Considering that the Asus phone has a LCD display and a sd855 and bigger screen I m actually not disappointed in the end results.
I am, Apple's utilization of IPS pushed it to insane limits and ASUS can't even do it that well with the same screen tech.

So no still not asus fault + they got a new firmware update that seemed to increase users sot by 7-12 minutes

That's true, got s7 just 1,5year lcd get broken. Now I'm happy with my mi6 (already change battery) + power bank. Just imagine u spend a lot money for flagship phone just for 1,5 years? That's insane flagship phone more than that. Even my mi6 almost 3 years old outperform sd710 and maybe sd730 in term of gaming.

I get on average with my Mi 9 I get 9-11hrs of on screen time and combined before I charge it 17-20hrs.
The Mi 9 does very well on battery management.
For a long time use and flexibility features of the flip camera.. I choose the Zenfone 6. The innovation of the flip camera is really usable for vloggers and travelers, the audio recording quality is great..
Not to mention for people like me, I barely take selfies so I'm not worried about the motorized camera

Nice test. I'm so impressed with OP7 Pro's battery, even though it just lasted around 6hrs screen time, it's still acceptable as it's runs 90hz refresh rate display the whole time being tested. Imagine if it was switched to 60, it could've matched the Zenfone's.
I am actually impressed with Oneplus 7 pro's 6.67" + 90Hz refresh rate battery drain.

Pixel 3a xl won because of sd 670 its very efficient (consumes less power) and stock Android is also light
Where as Zenfone has tons of unique ui features (close to stock) more powerful sd 855 and it has ips lcd display which consumes more power than amoled display on pixel 3a

I think the takeaway is that fully stressing that SD855 will drain battery life no matter what capacity you have. Unless the phone is specifically optimized like the Mi 9, of course.
The pixel 3a has the very midrange low powered processor while all other phones are powered by thr sd 855.

One important point about the 1+ 7 pro is that - AFAIK - they're working on some sort of variable refresh rate so that when the screen isn't busy, the refresh rate will slow down - which in turn will also save battery in the long run.
When this update comes out I do not know. but it's definitely something worth thinking about.
Yeah that's how freesync works. The refresh rate range is 35 Hz to 75Hz on some monitors.
This is why I love Pixel phones the optimized software and no bloat ware really is the reason the battery use is next level. That and it's battery machine learning. My girlfriend still uses a Pixel 1 and loves the battery life. And I'm on my Pixel 2 XL and the battery life is just next level from p1 switched from 2 months ago.

It seems Google knows what to do with optimization, after all, Android is their system :) But considering Pixel 3a XL is a mid range phone and almost as expensive as the others in here, Asus is the way to go if you are after battery life. Wow location on as well? This was a good test. I have gotten over 7 hours SOT in regular usage daily with the 7 Pro. I'm very surprised by the battery life with auto resolution switch on and 90hz always on.

This just shows that having the ultimate chip-set in a smartphone is overkill for any kind of usage nowadays! Only if you're into mobile gaming or heavy workload like video editing, does it actually matter to have a top tear chip-set. For the rest, any 600 or 700 SD series or equivalent is more than enough.

Yup even more SD 855 is powerful chip compare to other chip sd 670.. SD 670 is less power what I mean setup of the core SD 670 only 2core performance clock speed 2.0ghz and SD 855 1prime core 2.84ghz and 3core 2.42ghz you will see the clock speed and core is not same so yeah that why pixel because of this + oled + small screen + os optimiz.... Bla bla wkwkw 😂 I think this is not fair for battery test because one chip use lesssss powerrrrr hahaha 😂
Great result for OnePlus 7 PRO. Biggest display area of all phones in this comparison, 90Hz, excellent quality display and still managed to fare only 10% worse than Asus ZenFone 6 with 5000mah and Pixel 3a XL with its tiny display. :)

Man, this review did for me. Was deciding between the great hardware of the Zenfone 6 and the great software of the pixel 3a. I’m going with the 3a considering I don’t game with my phone.
Im getting about 5-6 hours on screen time in my standard pixel 3a. I dont mind the small decrease in performance for this amazing battery optimization

On my 1+5T the last 1% gets me through 10/11 hours during night. Everyday I wake up and see the red led notification I'm impressed... I bought it at day 1 in November of 2017 and put it through a lot of usage. (4k video editing, intense settings for gaming and so on)
I'm really proud of how it works, definitely 1 of the best smartphone investment I've ever made. I probably change it when 1+9/X gonna come out.

Ordering a Pixel 3a XL today to replace my Huawei Mate 20 Pro. Im in the US so the lack of warranty and possibly future updates, I am bailing now. If I was in europe id probably hang onto it. I cant believe how long the battery on the cheaper Pixel lasted. Its the most important aspect for me when it comes to buying a phone.

The Zenphone 6's display looks so bad compared to the other Amoled screens. It becomes really noticable when he is running assasins creed. The zenphones screen has a strong blue tint and colors are way off and much less crisp :( love the ZP6 but just cant buy it because of that mediocre screen

This video has been highly anticipated! Best purchase value in 2019! The Pixel3aXL was unbelievable (overall less power consumption vs the most efficient chipset) Zenphone 6 is worth the hype (surprisingly well optimism) OnePlus 7 is King vs 7pro (better battery, flat screen, smaller footprint, real world usage advantages) all screen and 90hz is amazing but at what cost...more money & less screen-on time.

I would love to see you do a battery test between the Lenovo P2 and the Zenfone 6. I'm considering switching to the Zenfone 6 because it's really similar to my current LP2 but with better features (camera, processor...) - albeit its slightly smaller battery size (5000 vs 5100 mAh)
Lenovo P2 owner here. GSMArena states the P2 is much better on battery performance. It's Super Amoled screen also helps, against the Zenfone IPS.
But yes... The Zenfone is top gear!

The Zenfone 6 screen got a large black bar at the botton! That really helps battery last longer, even though it got a big screen, just a part of it is really showing images.
Wrong actually, black is one of the few colors that stresses an IPS as far as power usage is concerned.
I very strongly believe you should have either put all the phones on 90hz or none of them. Considering that *only* the OP7Pro can do it doesn't mean it should when you are doing a *battery test*

I have the OnePlus 7Pro and the screen...this 90Hz screen is incredible.. it makes all the other phones I use feel (not slow) just not as polished. Totally worth the upgrade. I had the S10 before. And this vibration motor is incredible.
3:13 Why does the Zenfone 6, Pixel, Mi9 screens shrink so much with black borders in Assassin's Creed compared to the OP phones? That would skew the results.
It's their software. It doesn't skew anything.

@@Y4vuz12 it's all about optimization and SoC. zenphone was destroyed compared to the pixel battery differences, regardless of screen size, as they're pushing near the same amount of pixels on the displays. OnePlus is noted for it's "optimizations" and "near stock, clean" Oxygen OS..

What about Galaxy A Series. They have huge batteries and A70 is competing against Pixel 3a and also has the same processor so it should have been in this test. Great video as usual though.
You should develop an app or script that runs on the phones automatically to test battery life and other metrics such as speed, temperate etc. That will make the test more accurate. You can call it MrWhoseTheBoss anyway and host it on App Store and PlayStore for people to test their phones and have a MrWhoseTheBoss Leaderboard on the tests that you usually make for us your TH-cam fans.
Point to note is that the app can be controlled either remotely or by Bluetooth using another device. So when you prepare these tests you start the app to run automatically on the devices under testing using another device via Bluetooth.
