I'm usually #TeamFrankie on these, but DEFINITELY #TeamBird here. It's a great knife. Probably gonna make my top ten budget of 2018.

@@BirdShotIV Personality and cheap CR813MOV Steel at those prices, Kershaw budget knives tend to use twinkie steel. I'll take 440C over 8CR13MOV any day of the week. Not to mention the God awful speed assist on the Kershaws mostly with a few notable exceptions.
Personality doesn't make a good tool.
I don't dislike Kershaw by the way, but most of their budget options are just... Meh.
Cheapest knife they make I like is the Blur, which even that I feel is a bit overpriced for what it is.
Its a nice knife imo the qsp is way better than a lot of kershaws. FRANKIE'S been drinking hateraid lol.

Bird had no idea this knife would be Quite So Polarizing.
The Parrot and the Tangram Santa Fe have been my shop knives since they came out the Santa Fe holds a better working edge I’ve noticed but at there price point I love both of them cause I use and abuse them never clean them and they have cut just about everything you can think of when it comes to knife mods and a little knife making from sand paper to deburring g10 and scraping glue residue off of steel I will say i prefer the Santa Fe as far as aesthetics. I picked up a D2 version for $25 off amazon. It was the knife that finally kicked the SW Intrigue out of my pocket and I haven't looked back. Pimped it out with a civivi deep carry clip and some benchmade thumbstuds, filed down some rough edges, and to me it's damn near perfect.
A rare time I agree with bird over Frankie, the "Quality Service Products" parrot is better than the honey badger or budget kershaw, a third less the cost with better materials and equal or superior design and fit and finish. I've had four budget kershaws recently and each one fell apart after a few weeks of flipping them (not from cutting), including the atmos and fraxion.
That sucks about the Kershaws :(

Realistically, the ganzo, for the price is the only one better than the parrot.
I came back to this, I almost bought it we you posted this. I bumped back into it today on Amazon, I ordered the blue one.

full flat spear point to me may not be flashy, but it sure as hell is a versatile blade, it does what you need and nothing more, and its the plain simplicity that makes it great

I got a QSP Parrot a couple months back. Great blade to take to work (I work in logistics, quite a Dusty environment). The bronze washers work great, it's not a scary looking knife and the 440C seems to hold up pretty okay.
Yes, it's a boring knife, but you get a really snappy detente, G10 scales en bronze washers on this. Bought it for 20 euro's, haven't looked back. Bought a QSP Fenix a bit later, liked that one as well.

I think it’s because she has such small hands it’s not comfortable for her and yeah the blade shape isn’t the coolest but it does the job. Everyone is different. I think it’s amazing value for the money and a great addition to my rotation! Good vid!

Love the blade shape and I love big thick handles. I hate skinny handles in my big hands.
The QSP knife closely resembles a couple of my fixed blade kephart knives.

A couple of years late to the party, I know, but I ordered the parrot a few days ago. I don't get the hate here. I bought it specifically for the way it looks. Most of the knives I own have a more aggressive looking profile, and while I'm allowed to carry any folder with a blade under 4" at work, I've definitely gotten some strange looks from customers and co workers both. The clean, simple, yet elegant lines on this knife coupled with the non threatening baby blue scales on the one I picked should help cut down on the "Oh my God, he's got a knife!!!" factor.
I like the simplicity of the QSP, I have a black one, it’s not that bad.

440c kephart style flatgrind = great cutting user knife
Visually it reminds me of those colorful Ozark trail knives that you can get in like a 6 pack haven't owned those or the Parrot but that's what it reminds me of
I like the qsp parrot,
I have a few 440C knives including the Ganzo on the table. I have issues getting an edge I like on them. When i get done to the fine grit and the ceramic i have no end of trouble trying to get the burr to come off. I end up spending 30 minutes on the ceramic and strop to get a clean edge. I do not have this issue with nCr13MoV or D2.
Interesting. It's been over two years since I've sharpened the Ganzo 440c
Once you get them there they seem to maintain very well with the strop.
A good budget knife is the CRKT caligo for $32. It has style, durability, and it flips so smooth on ikbs. Yall should check that one out.
That's quite a jump and uses junk 8CR13MOV Steel. Can't say I agree there, 440C > 8CR13MOV on any day.
At the $30 range a rat in D2 is a vastly superior option.

Well that's the first time I've heard the rat2 with D2 steel called the "R2D2". Now I gotta get one to add to my Rat collection lol. That was my breaking point on getting a rat 2...thanks..

Ok, I’m not ordering a parrot, but I did order the Ganzo Firebird.....mostly because of its axis lock
I personally like it a fair bit. Sometimes "Simple" (not boring) is good. I'd take it as a good glovebox knife.
Also I think that the QSP Phoenix looks amazing.

I don't have a problem with the QSP.. though it does look a tad boring. BTW - Until watching this video i had totally forgotten I had the same color Shuffle II as you guys so I had to dig it out. If nothing else, thanks for reminding me of my forgotten long ago purchase!

@@a.c.7781 I hadn't really used it enough through the year for long term thoughts on its performance. I fell down the rabbit hole and moved on to other knives lol I did use it on a camping trip and it was good The steel does not really hold an edge long but thats to be expected i suppose and its easily sharpened.
@@domeromer thank you for taking your time to respond seriously. Yeah I have the same problem I just keep going to one knife after another. I was looking to get it as a gift and I trust the people in the comment section typically more than the actual reviewers

I have handled the Parrot, and I must admit..for 21 bucks, it is a great knife. I don't own one, but my friend does, and he loves it, I handled it, and I liked it, but I have enough budget knives right now..so doubtful I will buy it.
I agree with Frankie and it looks like a $12 knife from Ganzo and I wouldn't be surprised if Sanrenmu make it for them.

Sorry Frankie, you are just wrong, it's a solid knife which flicks open well and closes so smoothly, no lock stick I think you are just trying to corner the market in them so you can hoard them for the future and sell for a premium. It is definitely a Sanrenmu. And blows away your other choices.
