EMPI sells a kit of side cover stiffeners that works wonders in making those oil tight. It includes longer studs to install on the side covers to cover the additional thickness of the stiffeners. Well worth it. Always a great idea to (as much as possible) get rid of any dimples around the holes on the side covers and resist the temptation to over torque those fasteners (they go at 14 ft/lbs torque).
I’ve heard that the red gaskets are double the thickness of the tan gaskets. You can use both thicknesses to find the sweet spot in terms of axle tube free play.

adding the 4th gasket would create MORE space, not less, thus the play

When is the next video coming out? I am hoping to see final assembly. Are you putting any gasket sealant between the paper spacers and the plate?

    • @johncollins5552

No, don't risk that silicone crap getting into the gears. Make the sealing surfaces super clean and flat. Only use a smear of rubber sealant as used in pucture repairs around the end of the axle tubes when you put the rubber boots on.

If you are compensating for wear, you remove shims, not add!

If your sliding the end housing back on the axle tube, do you have to slide it on a certain position?
