    Julie's, your videos are valuable because they are thorough! My favorite was when you recommended applying a dark wall color or using a bigger patterned wallpaper in the bathroom so the small space appears larger, I'm going to do this. When I was thinking about applying black to the walls of my bathroom a couple years ago, many folks said it would make it appear smaller because I don't have a window. But now that there's someone who has the knowledge recommending this for windowless small bathrooms, I'm relieved and feel more confident going forward. Additionally, I enjoy all the high-quality photos and it's evident how much time is spent finding picture examples that accurately reflect your interior/exterior designing knowledge & opinions. That being said, it took a lot of verbal signals before I realized you were placing the exhibits side-by-side to juxtapose what to avoid and what to do instead, but I still have trouble identifying which photo exhibit is meant to be avoided even though having this visual indicator is very important. As such, do you mind adding an additional visual indicator next to the exhibits to help the slowpokes like me mentally register what you're pointing out, using a ✅❌Checkmark or X-mark? Thank You!

    Great video confirming some well-known aspects (floating cabinets, frameless shower cabins, etc) but I find the glossy black paint and the wallpaper advice very interesting. Thanks for sharing these tips! Many viewers here might not understand how precious your channel is: these tips are not taught in design schools, and we pay tens of thousands of $ for a course.

    Ms. Julie Khuu, thank you sincerely for sharing your wisdom, tips, structural/technical building insights with us.
    I plan to build out my own 40 ft. tiny home, however I want it to visually feel sleek, functional, and be smart every single square inch!
    This video along with a few others I watched either confirmed I was on the money with some ideas and or provided me insight to be mindful of to elevate a part of the design to **TRULY** maximize both visual impact and function! Flow and function lead the way for me, however visual tranquility is a quick skip behind... So again, I thank you for sharing your knowledge and style. I also thoroughly appreciate the obvious time and effort put into each video, job well done all around and I want you to move close to town so we can go out for post-COVID cocktails and analyze design everywhere we go! ✌🏽😁🤭✊🏽😎💜💜💜

      Thanks Julie, great content. It really helps me with my tiny powder room. In my master bathroom I have a 20 year old jacuzzi tub. Hard to get in and out of and would like to replace it.
      I've looked into a walk-in tub, which I'm not sure if I like. A smaller alcove tub or just having a shower like in your pictures, which I prefer. But that would leave my house without a tub. Can you advise which is better for resale.

    Love your cool, but down to earth and no-nonsense style! The photos of the navy blue wallpapered bathrooms are inspiring me to wallpaper the tiny foyer in our antique family homestead that dates to the early 1800s. I guess it's more of a vestibule, but the formal Cape Cod captain's stairs with balusters and mahogany railings go straight up, and the parlor is to the left and the dining room is to the right. Thinking the navy wallpaper with a bold but interesting (and quirky) design would look fabulous there!

    Hi Julie,
    So glad you did this one. I'm in the process the re-do my guest and main bathrooms. Regarding the guest bathroom, always had been a question about the guest towels. Please note, I'm about the details and how to combine function with looks...must look good to be appreciated
    Do you use the paper guest towels or the "real" ones?
    - Paper ones, the rectangular ones that you may put in a container. I personally not sold on those ones. They look like a public bathroom to me, but then again... I'm not a designer.
    -"Real" towels -Where do you put them? Personally I never been a fan of the wall hoops or the small towels hangers and somehow I feel a towel bar is to big for a guest towels. On top, when some one use them never look the same and most of the time the location are a little below eye level ( BTW. Where is that location rule?..LOL). I don't plan to go the guest bathroom every time someone use it to fix the towel and paying someone to fix it...it will not going to happen, this is not the Ritz 😂.
    If you think about an idea, please let me know. I will continue researching and continue seeing your videos for inspiration.
    Thanks again and keep inspiring us !!! 🙌

      Hi Maria! I do both. You can see in the guest bathroom makeover where I placed the towel bar- it’s beneath the only window I have in the space. It’s approximately 32” AFF. I keep 1-2 full sized towels on this bar. I also have a small basket I keep on the counter that I fill with paper dinner napkins (heavy duty/2 ply) when I’m entertaining a group. I launder the towels after everyone leaves. Especially with Covid, I want to give guests the option of single-use paper towels 👍🏻☺️

    Julie as always, small spaces, especially bathrooms are a challenge. I will watch this video again because you shared so many good ideas and tips. I know you have a lot of subscribers now so if you have time to respond, go have a question. I’m starting to see many folks give up their tubs in small bathrooms for walk in showers. It makes the bathroom look larger with the frameless shower doors. I have 4 bathrooms in my house (a master bathroom with garden tub and separate shower, a powder bath -no tub or shower, and 2 small upstairs bathrooms with single vanity, toilet and bathtub. I’ve been thinking about remodeling one of the upstairs bathrooms and getting rid of the tub for a walk-in shower and wondered if I would be lessening the resale value Of my home. Are people expecting bathtubs in small bathrooms anymore? I know a tub is nice when you have small children. Mine are grown so I know they would appreciate the shower. Thoughts?

    • @JulieKhuu
      @JulieKhuu  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, you need a minimum of 1 tub for resale value. The rest can be walk-in showers if you like Teri 👍🏻

    I had a DIY bathroom makeover and I’m super happy to see the majority of these concepts incorporated into my bathroom!
    I struggle with owning a small bathroom in an old condo building. There are limitations in what I’m able to do with my space, as well as things like a pre-existing bathtub that is nearly impossible, and costly, to remove due to the lack of reinforced flooring on the second floor of the building, and old pipes that need attention so, therefore, can’t really accommodate increased water usage and drainage. I decided to glaze my tub, instead of replacing it or installing a shower, and it has made a major difference in how bright, how clean, and how fresh my bathroom looks.
    I wonder whether you can make a special video that addresses the limitations one might have in a DIY or in a renovation, such as having to live on the second floor in an older building that has features that are difficult to remove, a lack of reinforcement on the ceilings, floors and walls, and the inability to support or use more modern features due to the condition of the building.

    So many great ideas in this video, thank you. We will be remodeling a very small bath (only one in the condo). I rarely see designs with our layout: Sink and toilet to the left of the door, tub to the right. About 5'x8'. We want to replace the tub with a shower, and somehow fit in a cabinet for storage. Maybe make the shower smaller than the tub?

    • @gwenwade6059
      @gwenwade6059 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Keep your tub. Buy a shower for over the bath. Install a roof mounted shower curtain rail. Fenales need baths. Males tend to prefer showers. Keep it light, bright, white. Or sell and move. After installing shower. Baskets can go back to individual closets. Tidy. Sorted.

    • @JulieKhuu
      @JulieKhuu  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for watching PS! You can integrate the shower while keeping the tub if this is the only tub in your home. You need it for resale value. If not, reducing the footprint for a full height linen closet is a great idea for additional storage 👍🏻
