This version is an example of a band in complete control of their craft … and the devotees who follow them. You know how to give us exactly what we want, dM.
Depeche Mode live is an experience. I've seen them twice (so far) and they know how to put on a show. I'm seriously jealous of my friends who got to be at the Rose Bowl show featured in the 101 concert video. That show looked beyond epic.
Before Personal Jesus. Before that epic album that put them on the map. th-cam.com/video/Tj4FA7BGGkQ/w-d-xo.html I truly beleive 101 made what we know as DM today, possible. It's been reported that 90 thousand people packed that stadium, that night. Later, you could see it on shows like Letterman. People freaking LOVE Depeche Mode. Dave's ability to row up a crowd is legend. Very Freddy-esq...
101 live was my introduction to Depeche Mode. Not the concert sadly, the cassette. They touched my soul so deeply. I never had heard anything like them. I got hooked, and saw them in concert once. 101 concert though would have been amazing.
Depeche Mode is a musical orgasm. They first put me under their spell when my older sister put on the 7" of New Life circa 1982.. I think I was 13 at the time. Other bands came and went (from the same era.) Depeche Mode remained the constant. Some say "They sound so 80s." That's misguided. The 80s sound like Depeche Mode. They helped invent, and later revolutionized that sound you hear when you think of the 80s. The thing that ultimately cemented their place in the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame was their ability to emulate one of their greatest and most influential role models. David Bowie. Dave, Martin and yes, even Andy.. have reinvented themselves through new romantic, to new wave, to industrial/rock right on to -country- (of all things,) then they explored the blues and even jazz. Then, after the entire industry had moved on from analog, Martin insisted they produce an entire albumn using ONLY analog. 🤣 I realize I am rambling on here. But this is what Depeche Mode means to me. I remember back in the day when some would tell me, "That's not even music." We were of course non confrontational and would just smile. We knew. I won't lie. Many of us have felt vindicated watching reaction videos like yours. So, thank you.
Saw this show live at Madison Square Garden. One of their finest songs - and the massive videography in the background was stunning. (The arrangement of the contortionist ladies is reminiscent of DM's triangles logo)...
Hello Dereck, Thank you for this good time 😊 Among Depeche Mode fans, we all agree that the live version of "never let me down again" from "one night in Paris" is one of the band's greatest live moments. I highly recommend it to you 😉😍
This live performance is great but I can't seem to forget the 1993 Devotional Tour extra-guitar solo they specially made for Enjoy The Silence there. I wish it was on a remix somewhere, they have made so many remixes for Enjoy The Silence, this extra guitar solo deserved to be there somewhere. I wish it was here too. If you haven't heard it yet, you definitely should.
You mean this one: th-cam.com/video/ism6-zoLDtc/w-d-xo.html or the studio version: th-cam.com/video/JkB640Ze_bY/w-d-xo.html I agree, this was the best ETS solo guitar ever...
@@dana.1546 I'm not sure that it was officially released - I bought all remix albums, compilations etc. over the years trying to find this version and never found it until someone posted it on YT. There is also the instrumental version (th-cam.com/video/MxL6pEMAlKE/w-d-xo.html) which was the backing tape for the live shows I believe. Whether the one in the link is an original or not I'm not sure.
Berlin is their favorite stop to play live. Missed my senior HS prom to go see them in 86’ in NYC (followed by seeing GBH @ the Ritz) best night ever!! Truly one of the best live bands, and I try never to miss a show….Dave’s twirls are iconic!!😍🖤
There my all time FAVORITE band & this song is my all time favorite. I want this song played at my funeral when I die. They are amazing live like a spiritual experience for me. My mom played them all the time when i was in her stomach as a baby. Im 39 now still my fav band. DM FOR LIFE 🤘🤘🤘🤘🎙🎙🎙
One of the best live performances that includes Behind the Wheel live in the rose bowl from 101, Never Let me Down Again from the Tour of the Universe Barcelona, But Not Tonight from the same concert sung by Martin which makes this song more beautiful, Personal Jesus also from the same concert as this song which actually follows this song, Just Can't Get Enough from the Global Sprit Tour, In Your Room from the Tour of the Universe Barcelona where they mixed both versions (the album version and Zephyr Mix) and Everything Counts and Stripped from the Spirit tour
Got to see them live during their last 2 tours, once in Frankfurt and once in Cologne. Awesome shows each time! Their music is amazing live (stood front of stage for pure bliss):-)
So just imagine seeing this live! I don't think I had truely experienced music until I went to a Depeche Mode concert. The venue was sold out, the whole crowd was singing and dancing. It was a different level of musical experience.
Peter Gordeno does the synthesizer solo. The solo is played on a Moog Voyager. Peter has been a session touring keyboardist with Depeche Mode since 1998. The drum breakdown is done by Christian Eigner. Christian has been Depeche Mode's live drummer since 1997. Christian also advises Depeche Mode on drum sounds when Depeche Mode is in the studio. Christian and Peter are not official band members and are only live touring musicians.
Love your reactions, The best! Check out “world in my eyes” from the devotional tour, my favourite song from their best period for playing live👍 top bananas 🍌
Gonna watch them at the Accor Arena in Paris tonight on this 5th March 2024 boys ! FINALLY my fucking god, can't wait to just experience Enjoy The Silence 😍😍
Dave Gahan has never been better in my opinion during this particular gig. I've seen them several times, but I dunno, there's something really magical going on here. And also, the best live version of one of my favourite tracks of all time. It's jaw droppingly good.
amazing seems Dave nearly lost his voice complettly after his Near Death experience back than.....??? But im happy he was able to recover & to come back.....??? Now 2024 his Voice is certainly better than in this Berlin performance...???? What a Band to grow up with right from there teenie Pop Beginnings of 1981......?????
Please react to Robbie Williams live at knebworth! One of the greatest entertainer of this century. Some of his biggest hits are “Angels”, “Feel”, “Let me entertain you” and Rock DJ. He played 3 nights in front of 125’000 people each night!
Hello Dereck, thank you for this video , Please watch their live show of the song "Never let me down again " from 2001 one night in Paris tour , you will go crazy !!
I've already sent you a few DM live links in patreon :) I got the chance to see them live in 2009 in Werchter festival, they were amazing! I hope they will be back soon! They usually tour in America Derek - the last time I saw them live, it was in Montreal in 2017 - so maybe you'll have the chance to see them performing :)
Omg, this was everything!! I always recommend this one, so super excited you're doing this!!🤩 I pray they come back to town soon, would make my life/summer complete!♥️✌
Their concerts have always a religious vibe to it in the way they are in communion with the audience, especially on titles such as enjoy the silence or personal Jesus, among others
Hi Dereck! I'm a big fan of DM they are so creative, powerfull and hot 😏! I saw their live shows three times. I'd like you reacts to Simple Minds too, they are my other favourite band, his live sound is amazing. Glittering Prize, Waterfront, Alive & Kicking, Speed your love, LoveSong, Belfast Child, Let it all come down, Hipnotized, She's a river, Moscow Underground, Blinfolded, The Signal and The noise, ...only a few songs for you to choose into a hundred of great themes. Best band I have ever seen live by far. 40+ shows
Disney sucks! Bunch of progressive tards . I hope that castle catches on fire at the meeting of all the Disney higher up assholes
Damn 101, I was little kid then.
Seen them live over 20 times since 1986 and loved every single gig. They’re explosive live.
Ugh...so jealous!
How lucky !!!
Honestly, this stage is epic. Not an exaggeration to say I enjoy this live stage from them. I glad that you liked it too 😄

Magic, eternal, this voice, this music, pure heaven...
I’m 51 and Depeche Mode fan since I’m 14 ! Discovered them with Shake the Disease. Such a huge band !
Me since 10 n im 47 now

Me too! Seen them a few times at MSG, including this song with the incredible contortionist ladies. Absolutely amazing show!
I was there that night and it was magical.
PURE MAGIC...!!! The Band of my Life.
Some bands can do it, some bands can't. Play live, that is. DM certainly can! In spades! Dave Gahan became one hell of a showman as he matured.
They are amazing live!! Every tour I go see them as many times as possible!!
The best live of Enjoy the Silence. I saw them several times in Paris. Bercy, Stade de France and Eurockéennes de Belfort. 😍
Naaaaaaaaah, come on, we all know Devotional version of ETS was the best one :)

Among Depeche Mode fans, we all agree that the live version of "never let me down again" from "one night in Paris" is one of the band's greatest live moments. I highly recommend it to you 😉😍
After thinking about it, the best version of NLMDA is the one of Tour of the Universe, Barcelona 2009 😍
it's really fun to see people hearing the music we've been listening to for over 40 years for the first time. Thanks for the video 🙂

Hllywd Bowl was definitely a moment, it made their career!! 🖤
But not Tonight sung by Martin? Really? Can't imagine it without Dave's voice
@@Lmbkrks Yes he did sing it as one of the two performances that Martin does and it was also acoustic

I knew you'd enjoy this i never get fed up with this
You should watch “One Night in Paris “ I think it’s one of their best live shows, I wasn’t there, but it was the Exciter tour and I saw in LA.
They were an incredible live band, Depeche Mode. Despite all the tech (synths, samplers, etc.), they were able to do all that faithfully live on stage
Love your reactions, The best!
Check out “world in my eyes” from the devotional tour, my favourite song from their best period for playing live👍 top bananas 🍌
You can’t ever go wrong with live Depeche Mode. It’s why I’ve seen them 15 times. Another banger is Behind the Wheel live.
Now you need to listen to the 2004 remix of Enjoy the Silence to fully enjoy this song.
J'adore la voix de Dave 🥰😍
Idem puissante particulière voix sublime
And his insane energy he brings. Brilliant!
I have never not seen a DM show not packed and I’ve been a fan since 83.
Best experiences of my life have been DM concerts. No other band has sold out four nights at the Hollywood Bowl. They're incredible.
