With significantly lower price, Zenfone 6 is certainly a better choice than One plus 7 pro. If Asus could take advantage of this mammoth battery then it would become a great device.

Indeed, I don't really get the point in comparing 2 phones when one costs £150 or almost 1/3 as much again as the other, especially when the OnePlus 7 exists so there's a direct comparison that can easily be made at the exact same price point I assume that OnePlus have played a game by only sending out Pro versions to reviewers so that it's just too easy for comparisons like this to be made.
I am buying the regular op7 over zenfone. Yes zenfone has a better battery life and headphone jack, but I am currently using an Oneplus 2 (use it over 3,5 years now) . And this Oneplus 2 still is fast and after replacing the battery it's still a good battery. Sustainability is more important for me, and I know that after 3 years OP7 is still very fast

When the 1440p OLED drains that battery (which it does if you watch battery drain tests on TH-cam) don’t whine on OnePlus’ cancerous community app. OnePlus is dying. They’re being replaced with cheaper better options.
ZenFone 6 has the better audio with DTS:X Ultra. That's 7.1 and it's a difference maker when you have a headset on. Not kidding. Also DTS Headphone:X virtual 7.1 surround.

Yep. ASUS showing common sense. Most reviewers skip over the shortcomings of curved edges. Why this is ignored on such an expensive device I just don't get it. I guess the same way that everyone accepted a block of dead pixels in the name of "notch". Support companies that don't do stupid design. That's how we win.
It comes down to one simple point. Is flat better? The obvious answer is yes, it is. Curved is dumb and I wouldn't expect anyone who purchased a curved edge device to agree. Look at this video and the game demo. How goofy are those "touchable" icons that are along the curved bottom edge. It's not just visuals that are worse.

I would go with the Zenfone 6 even if the price would be the same but when you also put value into the consideration, then at least in my opinion clearly Zenfone 6 wins 😎
Important note: when comparing the screen quality, make sure to not create an angle with the camera. The footage shows a big advantage for the OnePlus, whereas this would be much smaller when filmed from the center (instead of left angle). And to be honest, colors on the Asus looked richer to me.
That's simply unable to be true, maybe you don't understand display tech? Photo buffs prefer IPS because they can ONLY cover a certain range but they reproduce it accurately, but all OLEDs reproduce a much larger range of colors to the point it seems supersaturated. Also, black levels and 90hz. The display was no contest.

You have to comment that rounded edges DETRACT from the quality of the OnePlus. If it's not flat, it's reflecting. And if it's reflecting, it's compromise. There is a big "but" involved.
Why didn't you mention the prices of the phones? TradingShenzen has both of these phones: - OnePlus 7 Pro 6 GB RAM / 128 GB: 607€ - Asus Zenfone 6 6 GB RAM / 128 GB: 557€ If you want, you can get the Zenfone in 6/64 GB combination as well for 497€.
My verdict, if you love a great screen then go for Oneplus7 pro, but if you value headphone jack, MicroSD-card slot and longer battery life go for Zenfone 6. Performance wise there will not be much of a difference since both phones use Snapdragon 855. If you are a diehard nitpicky gamer go for ASUS ROG Phone 2 (Snapdragon 855+, 120hz amoled, 6000mh battery, dtx front firing stereo speackers). The most important thing here is how much money you are willing to spend? Zenfone 6 cheapest, Oneplus 7 Pro more expensive and Rog Phone 2 even more expensive. But none of theese is still as expensive as iPhone XS.

Newer memory type hardly ever has any meaning (installing apps, operating on large number of files at once, what else?) and in real life scenarios both will just have perfect performance. When it comes to software I find OxygenOS overrated. Also, this new ZenUI takes similar approach to OOS - close to stock android with additional features.

Even being a lcd, the display on asus 6z is amazing. Very good colors. Easy on the eyes and very bright too. I never had a problem in outside sun. I bought asus 6z a week back. And it is an amazing phone for half the price of oneplus 7 pro.

I am having zenfone 6, it is such a cool smart phone. I am using this mobile from approx 10 months. This is very good mobile and the camera is amazing specially in selfies.
I feel like you should have compared the zenfone 6 to the regular oneplus 7. They are priced about the same for the same ram and storage configuration ($550).

I will take the 3.5 headphone jack over IP rating, OP7 does not supply USB C headphone dongle. Fingerprint scanner, win to the OP and the display screen wins hands down with HDR10. If Asus releases the 8/256 model in USA it's my choice but I don't believe we will see that variant. Speaker win imho to the OP7, much poor earphone speaker in Zenfone. Win to the OP for software. Win to Zenfone for one handed mode and also being lighter and a tad smaller. Haptic feedback win to OP and probably future updates as well. Storage win to OP for UFS 3.0 , a big bonus for large PC file transfer. Seems battery is similar but WARP wins. Camera , hmmm, pick your poison give edge to OP. However at end of day if I can save $125-150 on the Zenfone 6 in 8/256 variant I would pick it but no exact release date for US:(. Absolutely agreed. He even said oneplus 7 pro is better than zenfone 6 in terms of sound quality, which is impossible. Also for battery life part, I just can not believe that oneplus 7 pro could come close to zenfone 6. Oneplus 7 pro has really amazing display, but that's it. Other than that, it can't compete with Zenfone 6.

You're the only one who said Nightscape on Oxygen OS is good. Everyone else has said it's trash. Mark from Mark's Tech did a camera test and it was horrendous in low light.
Honestly I purchased ZF 5Z last year over 6T. No regrets. I'll upgrade it to 6 maybe this year. 7 Pro is great and all. But Zenfone is what's best for me. I like the low brightness of the display. It's perfect at 450 lux.

Correction: Oneplus lied about the zoom, it's not really 3x, it's more like 2.6x, they're using sensor crop to get to 3x.

For a guy with really squishy palms, a flat screen is the best as my hand would go into the screen like some water balloon if it's curved

Important note: when comparing the screen quality, make sure to not create an angle with the camera. The footage shows a big advantage for the OnePlus, whereas this would be much smaller when filmed from the center (instead of left angle). And to be honest, colors on the Asus looked richer to me.
That's simply unable to be true, maybe you don't understand display tech? Photo buffs prefer IPS because they can ONLY cover a certain range but they reproduce it accurately, but all OLEDs reproduce a much larger range of colors to the point it seems supersaturated. Also, black levels and 90hz. The display was no contest.

But I forgot that the camera probably is unable to pick up the true depth the OLED panel offers, and same story for my iPad pro that has an lcd panel as well and thus cannot show the difference. Have you been able to test max brightness on both?
@@alexsurber9404 In fairness this wasn't a fair comparison due to the fact the pro phone has the 90hz display, demanding a $200-300 premium over the non pro version of it. This youtuber is comparing a $499 phone versus a $710 phone at the least maybe more.

The only and biggest downside to the zenfone 6 is the fact that it has no water resistance, not even splash resistance... that can be bad.

Well I only wanted the Zenfone 6 for it's external memory card. Having one has been really helpful over the past couple of months

My verdict, if you love a great screen then go for Oneplus7 pro, but if you value headphone jack, MicroSD-card slot and longer battery life go for Zenfone 6. Performance wise there will not be much of a difference since both phones use Snapdragon 855. If you are a diehard nitpicky gamer go for ASUS ROG Phone 2 (Snapdragon 855+, 120hz amoled, 6000mh battery, dtx front firing stereo speackers).
The most important thing here is how much money you are willing to spend? Zenfone 6 cheapest, Oneplus 7 Pro more expensive and Rog Phone 2 even more expensive. But none of theese is still as expensive as iPhone XS.
Bought one plus 7 pro and absolutely loving it.

Newer memory type hardly ever has any meaning (installing apps, operating on large number of files at once, what else?) and in real life scenarios both will just have perfect performance. When it comes to software I find OxygenOS overrated. Also, this new ZenUI takes similar approach to OOS - close to stock android with additional features.

Even being a lcd, the display on asus 6z is amazing. Very good colors. Easy on the eyes and very bright too. I never had a problem in outside sun. I bought asus 6z a week back. And it is an amazing phone for half the price of oneplus 7 pro.

High quality ips panels can always compete with amoled.
Of course amoled is better, but high quality ips displays are not trash.

I have many phones, I saw many quality amoled and ips panels. And I want to tell that ips panels are more comfortable to my eyes. Amoled panels, they sure are vivid and have great blacks. But other than that, ips is better and has less burden for human eyes.

Thank you for the great comparison! It's a bit of a head scratcher that you were getting about the same battery life on the two phones since the Zen has a 5000ma battery and the OnePlus has a bigger display at 90hz with just a 400ma battery.

I will take the 3.5 headphone jack over IP rating, OP7 does not supply USB C headphone dongle. Fingerprint scanner, win to the OP and the display screen wins hands down with HDR10. If Asus releases the 8/256 model in USA it's my choice but I don't believe we will see that variant. Speaker win imho to the OP7, much poor earphone speaker in Zenfone. Win to the OP for software. Win to Zenfone for one handed mode and also being lighter and a tad smaller. Haptic feedback win to OP and probably future updates as well. Storage win to OP for UFS 3.0 , a big bonus for large PC file transfer. Seems battery is similar but WARP wins. Camera , hmmm, pick your poison give edge to OP. However at end of day if I can save $125-150 on the Zenfone 6 in 8/256 variant I would pick it but no exact release date for US:(. You're the only one who said Nightscape on Oxygen OS is good. Everyone else has said it's trash. Mark from Mark's Tech did a camera test and it was horrendous in low light.
Honestly I purchased ZF 5Z last year over 6T. No regrets. I'll upgrade it to 6 maybe this year. 7 Pro is great and all. But Zenfone is what's best for me. I like the low brightness of the display. It's perfect at 450 lux.

ZenFone is probably the overall winner considering the price. But as someone who never uses the front facing camera, the better design, 90fps screen with it being 2K Amoled is very tempting.

Is the 5hr20min screen on time since full charge and the phone still at 59% correct. Or the time doesn't refresh if you didn't charge to 100%? That would be 9 to 10 hours of screen on time in your usage scenario. Incredible.
