DECHROMING my Mini Cooper S!

- Last week I told you I was thinking about modifying my Mini and I asked you what I should do first. Lots of you said dechrome, and that sounded like a fairly cheap and easy place to start so without further ado, here's me dechroming my car.

If I may ask though why did you get cheap cover ups? Cause they're cheap? Why not go with using your original parts and either stripping the chrome off and painting them or sending them out to be done? Would it not look better especially having the original parts and them not being covers but the actual thing? I tried covers like that with some interior stuff in my charger when I had it and they fell off after a couple weeks to a month :/. Just thought I'd ask.
I didn't think that I would like the dechrome, but it looks quite ace.
Obviously works on some cars. I think it works on a mini, but on my camaro, I don’t think so.
And on the next episode of "Unpimp my ride" James May will tear out this kit while yelling "STANDARD!" 😁
YESSSS another Lucy video. Mini's aren't even my thing (more the 90's japanese peformance cars) but this is already coming along nicely.

The "Black" Mini is cooler than with chrome. Small things make a big difference.
The black finishes look so much better.
I prefer the gloss black but it looks great without all the chrome!

I'm in the process of dechroming my 2012 MCS, so far I've installed the blackout tail lights and gas cap
White and black go together well. Looks great .
Nice to see some realism for car modification rather than the glossy Men and Motors car rebuild in 45 minutes. James steals the show in his bright Yellow puffer jacket ☀️

A Mini in that color drove past me yesterday on one of our back roads. So pleased that I remembered to look in the three-or-so seconds I had to observe it. Chromed. I definitely like your dechromed version better.

Good Job, when you wrote “de-chrome’ I seriously thought you were going to remove the chrome plating in some way!!!! But the only downside I see is that the extra thickness of the plastic covers may look strange in some places. Are they very thick?
Not that thick, only about 1mm I reckon, they clip on in a way that they don’t really stick out.

@@timetotalkwatches7185 didn't really got dirty at all. There's nothing complicated in putting trims on.
i had this kit but here in the netherlands just like england it's 8 months of bad weather after 4 months the adhesive tape came of i lost the front strip while driving and 1 emblem cover...:(

Those stick on are bound to come off over time. Painting would be better IMO but I do like the de-chrome.

With your car being pepper the black accents compliment it in a monochrome way, but I would’ve left it chromed, it makes the colours ‘pop’ IMO

I expected you would take off every piece of chrome and give it a plastidip. Not sure if I like this way, just see how long it stays on.

Good job. I honestly don't understand why any car has chrome after about 1960.
What about the 70s? You missed a whole decade. After the seventies though, I’m not sure about chrome, but I do like myself some chrome.

I’m not sure, I got everything at cost from the supplier for about £230, so I’m guessing a little bit more than that.
Was that sped up 600 times or 600%? Surely 600 times means that took you 10 minutes per second of footage which seems ludicrous to say the least
