I love both North and South and The Tenant of Wildfell Hall. For a while, the latter was my favorite Bronte. I need to read it again to decide if that still holds true. ETA I love that you have a handwritten list. I have similarly scribbled lists and notes - it feels very old school but that's how I think best!

This is my second read of The Way We Live Now. It’s so great, and modern in the sense that it shines a light on those who want to be appear different than who they truly are: social climbers, fakes, phonies, mean girls. North and South….one of my favorites of all time.📚🤗💖
Your plan for a tour video about Victorian authors sounds great. You are so right that there are people out there for whom it is their first Victober or are starting out with Victorian literature. I hope you have a glorious Victober. I am willing to bet you will love North and South. I am a huge George Eliot fan. Watch out for her humour. She sees the ridiculous in human beings but stays humane and generous. I noticed what you said about Dickens and Jewish characters in his books. The way Eliot wrote Jewish characters really changed across her writing career. She was a woman who listened and learned.

It's so hard with old favourites to judge if they still would be. I film on my phone so I generally handwrite all my notes for videos
