I guess the reason this seems a little forced is because if you make a video like this about, say, Mesopotamia, or Persia, Mediterranean, Mesoamerican, Chinese, etc., empires, you get a lot of archaeological evidence. Intricate gold items. Advanced weaponry. Hoards from tombs. Remains of vast cities and fortresses. Battlefields littered with bones and artifacts. Shipwrecks. Statues and mosaics of people and places. Not to mention the written histories we have that these people wrote themselves. All of that backs up the claims of greatness. This video presents none of that. It has mostly modern artistic interpretations of wealth and kings but little else. We know what Caesar looked like because there are statues and mosaics of him. Does any of that exist for Africa south of Egypt?
History is never the 'truth', it's out later interpretation of what happened based on the collective evidence of what we have available to us. I'd love to see this video redone with evidence so that I can have an easier time believing this is a reasonable representation of what actually happened. I'm sure these empires were real things but the claims of scale and breadth carry no weight without evidence.
