Consistent chamfers around the perimeter of a rectangular part

  • It's been a month since I published my last video (Belt grinder part 8) on TH-cam. My wife and just returned home from a month-long 3800-mile road trip through the eastern US to Canada and back down to Florida with several long stops to visit family and friends.
Since it's been so long, I thought I'd publish this "quickkie" video before getting back to finishing up with my belt grinder project.
Chamfers make things look pretty while avoiding sharp edges, so I tend to use chamfers "everywhere". But chamfers can look horrible if they have inconsistent "depth" around a part. They need to be consistent and have their corner bevels line up nicely.
This video shows you how I use my DRO to ensure consistent chamfer depths around a perimeter. It's a simple procedure that you probably know already, but it took ME a while to figure out for myself how to "turn a corner" with a chamfer, so perhaps it'll help someone else new to machining.

Thanks for the thanks. :-) I wish I'd been properly recording the DRO for the entire process, as intended, but hopefully it was still understandable.
