    You have done more realistic things in that one experience than we have done in med school, like removing a cath! Glad you had a fun (long) experience!

    I was working as a PCT also but had to quit because of the workload of nursing school. It’s great experience. Enjoy and good luck ❤️❤️

    Good luck with your new job! It’ll be great exposure to see what the floors are like as a float as you’ll be able to learn from the RNs

    How long was the PCT training and what was the schedule like? Monday through Friday? 7 to 3? Some schools say the courses are 3 to 4 months.

    • @AlyssaYaramus
      @AlyssaYaramus  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      To get my certification it was every Saturday and Sunday for almost two months & it was around 7-4 or 5 I believe. For work my orientation was only two 12 hour shifts a week to be a PCA & my tech training will be two days long!

      @@AlyssaYaramus only 2 months? That's interesting. In NJ PCT programs are usually anywhere from 4 to 12 months depending on the school. I have no idea why. Thank you!

      @@Scalone326 I was shocked it was so short too! I know of a bunch of programs in Michigan that are just as long so I was even confused when i heard mine was only two months!

      @@AlyssaYaramus im going to get into the medical field but unsure of which route to take. Either CNA or PCT to start off then work my way up to either LPN or RN to bachelor's. It's quicker to get in as a CNA but I also want to be paid well and be able to do more clinical things so I'm undecided right now. Thank you for your video!

      @@Scalone326 personally I prefer being a PCT just because I do more in the hospital but it could be totally different in your state or hospital! Good luck with whatever you choose!! You’ll be amazing at whatever you end up doing!!

    Is Pct the same as CNA?

    • @AlyssaYaramus
      @AlyssaYaramus  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Basically! They do a little bit more than CNA’s but similar roles

      It's like a blend of CNA + Medical Assistant.

    Girl. For med admin.... you’re probably doing way too much! I’m in my last semester of nursing school... know the basics.. like BP meds you need to check pulse and BP before... maybe there’s a few you can’t crush... heparin needs to be given in the abdomen, etc..

    • @Kenzieeeec
      @Kenzieeeec 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry, i know you aren’t asking for advice but i literally used to stress stuff like that so much. I would’ve spent hours tanning out and memorizing a drug book had someone not told me that it’s not necessary! Obviously do what you need to!! Good luck!

    • @AlyssaYaramus
      @AlyssaYaramus  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m always looking for advice!! Thank you! & we had to tab off our books lol we have a list of drugs and we’ll get a MAR with medications from that list so we had to tab them to be prepared!

    Almost 20 minutes in and still waiting for "first day of PCT" too many commercials. Should be titled nursing school to save people the click and having to watch 6 commercials in the first 15 minutes.

      Sorry I just click the monetize button and it chooses how many commercials there are and what they are
