    I would love to see your more obscure Victorian lit collection! I am curious!

    • @BlatantlyBookish
      @BlatantlyBookish  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'll try to film this one then! Not sure if it'll be obscure or just Victorian authors that are new to me. There's a decent amount of overlap between those two, but I've never read Gissing and I wouldn't call him obscure.

    I love that it will be a Trollope filled Victober!! I would love a video on your lesser known Victober books.

    • @BlatantlyBookish
      @BlatantlyBookish  ปีที่แล้ว

      Indeed it will be! There are just so many Trollope books I want to read. And I think I will make that video, but you are definitely already familiar with all of the books. Plus, some of them really aren't that obscure.... maybe it should be Victorian authors on my shelves that I'd like to try (or something along those lines).

    I'll be reading Jill and David Copperfield too! How great to hear Jill will cover all the prompts for new readers of Dillwyn as I am.

    • @BlatantlyBookish

      How wonderful!! I can't wait to hear what you think of them! 💕

    Yes, I would love to see a video of the obscure works! I'll also be reading the group read and David Copperfield, and The Odd Women. If I finish the Trollope early, I'll squeeze in a short Wilkie Collins.

    • @BlatantlyBookish

      What a wonderful selection! I loved The Odd Women when I read it a while back. Happy Victober! 💕

    Ooh, I think we'll have at least one overlap--although I am still solidifying my list. Anne Lister is a fascinating book. I can't wait to see Emma Donohue's book about her! (And yes to video about lesser-known Victorian authors!)

    • @BlatantlyBookish
      @BlatantlyBookish  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ooh! I can't wait to see your TBR Hannah! I'd love to buddy read the overlapping book, but I'm far too unreliable to commit to these kinds of things lately. I hope I can read as much as I'd like for Victober. And yes! I can't wait for Emma Donoghue's newest book! I feel like I might want to read it and Anne Lister's diaries and finally watch the second season of Gentleman Jack all around the same time.

    • @HannahsBooks
      @HannahsBooks ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BlatantlyBookish Oh yes--I too am awfully unreliable about that kind of thing right now, but maybe when all is calm for both of us, we can find something to read together. I'd love that.

    I just finished The Last Chronicle of Barset and loved it so so much. Very happy you are reading it now! I agree that seeing your obscure Vicotian literature would be wonderful!

    • @BlatantlyBookish
      @BlatantlyBookish  ปีที่แล้ว

      That's wonderful to hear! I'm enjoying it immensely so far, but reading is unfortunately very slow going for me lately. I had hoped to finish it already. I should have a video with lesser known authors posted today. I wonder if they are truly lesser known since they were apparently all so famous in their day. I'll let you decide.

  • @janicemacdougall1844
    @janicemacdougall1844 ปีที่แล้ว

    I too would love to see your collection of obscure Victorian literature. 😊📚. My Victorian TBR is so large!!! But I have narrowed it down to 4-5 books. It’s so hard when you want to read all the books!😊

    • @BlatantlyBookish
      @BlatantlyBookish  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I swear it gets harder and harder to narrow this TBR down each year. I have so many other things I was considering that I didn't even stick in this video, and I might change my mind when Victober comes around.

    I read Wonderful Adventures of Mrs. Seacole in Many Lands last year - it's really worth a read!
    I would love to see a video of lesser known Victorian books, definitely. I have a TBR video out soon - I hope!

    I would love to hear about more obscure Victorian literature. The only book you have on your TBR that I have read is David Copperfield which I loved. I'm a big Charles Dickens fan. As I've never read any of Anthony Trollope's work I'm looking forward to this years read along.

    • @BlatantlyBookish
      @BlatantlyBookish  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm so excited for you to experience Anthony Trollope's work for the first time with us! He's fantastic. And it is high time I got around to David Copperfield. I've heard such wonderful things, and I've liked every Dickens I've read so far.

    I’m going to be rereading David Copperfield, listening to the audiobook by Richard Armitage!

    We have Jill and Romance of a Shop in common which is fun. Romance is quite short so I hope you get to fit it in. I should be reading The Small House at Allington but it didn't fit the prompts and we have a fat Trollope already. So perhaps I will make it a December treat as I do want to keep up with completing the series.

    • @BlatantlyBookish
      @BlatantlyBookish  ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh how wonderful! I can't wait to chat about Victorian literature all month long with you! I know what you mean about having too many fat Trollope books to get to lol. I was going to make Jill more of a priority than Romance of a Shop, but perhaps I'll switch that around. I can't wait to watch your TBR later! I'd do it now, but I'm trapped in a nap with no headphones.

    We are the alabaster come to Life;
    the wanderers above a sea of fog.
    Thy happy ever after was soon thine,
    but if you wanted that you need a job.
    As forklifts sweep away the jaguar’s prints,
    thy face conceals the same displace’ed pur.
    Those forest treestumps art our precipice;
    Erato’s portrait peering down unnerved.
    The angels’d rather see us pick rosebuds
    in togas of pink, in togas of blue,
    in freedom where we can be what we want
    beneath the cancer sun and leo moon.
    How could they even tax our humanhood?
    and even worse, how could we just comply?

    I think Ann Lister is Regency. Or I heard so. I'm already three hundred pages into The Way We Live Now. It is a good book. I can't believe I have more to go than I have read.

    • @BlatantlyBookish
      @BlatantlyBookish  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, so Anne Lister's first volume of her diaries is Regency and the second volume spans into the Victorian Era. I'm glad you're enjoying The Way We Live Now

    I’d love to see a video highlighting some lesser known Victorian literature. Your current TBR is quite ambitious. Mine is a bit more traditional with North and South, The Tenant of Wildfell Hall and the Canterbury Ghost.🍂

    • @BlatantlyBookish
      @BlatantlyBookish  ปีที่แล้ว

      It's definitely too ambitious with everything going on in my life lately, but we'll see what I can get to. I hope you enjoy North and South and The Tenant of Wildfell Hall. They're two of my favorites! And I think I will make that video.... it might end up being something like Victorian Authors on my Shelves that I've Never Read or something like that though.
