These are the same products that I have sourced for my multi-million dollar client projects as well as some fixtures and accessories that I have used in my own home. I wish I had known about you when I was redesigning my bathrooms. But I did do a lot of things you talk about like drawing out the rooms to scale and measuring everything to ensure things fit. I did not want to use polished chrome at first but I did for the hall bath. What a practical choice that was! For lighting I always add a pullout lighted makeup mirror bc my lighting is above the vanity mirrors. I never want to do make up under those vanity lights and tweezing eyebrows requires magnification. I went cheaper on a mirrored medicine cabinet in the hall bathroom and it feels cheap every time I open the door. The restoration hardware mirrored medicine cabinets in the master bath are solid and every time I touch them I can feel that weight. Very well made. I think the wood mirror is a nice touch for an organic look. I have a wood mirrored medicine cabinet and I love the feel of it and all I have to do is use lemon oil to refresh it. The towel rack can be a problem if you do not have the length for it. This is why you have to measure and plan bf you renovate. I have a double tp holder with a shelf too. I got it very inexpensive on a one stock website. It’s great! Why are towel rings so big? They never fit my bathroom so I used extra long cabinet pulls for hostess towels near the sink. They fit a small area and I can hang smaller hand towels on them. I also use hooks for robes or to hang a towel close by after a shower. But I never leave bath towels to dry on a hook bc they just get stinky. Well done today. 🥰🥰👏🏻
Mildew collects on those damp towels when hung from hooks. Experience has made me a legitimate teacher today Margaret 😂

Yes. The ones that came with the house are corroded chrome but my other fixtures are brushed brass. If I have to replace them, I do want it to match.

Love your content. I do like putting a small tray out for a party with oblong napkin-type decorative towels to dry hands. I like knowing my hands are clean and towels are fresh!
I ALWAYS leave heavy-duty paper towels/dinner napkins out for guests in the bathroom. That’s how they know to use it vs. the wet towel on the ring 😂🙌🏻

Since I have to hire a plumber to install a faucet or sink that cost more than the faucet, I would rather buy the high quality name brand faucet for the bathroom that has a high quality durable finish that I can easily clean. $150 vs $50. The $100 difference is peanuts long term.

Question: How about a standing toilet paperholder that is heavy and large enough to stay put? Brushed nickel is a must. Easy on/off, contemporary w/ small shelf (about 6"). Under $50.

superb video ! - - I bought a Lulani faucet for our front bathroom (mostly functions as a powder room since we don't use tub in there) . I special ordered it through home depot during some of the "lockdown" years - It is in a higher price range but is truly lovely , looks and feels substantial - husband had no trouble installing - has been in the bathroom for a couple years , has been a dream to keep clean and spot free (chose a high arc style w/ a single side lever , came w/ pop up drain) - we aren't plagued w/ the horrible calcium and lime deposits that many areas have so a faucet generally stays in place for decades unless a person decides on a change ( or if a previous unprofessional professional installer cross threads a faucet into place shortening the life of faucet - happened in our kitchen ) - highly recommend Lulani if shopping for a faucet

This was awesome..... what about towel colors??? I know that sounds dumb but my hubs HATES white towels for no particular reason and i never know what color i should get. Right now we just have a mosh of towels we both owned before we were married..... and it's UGLY!
Cream, natural, def neutral if you’re not going white. I’m not a fan of colored towels- not trying to bring more attention to a utility item you know what I mean?! 😉

Depending on the weight of the mirror, there are different options for mounting. You can use mirror mastic which is like a glue that bonds the mirror to the glass or double stick mounting Velcro or tape- check the weight since they make different types of tape for dif weights. Hope this helps!

There are now Towel bars and TP holders that have grab bars built in, which we are going for in our new build (I think)... I was questioning that another designer on YT said to use towel hooks instead of rods, b/c she said that towels would dry better on a hook. I did not agree with that statement. Are they less costly? Sure. Thank you for this segment.
Robe hooks are great for dry towels/ robes, but try hanging a wet towel on one. It may still be damp tomorrow, but the ones on the towel bar (splayed out) dry the quickest. I did the work, I know the results 😉

I noticed you didn’t mention lighted mirrors. I am redoing my bathroom and recently purchased one for my 48 inch vanity. It’s dimmable and has a switch for de-fogging so tell me what you think would love your opinion.

My guests are well trained. Shoes off at the front door, ring towels are for the sink. I know the procedure when I regularly visit their homes as well. 😂

I get the rule same function, same finish. I'm remodeling the bathroom and I want to use antique brass fixtures, but not overwhelm the bathroom with brass. If I am using a white, gray, and medium brown color palette, can I bring in matte black or something else for a light fixture and cabinet handles? I prefer non-matchy matchy in general, but I'm having a hard time working this out in my head. It doesn't seem like it's done a lot and when I do see it done, it's not very extensive.

Not a fan of mirror with lights around it because I find that you miss out on the opportunity to place something even more fabulous for lighting. Love medicine cabinets, so functional when toiletries typically need cooler temperatures than just sitting on the counter.

@JulieKhuu how do you install a round mirror over a builder-grade plate mirror? And do you keep the acrylic clips on the plate mirror?
I never keep the acrylic plates on, definitely remove that once the mirror is reinforced on the wall since the plastic looks cheap/ builder-grade. The round mirror can be double-stick mounted right over the large mirror if it’s light enough.

I just had my bathroom updated and still can’t decide on a hand towel holder or a place for the soap! I bought a very small (16”) vanity so there’s no sides on it basically so I’m thinking a small shelf directly above. All my fixtures are gold which I love with large marble look ceramic tiles around the new soaker tub, love it!

I would go for something mounted over the sink. I have a similar condition- only 3” behind the vessel sink. I had to source tall soaps and keep my towels in the cabinet below

@@JulieKhuu 🥹 I have no idea. The wall color is so calming. I have the moen builder grade brown fixtures now that don’t look bad which is why I haven’t changed them yet but I want something different. I’ll keep watching your videos and hopefully it will come to me!
The moda black pendant light looks great but it is hung so low! Is there an optical illusion with the photo? It looks like the light is exactly at face height.
It’s hung above head height, we measured the owner. Plus he can never “hit” it, the countertop is in the way 👍🏻

I was so happy to see you have a vessel sink in your guest bath. I really love the look and want to install one in my own guest bath. But I've watched a couple other designers poo poo vessel sinks because they are supposed to be more difficult to clean. I just don't know about that, and I'm not sure I care, haha. I do have a question about mixing metals. I'm not sure how to mix metals without my bathroom looking like a hodge podge of design eras or trends that I just never changed, YKWIM? Besides years and years of experience being a top designer, how can I achieve such a sleek and cohesive look?
I think you should mix metals in your bathroom. But use the idea Julie suggested in this post. All plumbing the same. And cabinet pulls can be something else to complement the cabinetry. In my master I went with brushed gold for plumbing and bronze for cabinetry. I did not go with gold for the double bypass glass shower door. That’s also bronze. It all goes great bc I used black grout on my subway tiles and having black plumbing would be too much. It’s a balance. I got my ideas from show rooms and looking on the internet. I almost went with a vessel. I love the look and I wouldn’t mind cleaning up around it. I do that with all my sinks anyway. But I didn’t get one bc it didn’t fit my design.
The vessel sink is actually in my primary bathroom. I only had 24” of space to work with and I liked the look. Sure, it’s a bit difficult to clean behind the sink, but I have an ample 4” of space. Nothing my trusty magic eraser can’t get behind 🧼🙌🏻

I love it. I’ve used it. Inexpensive + easy to clean. BUT hotspots can actually yellow over time so you want to make sure there’s no harsh sunlight penetrating the space.

@julieKhuu Hello from Irvine! I love all your videos. This one was particularly great, as I'm in the process of renovating one of our bathrooms. Question for you--do you think the towel bars, toilet paper holder, and hooks should match the fixtures (shower and faucets)? Thank you!
In this video Julie says the plumbing fixtures should match. But the other things don’t have to match the plumbing fixtures. But they should match each other. Ie towel racks and cabinet pulls should match. I would match the tp holder to the cabinetry bc it’s not plumbing. I mixed metals. Plumbing brushed gold everything else dark bronze. Look at magazines or Google to see how they look mixed. I went bronze bc it enhanced the dark grout. But I did not want dark plumbing in the shower with dark grout bc it creates too many lines. They don’t have to- the faucets can be one finish, the accessories another finish. I love to mix it up!
Any recommendations for a towel bar for a glass shower? I was looking for self-adhesive towel bars but not sure of the durability on them. Any suggestions would be great!
If you purchase any adhesive bar, don’t use the adhesive it comes with. Instead, check your local hardware store for heavy duty 3M double stick adhesive according to the weight. I’d go for 50lbs even though the towel bar is light, you need something sturdy for everyday handling.
