@@southlondonrepair do you have to replace the Liquid Metal or can you use a syringe and collect some and keep trying to get rid of the oxidation and then re spread it with the Liquid Metal
If the Ps5 more than 1 year old, I always replace it, but I keep the 'leftover' in strings. Some newer Ps5 model don't have that much liquid metal on the APU. Unfortunately we opened a 4 months old, because they broke the HDMI port. It had already dry spot on APU. We cleaned and we put it tiny bit extra on, so it could work longer and not burn.
Also if you didn't have empty syringe, you can push temporally in empty clean container the new liquid metal . It's much easier to remove the old liquide metal with syringe, you could avoid the drop it on the mainboard.
