- Part 1 of the Transaxle Assmebly for the VW live axle that will go into my Subaru Rail Dragster, where we install the gear carrier and check for proper shifting. Check out the next video where we install the ring gear/axle to finish up this part of the projext!

Kiss that 3rd gear goodbye! here 29 inch tire. 3.88 RP. 1st gear 3.780. 2nd 2.250. 3rd 1.480. 7,000 rpm shit point, 1st 41mph 2nd 69 mph 3rd 105 mph 4th LOL 9.98 sec 1/4 mile 137 mph. I was kicked off the track.
😀Yeah, I don't expect 3rd to last very long lol. Some turbo guys out there are using it (not many), but I'm not going to bet on it lasting. Thank you for posting your ratios and speed, that's very helpful info - and fast! I have a 3.88 & 29s currently as well. What are you using for a clutch?...I'm leaning towards a black magic with my stage 2. Nobody around here races this stuff, so it's hard to gauge anything.
@@culturedredneckgarage3784 I started out with a Gene berg gland nut torqued to 450 lbs. with 8 3/32" hardened dowels. Tore all of them out in half a season driving. Then went to an Wedgemated RLR rev 6 by Ron Lummus Racing . It softens the shock to the trans as well as light clutch pedal pressure ( using hydraulic slave ). But boy oh boy it holds. Building new bigger engine now. Flange 84 mm. But with a flange RLR rev 6. Great help and info from Ron over 5 years. Even for me being a Canadian . LOL

What's up? Awesome content but question? If we install the nose cone plate to control bearing movement, there will be increased distance for the hockey stick for shifting. Will this be a factor when the hockey stick makes contact with the shift levers? Thank You
There are are intelligent builders out there that are of divided mind on whether or not it has any affect whatsoever. Technically, the right way would be to have it shaved down (I think 1mm?) or whatever the plate thickness is at a machine shop....I started to do this, and my local shop wanted like $600!?! I wasn't about to do that, so I did some research and gave it some thought. In MY situation, it didn't seem to matter that much, as I have a lot of room to adjust shifting mechanisms and am not using the brake light switch....in other words, I could make it work and shift just fine. One builder said that many have done it with no issue, and others claim that it can have an effect on if your reverse switch will engage properly. If I ever put one in a sedan, I'll probably take a sheet of glass, tape down sandpaper to the glass, and work the nosecone over it for half and hour or so till I remove enough aluminum to match the thickness...just to avoid any potential shifting issues. Hope that helps.

Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it! I want to say that I bought that plate from Weddle Industries the same time I bought the chromoly pinion nut. the part# is 9371 from weddle....but you can buy them from lots of other VW vendors as well.
