Also the log splitter scene he’s not just calm he’s paralyzed because he broke his spine so he couldn’t move haha. That scene was messed up. The ending scene it shows the truck drive away and shows the bed of the truck where you can’t fully see inside it so I felt like they belt the tension off of thinking he is in the back of the truck but after like 20 min dialogue he wasn’t in it. Felt like the suspense was built really hard in that scene but didn’t give us what we expected so I overall enjoyed the ending
I liked the visual and practical effects. His look reminded me of Jason and brightburn.
The log cut scene was the “Terrifier” esque scene not the yoga kill. The realism in the sawing the person is the most disturbing and realistic shit I’ve ever seen. This movie in particular felt like a snuff film at that part. Easily my favorite Kill in some time. Extremely disturbing shit!
Bro I thought the same thing. The yoga kill was super rad and fun and then the log gutter scene was just super disturbing. It was so drawn out and you could hear the machine the whole time and how he paralyzed the dude and he couldn’t move made it so messed up
The worst part was when the KiIIer drags that unconscious cop dude around to the shed and puts his arm and head lnto the wood machine...i timed it, it literally spends 5 minutes of the kiIIer dragging the guy around, prepping him up, and putting his arm and head into the machine...it was loud and put me to sleep during that scene. Worst part lol
What? That was the best kill of the movie.
@thomasffrench3639 its been done better in old movies like City of the living dead and Absurd...it literally was 5 minutes of dragging and prepping the body...U really enjoyed the entire scene ?
@@gaba-goo3733 that’s what made it great. It’s so f’d up
@@thomasffrench3639 i loved every scene except that one because it was very long.
@@gaba-goo3733 I thought it was generally just okay, but that was a standout scene
Caught this one earlier tonight and came away liking it quite a bit. The extended walking / stalking shots didn't grate on my nerves if only because the whole movie seems like a response to the question: How the fuck does Jason always catch dopes when he's just walking all the time? Haven't quite decided how I feel about the ending just yet. For a movie that, structure aside, featured the most generic maniac in the woods plot ever, choosing to forgo the final confrontation / jump scare / sequel tease felt like a really weird place to subvert expectations. Would definitely be down for a prequel or a sequel, and very much agree with Mike's assessment that we'll need some much stronger Final Girls / Loomis figures to fuel future installments. Excellent work as always, good sir!
Its gotta mean something that the pov goes completely to the girl at the end right? Wonder what they meant by that?
@@Wetcamerainc My interpretation is that Johnny's finally satisfied the moment he gets the locket back (which he presumably collects once he's finally done pulping that poor dope's head) and having achieved his goal, trundles back to the fire tower and goes back to sleep. Actually showing him doing so might've made things a little clearer for the audience, though it also would've undercut the tension built during those closing moments when you're sure he's gonna make a last appearance.
I used to love these movies but something about aging has me repulsed by simulated murders. What are we thinking?
The ending was smart. It got completely rid of the killer pov and switches to a more traditional horror aspect, so that means Jump scares are coming? WR0NG. It just makes you think a final jumpscare cliche is coming...like the Carrie, and friday the 13th 1980 Jump scare endings...and since this movie had ZER0 jump scares... the ending makes you wait and wait for that one big jump scare, but you NEVER get that one jump scare...it's smart. I was ready to jump HllGH at the end of the movie when they pulled the car over. Bravo! It felt slow in some parts and boring, but overall we got a GREAT slasher film for the summer
Totally agree! That is exactly what I was expecting. There were several times that I was expecting Johnny to run out of the forest and attack the ladies, especially when the driver pulls over to stop the bleeding. I also like the ending where it showed that the necklace was gone.
Loved it. In A Violent Nature was an awesome slow burn slasher film.
After seeing it all the once silliness you thought from Slasher Films will make sense. From questions like: how does the slasher Thats walking slow while the victim Runs always seem to Catch them” or why all the time does the slasher always seem to “teleport” from one side of chase scene to the another” or “what does the slasher do on their down time-are they always hunting or walking around or do they sleep, etc . Very well done movie. Shows all those answers and in this film. As for the end of the film, the ambiguous nature of the ending leaves room open for several different kinds of sequels. For EX, SPOILER WARNING 🚨 : The Final Girl’s survival suggests that Johnny truly was driven solely by the drive to relocate the locket, as he doesn't appear again after that point in the film. While Johnny had already proven his lethal bonafides, his decision to let Kris escape suggests his rampage was specifically tied to the locket.
Loved it! Very cool movie! Can’t wait for the sequel.
I was looking behind my back the entire time lmao!
@@anthonycastillo8055 me too. Lol
@@juanizquierdo1737 I was freaking out during that shot of her staring into the woods lol.
I think the guy he just kept axing was the one who stole the pendant that’s why he was so pissed at him.
Poor Johnny was so happy playing with the toy car. Sweet scene.
After watching it, I didn’t like the ending, but while it was happening, I was for sure on the edge of my seat waiting for something to happen. Also it was cool to have the same actress from F13 pt 2 in this! 🎉
I liked it too...the guy with the axe machine...pretty sure he broke his back that made him paralyzed? Or am i the only one that thought that?
that's what I took from it too
I like the way looks without mask. But I wonder in sequel if the mask changes.
Am I the only one who thought that Johnny could hear them whispering like a slasher super power 🤔 but you nailed it, it’s an art house slasher. There’s a lot of potential but that ending was too pretentious for me. Other than that it was straight
In 2 minds whether or not to see the physical media release of this 🤔🐾💜👍
as someone who has never seen friday the 13th (i plan on it don't crucify me), after reading these comments i'm glad i hadn't seen it before this. yes i know that it heavily inspired this movie but i don't think i would've like the movie as much if i had. i can now go back and watch friday the 13th and have a great viewing experience and see where this movie takes the inspiration from
I loved it,however you hit the nail on the head, some things could have definitely been cut out. The kills were amazing I m calling it Terrifier the 13th! The acting was terrible but I'm wondering was that done on purpose??
I just saw it. TBH, I think it should have just been a standard F13th formatted show, especially since it'll be who knows when before we get another F13th movie. In a Violent Nature had it's moments, but yeah it was boring for stretches and that ending would not end. Give us a sequel, but fuck it don't get so artsy and just go with Jason type killer at a lake.
At least they did something new you know
i like the last 15 mins where the shift is now to Kris. Kris is becoming a killer. With the trauma she saw and the whole night and day of running. Her mind has changed completely and shes becoming a "high tension" lady. Remember the movie is about the killer's perspective. So forget Johnny in the last 15mins. The new killer is Kris at this point and if there will be a sequel then it's her doing the walking around the woods. Remember she was holding a lighter. She will take that gasoline and burn that lady and she will take that axe as well. Part 2 lets follow Kris
Yeah definetly more comparable to Friday The 13th or Hatchet than Terrifier
I just saw the movie and I loved it sure it’s slow at times but I still love it I like how the killer is basically Jason voorhees but with a different mask
I just seen this movie. I couldn’t stop laughing. After seeing some of the kills. I have to say listening to you talk about this movie was better than watching it 😂
I really enjoyed this Film. You HAVE to go into this movie with low expectations I’d say. So you won’t be disappointed by the Ending. The movie was complicated. It was Simple and to the Point. To its detriment. We’ll see.
"A Walk in Nature" 😂 in theaters now!
I liked it for how different it is from other slashers in terms of how it is shot but it's also just boring when it lingers for a bit too long on Johnny walking.
When you order Jason from Wish
Ehh...went to the theater...Ehhh😂 Yoga kill was nuts 😂
This movie was definitely a relief, considering all of the shitty horror films we've been given lately. I agree with the pacing being a bit too slow, but overall, I enjoyed this one and will definitely be adding it to the collection when it's available. I hope we get some sequels!
I mean Abigail was better than this movie. I’ve also heard that Late Night with the Devil and Immaculate was also great.
+ first omen
@thomasffrench3639 I haven't seen "Abigail" or "Immaculate" yet. But yes, "Late Night with the Devil" was a great movie in my opinion!

I don't usually feel like a movie is a waste of time but this absolutely was. 50 minute short film stretched way too long
You didnt like WISH Tommy Jarvis? Lol
It was okay. Kind of boring kills overall. Horrendous pacing. And that ending… Jesus what a wet turd of an ending.
I really wanted a different movie, I guess. That ending felt like F13 fan film sacrilege. How did you NOT end on a Mamma jump scare? It was right there.
Watched it last night..What a load of shite! It was soooooo slow and boring 😴 So disappointing 😞
I absolutely hated it. Terrible acting and incredibly dull.
TOTALLY DISAGREE with the ending feedback I’ve seen on TH-cam.
Spoiler alert: The ending has a “twist” and I haven’t seen it explained at all as that. The lady who picks the final girl up is very familiar with what has been going on in the woods but attributes all of the deaths (up until this point, which she isn’t aware YET of all the new bodies that will be found in the woods) to bear, coyotes and other “animal” attacks. It is perfect irony to the final girl. Then she says a quote that puts the perfect bow on the film.
“Animals don’t get too hung up on reason”.
Johnny IS the animal and as that isn’t rational at all with whom he kills or how he kills “
I think that was obvious but it wasn’t at all a twist. Nothing happened
For all the doofuses online who keep saying the movie was boring or trash they obviously don't appreciate good cinematography and are losers!
The movie was trash! I want good shots in nature, I’ll go watch Planet Earth. We had no story, horrible acting, and just a bunch of wasted potential. You can watch 10 minutes of the movie to sum up its entirety. Don’t get but hurt when others have different opinions than yours.
Good cinematography can only take a movie so far
Some people aren't happy investing time and money for what is essentially a short film stretched out to 90 minutes
I was slow at times but I still loved it
No it’s cause it was a trashy ass snooze fest 😂😂😂 don’t trash people who didn’t like this movie cause there was A LOT to dislike 💀
The story about the bear was actually about Johnny. There was no bear.
I actually liked the ending a lot.
OOOOOOOOOOHH good on you man I'm a fuckin idiot for not realizing that. Still hate the ending but it does make it a touch better to know.
Just got done watching it, two people left 15 mins in. Great movie tbh, ending was kinda ehhh but still good. Loved the yoga girl kill.
Just saw. It. I really liked it…way more than I thought I would. A little trivia for you…do you know who the lady was who was driving the truck at the end and picked her up in the dirt road? Hint: she is a victim of Jason in Friday the 13th part 2
Yoga.....anyone ?????
I think the biggest question everyone has is "Why are you so sexy"??? This movie looks AWESOME!!
This WHOLE movie was BULLSHIT and boring AF. Yoga shorty had NO REACTION to getting killed mortal kombat fatality. I want my money back
Word for word lol this comments better than the full movie
This film was highly disappointing. One great kill cannot save this movie. Extremely SLOW, no character build up, dialogue was horrendous and the acting was below average. Only one other time I wanted to walk out of the theater (Black Christmas 2019)but I kept holding out waiting for something to happen and it never did. Ending was nothing but a waste of time. Entire movie was a waste of time. Just google the Yoga kill and you have all the entertainment this film provided.
Your the smartest guy in the comments literally was searching for some common sense and thank you lol
I honestly didn't mind it
I didn't love it but I was fine with that because we need more in horror , we need different shit every now and then so I fully respect anyone that really enjoyed it 🤟🤟
