I can't understand this! I watched Safari Live with Tristan Dicks doing bush walks and Hosana never chased or even bothered with Tristan on foot. I remember one time Tristan walked by and Hosana was laying off the road in grass. When Tristan went by Hosana came up to the road and just watched bush walk team go by. Heart is sad at this news and I hope there is more to come why Hosana was a threat to poaching team.
Have you seen Hosana’s Facebook? No update since March. Maybe they got money from a rich dentist to kill him. There is no report, no filming, no injured person nothing nada.
My understanding is that he was surprised by an anti-poaching patrol and he reacted aggressively and charged them. They shot him in self defense. So I have heard.

Not from the same litter, but they all shared the same mother - Karula. His baby sister Shongile mysteriously disappeared while Hosana was still very young, if I remember correctly, in 2017/18.

He beat all the odds and became a dominant male and before his prime starts he was murdered by humans. What is conservation is about? When the rangers keep shooting them like they mean nothing?
Major bummer, our boy was such a delight, such a character. I remember being on the Live drive when Karula's den was found with the newborn Hosana and Xongile... and the epic years of his antics growing up. Terrible loss. Thanks for the beautiful photos, he sure was a star!

The first time I saw Hosana he was just around 3 months old, watched him grow, leave, come back and hang around the live cam, then leave again. So many Great times watching him in between. Hosana was the first leopard I saw when I started watching WE. He was about 6 months old. Watching him play with Robbie the rover. His meat pillow and all of the goofy stuff he did Hosana was taken from us much to early. RIP you beautiful creature.
So, who do you expect to stop animals from being killed by poachers during dusk? Anti-poaching units need to be operating 24/7 in case there are poachers in the area, and the activities of poachers could easily occur during dusk.

Hello. Was there ever a confirmed death of Tingana? I know he just disappeared towards the end of last year (I think his last sighting was around August) and no one saw him and we all assumed he had passed.
Its irony that someone who should protect the wild animals was the one who killed one of them. I've been following updates of him on facebook since 2016. So sad.

Very sad news. Poor Hosana was still relatively young. There are many dangers in the bush, and no creature is immune. Hosana was a beatiful cat, and if there is a silver lining, maybe such incidents can be avoided in the future. The anti-poaching unit, of all people, should be extra careful not to harm the animals...
There are many dangers in the bush, and it would be understandable if his death was attributed to another predator, but not by a human that was supposed to be there to protect them.

The anti-poaching units are doing a very dangerous job, at night, on foot. They don't have the luxuries and choices of safari guides, the ability to be sure they can't ever surprise an animal who they don't know is there. They are taking these risks to protect wildlife, the last thing they would ever want to do is kill an animal. If they are at risk they must protect themselves first, however.

They do fight with each other over territory, but that wouldn't be likely to lead to his death, just as it didn't lead to Hukumuri's. But the chance of him being startled by anti-poaching units at night, on foot, if they had no way to know he was there, isn't so low. If he felt threatened, he would respond. And if the humans were actually at risk, they had to respond too.

So sad to hear. 😢 Hosana was always my favorite when I was watching the drives. I haven't been watching much since James left and all the changes took place. We need to remember these are wild animals with wild instincts, not pets. I've always been surprised that there haven't been more instances like this happening with humans in such close contact.

He was the reason for many ppl to watch djuma dam cam regularly, I used to stay up late in nights just to watch him on dam cam .

Such a funny adorable clown we watched him lose his mom then his sister and he never gave up he was going to make it beautiful funny boy that we just couldn't get enough always hoping he would come back I don't want to believe it don't ever standing.. love watching him bugging his dad any chance he got.. you could just see tigana going not again he's not supposed to be here but never went after him

First Thandi, and now Hosana! What a ridiculous tragedy, especially bearing in mind that both of them grew up accustomed to people (safari guides, tourists, anti-poaching units...) Two of my favourite leopards from the royal lineage of Karula/Duma. They will be missed immensely.💔💔

Hello. Was there ever a confirmed death of Tingana? I know he just disappeared towards the end of last year (I think his last sighting was around August) and no one saw him and we all assumed he had passed.

hosana has been followed by guides on foot . There is a video of that with Tristan . I guess this time he wasn't in the mood and charged .but would they do that .has Hosana lost fear of human because of the constant human interaction ?sinse he was a cub .he was still young .he was playful .smart .brave

I'm gutted for Hossana such a beautiful playful little cub and mischievous young teenager who developed into a beautiful Prince among leopards and gave us such delight with his exploits he will be forever missed but never forgotten. R. I. P. Beautiful boy.
Very sad news. Poor Hosana was still relatively young. There are many dangers in the bush, and no creature is immune. Hosana was a beatiful cat, and if there is a silver lining, maybe such incidents can be avoided in the future. The anti-poaching unit, of all people, should be extra careful not to harm the animals...
There are many dangers in the bush, and it would be understandable if his death was attributed to another predator, but not by a human that was supposed to be there to protect them.
@@vespermartini2556 true, but we don't know the circumstances yet, not that I'm defending the guy who shot Hosana. They have a dangerous job and may be 'trigger-happy', which again, is no defence.
The anti-poaching units are doing a very dangerous job, at night, on foot. They don't have the luxuries and choices of safari guides, the ability to be sure they can't ever surprise an animal who they don't know is there. They are taking these risks to protect wildlife, the last thing they would ever want to do is kill an animal. If they are at risk they must protect themselves first, however.
@@vespermartini2556 Hosana was in his prime of life, and leopards are not prey to any other animals. They do fight with each other over territory, but that wouldn't be likely to lead to his death, just as it didn't lead to Hukumuri's. But the chance of him being startled by anti-poaching units at night, on foot, if they had no way to know he was there, isn't so low. If he felt threatened, he would respond. And if the humans were actually at risk, they had to respond too.
@@joyhecht They are given high powered rifles, but not a Rover so they don't have to travel on foot? That's like sticking your hand inside a caged tiger in the zoo, it's not going to be a good outcome, for the tiger or the imbecile that put his hand in the cage.

So sad to hear. 😢 Hosana was always my favorite when I was watching the drives. I haven't been watching much since James left and all the changes took place.
We need to remember these are wild animals with wild instincts, not pets. I've always been surprised that there haven't been more instances like this happening with humans in such close contact.
Watched you growing up always loved you missed you when you left can't stop the tears we have lost too many of our beautiful cats in such a short time it is hard especially when humans play a role in their fate 💔 rest in peace little Prince 💔
