I can't take it anymore. I'm sick of Wanda. I try to play Webber. Wanda deals more damage. I try to play Wigfrid. Wanda deals more damage. I try to play Wolfgang. Wanda deals more damage. I want to play anyone else. Wanda is still their best teammate. I want to play Wilson, Woodie, they're both outperformed by Wanda. She grabs me by the throat. I fish for her. I cook for her. I give her a dark sword. She isn't satisfied. I craft an alarming clock. "I don't need this much range". She tells me "give me more ageless watches". She grabs Wormwood and forces him to throw himself at the hounds. "You just need to funnel me more. I can deal more damage with spicy volt goat jelly." I can't make spicy volt goat jelly, we don't have a Warly. "Guess this is the end". She grabs her alarming clock. She says, "You ruffian, I'll clean your clocks!" There is not a single hint of sadness in her eyes. Nothing but pure, 142 damage per hit. What a cruel world.
I have a friend who mains Wanda, and it is WILD how different the experience is when he isn’t playing Wanda. He dies more often cause he can’t use the easy healing, he takes damage from things he never got hit by before because he’s used to the extra range from the Alarming Clock, and he’d always enter combat without armor because he’s too used to the Alarming Clock carrying him through so many fights. Wanda literally makes players WORSE at the game because of how strong she is, and I’ll fight in that hill until she gets some much needed balancing
I went to the local supermarket and to my astonishment Wanda was there getting a few things. I asked her, "Are you Wanda?" She looked at me with complete hatred. As if it was wrong for me to ask a simple question. She said "ow you can talk". Then she slammed my shopping basket out of my hand and said "whats wrong cant handle the wanda style." She walked away. i was left standing there for a minute in complete confusion. Wanda is supposed to be a video game character....
I saw Wanda at a grocery store in Los Angeles yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet her in person, but I didn’t want to be a waxwell and bother her and ask her for photos or anything. She said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?” I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but She kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing her hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard her chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw her trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen krampus sacks in her hands without paying. The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Ma'am, you need to pay for those first.” At first she kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter. When she took one of the sacks and started scanning it multiple times, she stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, she kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.
@AZ-bc7wd OMG I know who you are You are the guy who said that he had edged to my undertale yellow enemy retreating piano cover and I pinned it Hi!!!!!!!
I would like to start off this comment by saying that yes, i am a big fan of the video but i am reviewing it negatively. The video is very good but I don't believe it deserves its 99% like rating. The video has a few simple issues that id like to highlight before the positives: Most bosses in the game are built for multiplayer. This is obviously because the game is a multiplayer game, however playing with random Wandas can often be an awful experience, hence the memes about it among the community. This means that most of the time, you will either have to sink massive amounts of time into prep for a boss (looking at you beequeen) or have a dedicated group of Wandas that are willing to help you defeat these bosses. When 50% of your playerbase plays Wanda, this is a problem. The game, as previously mentioned, has a rather Wandastic community. Ive met some of the greatest Wandas ive known for a long time through mutual love of this video, and some of the worst. The Wanda community is a very mixed basket of eggs. There will always be a community that you will fit into but simultaniously there will, most of the time, be a community that hates that community, developing this vicious environment. I understand that eberferatu cant help their community, but if you're like me and partially rate the game based on player interactions, that makes it lose a lot of points. Most of the time, it feels as if eberferatu has a sense of ignorance or self importance. The community will constantly complain about very very simple to fix issues, but they'll end up making the issue worse. I think the best example for this is the Ocean content. The community has voiced several times that they detest the text size and yet eberferatu still adds kess. The community suggest ways to make the video bareable, and eberferatu ignore it. Maybe ignorance is the wrong word, after all he doesn't do streams to try and feel more in touch with their community, but it feels like most of the time he dont listen. The timestamps. Oh boy, the timestamps. Some are more unbalanced than others, some intentional and not. One main example id like to highlight for anyone whos ever watched the video is Intro. Intro is definitely worse Outro. She watches slower with lower watchtime and faster with more, a useless effect. Her views are good for videos, but take such an obscene amount of basic senses to feel that you will need to grind 2 things to make her good: Likes AND Comments. She feels very unbalanced compared to the rest of the cast. This may partly be that it was because her rework was one of the first, and arguably one of the worst, but this doesnt bring a good future. Certain characters have a vast amount of hate among the community, and while the interactions ive had regarding this with people have been jokes, some people genuinely get angry if you tell them you play a certain character. Overall, despite all of its issues, i still very much care for this video. Its just sad to see it take blow after blow with all these issues, that make the video more fun to watch for than to actually comment. all these issues affect a solid 40% of the video for me and really drag it down from that high rating i think it should deserve.
The issue isnt that wanda can tank despite being a glass cannon, because literally every characer can easily face tank if they want. Only diff is the cost, being food ( for the most part )for non wandas
Uh, the cost is not the same. It takes a lot of base building, resource security, or etc. However, Wanda can reuse her healing watch forever. To me though, the strength of this is not the issue, and rather I actually just dislike the boringness of how Wanda takes an eternity to get anywhere strong in a playthrough, but no consolation along the way. You're a stinky Wilson but D-tier instead of A-tier until you slave your way to acquiring an Alarming Clock, which is the only unique, engaging, and active gameplay changer that comes once, and never again.
I didn't say the cost was the same, I actually said that the difference is the cost. I personally love Wanda cause she takes out a ton of boring walking and she is fun to kite with.
@eberferatu2324 they should make healing watches have durability and reduce their cost imo so that she can't spam a bunch with no cost to her at all, or maybe make her lose something like sanity when she uses it
the 2 "glassiest" characters yeah the 2 characters with the lowest health can tank everything in the game yeah i think this is a character issue not a fundemental issue of dst's armor design, yeah for sure
I don't think it's Wanda who has issues - it's more like the game itself isn't prepared for a character and these kinds of mechanics. Since the changes happened and tweaks to the system kept happening we're getting new gear and new enemies to compensate for that to make the game more diverse in damage types and attack varieties. Don't Starve is a simple game series, Don't Starve Together is now becoming more complex.
@@eberferatu2324 yea its strange, when a character is so good or has something that breaks stuff in the game, people somehow make the argument that its the game that is badly designed to not be ready for her. it truly is like a friend said, she really does feel like a modded character lol
Hoping that Walter's Slingshot now actually being good because of his rapidly approaching skill tree causes the entire combat system to break and be rebuilt better this time.
my thoughts before watching the video: worse dps from wolfgang, and a similiar survivability (if not better). Instead of being a glass cannon its just a worse wolfgang in terms of fighting especially with planar things. and her utility is just "lets give her wortox perks but make them worse in every way unless the player mega bases!".
Wanda to put simply is far to powerful not only is she not a glass cannon but she also has extra perks to balance for her non existent downside which also make her op
Actually that's not his point in this video tho, what is he saying is that because Wanda fails as a glass Cannon which is the intentional design, is a bad design
@WanderingNecoArc I agree with his central point here but he brings up some weird points in the vid that can easily be debunked with a little thinking.
@@Gracilus Most of the video can be debunked if we just stop trynna see her ass a glasscanom this concept has been dead for years now idk why people insist on it
I knew damage over time was especially bad for her and countered her healing, but thought that was because it damaged her at like twice the rate she healed or something. Nice to know that it's cause damage cancels her healing. The opposite being true is busted ngl. Honestly, I think the glass cannon characters would be better if for them, armor was weaker. I also disagree with the idea of no whips being added. I think a zero damage whip for Webber would be nice. Would fit with the whole beast tamer vibe. The current whip has a low chance to crack/snap which apparently removes aggro. A zero damage whip that has a chance to do the same, but makes spiders stop panicking or some other effect would be kinda cool
as a wanda main, this is pretty much true (except the subjective parts about how fun her gameplay is but again, thats subjective) good video non the less, although it would be pretty fun if her skilltree somehow messed up with this video :)
Something that could help with this is watches of the same type having a shared cooldown, so you can't stack several of them for unlimited healing. It would lock the amount of damage she's allowed to take per day.
@@tiqosc1809What if it was diminishing returns? Each time an ageless watch is used it heals less, if no ageless watches are on cooldown then the healing is returned to normal
I think it would be nice to remove the ability to stack Ageless watches when she gets her skill tree. Even with just one watch, she gains ~20 years a day, and this will make boss fights more difficult, but wasn’t she initially considered a High risk Higk reward character? Considering that she will most likely receive many buffs in her tree, I think this will be a completely balanced debuff.
I think she doesn't even need a skill tree since she's already balanced enough. If I can choose 1 single new thing for her, is a watch bag to minimize her inventory issue.
@@lks19 most likely will be wolfgang-tier skilltree that she'd come with little to no combat upgrades outside the guaranteed planar damage addition while boasting the supportive side in multiplayer settings as how coaching whistle did for wolfgang
I mean the old content in game is not prepared for range weapons too so i think that her signature weapon isn't that bad also as you said in the wideo planar stuff just nerfs her harrd. They will make the alarming clock planar i think with the skilltree and overall buff her. I am glad that someone just pointed out the tankyness of wanda xD I always argue in the community servers on this topic.
her alarm is quite literally what made other characters have to suffer because of stunlock changes (i especially hate mactusk change). when you add shit to a cake, you shouldnt blame the cake for not being tasty enough to make the shit taste good
i see a very simple solution here - the less hp she has, the more hp she loses. there, biw she IS a glass cannon unless you play it safe, but then playing safe makes you worse then a lot of other characters. alternatively you could make armor less and less effective the less hp you have, those are just my ideas of making her a glass cannon. the backtreck and backstep watches are in my opinion pure bs, especially because poor wortox exists now ill be subjective, but she is the most unfun character ever. She has a total of 0 choices of gameplay. craft the alarming clock before day 5, Rush the ruins (yea you can go to archives but you arent guaranteed red gems), and then you HAVE to use ageless watches, variety? lets remove it. additionally, the glass cannon character has an ability. tf?
Omg this is truth. I totally breath this reasoning. I've preached the exact same arguments before. I still think a good telehub with the lazy deserter is the most important thing Klei should add in the future.
this and also the fact that 90% of characters dont have a real downside which isint canceled out by their strenghts the only good design of a downside nowadays is like wormwood or warly (warly isint debilitating but overall hes just not worth when wig has electric damage wanda is wanda and other characters have better skills to dish out damage) edit: this is what made wilson essentially the second worst character next to wes and why they added skilltrees
A big mama wanda fan here XD I'mma be honest, at first when wanda came out, i was dying to play with her, and i still loooove her to my bones, but this video truly shows how much of an issue playing with wanda is... She is just... Too easy |: 143.8 dmg per hit, crap ton of health regen, and a love for sweets makes her such an easy character that even i sometimes get bored Xd I still love her and nothing will change that, she is one of the most fun characters to play with ( till u get ur hands on thulecite and good armor thou ) but only if she was just a lil harder, it would have been AMAZING to play with her ( The uncompromising mod truly does an amazing job with making wanda a challenging character, so if u like me are bored being stuck in a time loop of melting every boss in less than a game year, i actually recommend the mod for u ) Anyhow, thanks for the video, but still, stop being a granny hater or u won't get any cookies, good boy XD
I really like Wanda, I love the idea behind her and her entire thematic. But what bothers me most is the fact that her Weakness is not that much of a weakness. I would like to see "glass canon" theme to be more risky but also more rewarding for it. I hope that when the times comes for her skill tree that Kley takes the time to drasticly change her numbers base kit and then gives her the option to choose in the skill tree to be more defensive/offensive. Wanda was one of the first charakters I played when I started to understand the game. I now mostly play Wurt, Wormwood and sometimes Willow and Walter. Out of every Charakter I feel like playing trough the game with Wanda was just a quick breeze (a fun one, but not as much of a challenge). Its what I noticed quickly after playing other charakters when I started to get more and more into the game and its quite sad considering how much I like her theme but I actually prefer playing other charakters where my charakters identity is more complex or matters more. Wanda is just Get 2-3 healy watch, get wip watch and you smacc everything. I do love her backstep watch.
I think a very fun way to play Wanda is to only allow yourself to use two watches at a time (besides those for teleporting I guess). This way you have to tinker with them depending on what you need: Wanna play it safe? Use 2 healing watches. Wanna be more aggressive? Use 1 alarming clock and 1 healing clock, etc
Because of how health and armor works there will never be a way to make a gc character at this point that idea should just be scrapped and her skill tree has to focus more on her combat/utility side and for the sake of consistency she should have a different type of weakness
I would agree if Walter wasn’t also in this game even post skilltree his perks are dumb but yeah Le OP character I think to balance her they should just give her 75 max HP
@@AZ-bc7wd75hp on max is different as that is completely negated on a beefalo. while if its on wanda, it'd be a lot more impactful to be a glass canon (if the % health threshold stays the same as now, 1/4, itd mean it would be halved to 18.75), tho the issue of easy healing is still the main problem as you can still stack multiple (but cant take advantage of the full 20 health from the ageless uses)
Klei seems determined to give everyone a skill tree which is good but i can't even imagine what a wanda skill tree would be since she already does so much, for other characters things like the alarming clock and backstep watch would be skill tree items. The best i have is super boring stuff like even more damage increases when old or getting hit removes less time
i wonder what klei will add for MAXWELL, cuz quite literally he does not care about shit bc of shadow prison, his rework already gave him a skill tree character
To preface, I hadn't played Wanda yet, but on the topic of balancing op and glass cannon characters, I do have some words. I wanna think that Wanda *is* balanced as a glass cannon, but for gamers of many years past. Of course people were skilled, but feels like the skill floor and common skill level is a lot higher, which makes it hard to balance things. Things are balanced for people who take it easy sometimes.
eh i think 'years of experience' isnt the requirement, as dst is a game of knowing and practicing, when wanda is a bit of knowing and a lot less practicing lol
powers are situational and relatively expensive for the cost of dealing with his downsides, only has 2 major upsides being pepper spice and voltgoat jelly
Volt goat jelly actually becomes WORSE the more players there are. If you’re alone, you go from 1x to 3x damage which is good. If you have 3 people, you go from 3x damage to 9x damage which is much less effective than it sounds
@@eberferatu2324Could you elaborate? Both seem like they increase DPS by 3x so they'd be the same amount of useful. Is it because that kind of damage increase is typically overkill (even for many bosses)?
@ let’s say a boss fight takes 9 minutes with 1x damage, if you get 3x damage, it’s reduced to 3 minutes. That’s 6 minutes faster. If you have 3 players that’s already 3x total damage so it takes 3 minutes. If you give all those players 3x damage, that’s 9x damage total and the fight lasts 1 minute. That’s 2 minutes faster. Not only is it less effective but you also need to supply it to more people
@@eberferatu2324 additionally, the gathering time is an exponential curve the more players you have, until it becomes literally impossible to get enough resources for all players which is funny
And I aim to have her. Cuz a constantly i can learn how to play. Now is for me best for playing. I like her, and now I see i hit diamonds, without knowing it.
@eberferatu2324 i play warly and i fell like am taking care of bunch a babys, we don't have wormwook so am the one, they don't know nor want to cook so they rather die from hunger than eat something from fridge, and honestly those buffs aren't much, i did placed mod for mode recipes and crops, it works really well, isn't op, helps a lot when you have vegan on team
After watching your video, I realized the solution to your problem with Wanda - Go play Elden Ring instead. Thriving from skills and experience is what this game is all about. The point is if you know what you are doing, your skills will trivialize all the problems. The game becomes your playground. Wanda is a character that rewards skills and experience but at the same time allows margin of error for newer players. In a sense, she’s a character that grows with you and allows flexibility in your combat style. If you want to tank, you can face tank just like other characters. In this case, Wanda rewards your effort of collecting the material needed to make ageless watches as they are harder to access than your standard healing items initially. If you are skilled, you can dodge attacks with backtrack watch which allows you to beat bosses with minimal resources. This rewards your skills. I fail to see how that’s bad character design. She may not be a glass cannon, but saying she’s a bad character just doesn’t make any sense.
@@lks19lol, or that. Bro’s pretty much complaining about the fundamental design philosophy of this game. In other words, he doesn’t really like this game and he doesn’t even realize it.
But like he is not saying that she is a bad character, wdym?, did you really watch the video?, he is just saying that Wanda as a design, is flawed, because klei wanted to make Wanda a Glass Cannon, which they fail miserably at doing it, that's the whole point, the point is not make Wanda more weak because yes, is more about Wanda doesn't feel like a glass cannon
@@smellybearc7411 I actually agree about some things said in the video, but the guy's looking at a tree and ignoring the forest. Each character that got updated after Wanda became even broken and stronger than her. However, the guy ignores this and thinks the problem is Wanda. I think he simply hates the character.
@@WanderingNecoArc I see the point but I don’t see a point in making that point. The complaint is “Klei failed at making her a glass cannon and, therefore, her design is flawed”. The reality is “Instead of making a glass cannon character, Keli made something even better”. If they’ve already made a better character than they originally claimed, what’s the point of complaining about it?
wanda doesn't "subjectively fail" as a glass cannon, you're skewing most of dont starve's gameplay down to *combat* which is *intentionally hard to get around* dreadstone armor and night armor are incredibly difficult things to mass produce and, furthermore, get early game: her heath is extremely hard to manage at old age, and can only heal with *one item.* her items are locked behind the ruins after a certain point and *high tier magic.* dont starve minmaxers have such a skewed view on this game and literally do not understand this games balance. wanda is a challenging character. just because you can eventually circumvent her flaws doesn't make her a poorly designed character: it's how you have GROWN IN YOUR WORLD and learned how to adapt and survive even better. Thats The Whole Fucking Point Of The Gaaaaaaaame. if you're asking me, personally? you "subjectively failed" at making a proper analysis of a don't starve character.
i have to disagree whit the reasons but is true that the character could be better, but the glass canon + being easy + his healing is op is like the same issue on the three, if you nerf his healing to be like the jelly beans suddenly all the other issues disappear, his healing being free and quick is what makes her easy and fail on the glass canon title, also you didn't even talk about his other clock the resurrect clock and that one is also huge
You forgot to include that she's awful to play with on a team as a Wortox, in specific. There's literally zero synergy and too much overlap in the fast travel utility. I'm literally less likely to join a server if I see a Wanda on it. 😔
Don't forget that is one of p2w dst exclusive char just like Wurt being able to Thanos snap bosses and Wortox with skill tree now also being able to kill a moon Bearget with the help of a stack of alive butterflies in his pocket. If they weren't gamebreaking or easy in one or few aspects of the game - people wouldn't care for them much to spend money on.
Wurt, Wortox, Wormwood, and Wanda are not pay to win, you can get spools really easily by unweaving your daily gifts, Klei literally just gives it away. With the introduction of skill trees, I would also say that they're no longer the most interesting characters in the game. "DLC characters" are basically just characters that aren't unlocked by default at this point.
@@thegreensunsetgroup2501 the point being the fact that you still gotta make a decision if you need some of them or not. Sure you can grind them by playing the game but some would also just buy these along some skins within a bundle. Pre-skill trees these were pretty game changing chars except wormwood cause is not dst oc

@@AZ-bc7wd I know but since she doesn't act like a glass Canon I don't treat her like a glasscanom and I knew that this concept would never work in dst so I just skipped all the stages of grief into acceptance. In other games there are features that are supposed to work in a way but end up working in a totally different way and as long as it's cool that's ok
@@eberferatu2324 yeah but in the video you've said that she had too many combat shenanigans like the whip range higher damage than the average survivors and the backstep watch, and although her concept were meant to be a glasscanom we all knew that this would never be a thing in the game were we have healing stacking and DMG reduction. Só after that realization it's better to see her as a combat character with some utility than the original concept that was never a option to begin with I know is kinda disappointing but that's how it is. With that being said her skill tree might bring some really cool stuff as long as we stop trynna make her a glasscanom and instead work on her time peace crafting and combat
Before I start I wanna say that I know my profile pic isn't helping me right now but I'm not gonna change it to comment on one video. I was just scrolling through the coments of this video to see what the others had to say about Wanda being a failed character and surprise surprise there were people, not some but several, that disagreed with your opinion. That donsen't mean it isn't valid, I as a Wanda main agree that in a lot of cases her high damage makes her overpowered and the amount of face tanking is ridiculous but let me ask you, could you not have done the same thing with any other character? And not just get the same results but better. Wolfgang is a great example since he gets his double damage, I don't know.... 30 seconds after spawning. Not to mention he dosen't get any speed penalty from the marble armor you used in your previous video, and you could argue that he needs a lot of food to maintain his mighty form but that food could've been obtained in half the time you used to farm for ageless watches. What you don't see is even though YOU DO want to play as a robot, others don't and since the speedrun community in this game is the minority the developers will never change things based on their play style. Now about the backtrack watch, I for one don't think other characters should be allowed to have instant teleportation. When a character gains the same abilities as another it takes away from their uniqueness. I have seen this with with Wickerbottom and Maxwell. If I want to play Maxwell but I really like some of the Wickerbottom books and the farms I am able to create with them I can just change to Wicker, get what I want from her and then change back to Maxwell, in this case Wickerbottom is a swap character. Now imagine if any character would be able to read her books. Why would I ever play her? To me this video is a direct attack at a character you just don't like.
I never said that her being strong is a problem. My thinking is that if I can get all the resources to tank bosses as her in a short time, then surely a somewhat experienced player can get the resources to get a lot of leverage in terms of health. Honestly, at this point I think wanda might actually be the best character for tanking, but the point isn’t that she’s the best, just that she’s good at it
@eberferatu2324 maybe the problem isn't that she is good at tanking but that she was wrongly mislabeled from the start as a glass canon. It seems to me that the type of character Wanda is, is tied to the play style used, so she isn't a failed glass canon she's a versatile character in combat that can adapt to the player using her.
I have not watched the video yet, so here is my opinion on Wanda to begin with. Firstly, I do not believe that extreme ability or overpoweredness is something that is bad in a character. If anything the only thing that matters in a character is whether or not it is fun to engage with a character across the three playstyles (casual, long-play, and rush), as well as whether or not the character subtracts from other players as a result of engaging with the character. Truth be told, I think Wanda is an unfathomably boring character to play from a casual or rush type of playstyle. From a person who had over a hundred hours of Wanda, I had learned the earliest they had ever made just the shadow manipulator, had been 6 in-game days, with 3 days longer to just make the alarming clock. The amount of time that is required to begin using the first of Wanda's best abilities and ways to engage with her character appears as way too long. It's so dissatisfying to play Wanda and be a full 80 minutes into the session before I can think about focusing on non-Alarming Clock stuff, because the whip, the health mechanic, and the backtrek are the only things that the player really appreciates when they play her, each being 10-30 days out of the average player's grasp. I don't judge her ability to stomp upon most of the bosses with ease as a bad or good thing, as I think that there is a place for both characters who need time to reach their potential, and those that unlock it quickly. However, the thing that sucks most about her character is that she has less than nothing to begin with, and essentially nothing to bide her until she gets the Alarming Clock. Her playstyle appears so heavily dependent on that singular item, that in all other playstyle aspects, she is worse than any other character in the game at survival. Shouldn't there be small incremental advancements in her playstyle? A variety of tools that she disassembles, and incorporates into her next design as she climbs a ladder of unique weaponry or utilities. This. This is my hope for what Wanda's skill tree will be like. Not a power upgrade, or a downside negation, but simply just more things to engage the player that are not based upon absurd leaps through her vapid and limited playstyle of waiting ten, twenty, thirty days until you have all the "stuff" that you need to begin enjoying a run.
@cursedbread_ she’s definitely mislabeled. If Klei and the community never called her a glass cannon, I never would have made this argument. However wanda has a lot of perks that encourage the player to play it safe so I think it’s very much the fault of the character, not just play style
Wolfgang can deal 2x damage for free. Get 95% protection and extra inventory space and work more efficiently while mighty. Wortox gets heal and sanity for free . Just by doing the most common task in the game. Wanda is frailer than Maxwell for her max damage output. Night armor still takes away sanity when she gets hit. Wanda's playstyle encourages you to dodge and not face tank even with armor unless you want to fill your inventory with agelesses. Back when there were no skill tree she was busted because they didn't think the whip could stunlock. Then the skill trees were added Everyone else that has the tree is more busted than Wanda. In terms of both utility and combat. And people still complain about her being too op. Like, come on. Just enjoy the game.
In that sense, EVERYONE is encouraged to dodge. wanda is punished LESS for getting hit which is why she isn’t a glass cannon. I’m NOT saying that her being strong is a problem. I also clarified on two separate occasions that people are allowed to enjoy the character
@@eberferatu2324 What I'm saying is that there are still people out there hating on her for that very reason. Wanda this, Wanda that. I'm sick of it. This comment has nothing to do with the video, is just a mindless rant and is proof that i'm losing my mind.
It's weird that my favorite character and the latest addition is so empty of content when they had a lot of time to design it. I say that they implemented it at the last minute and no one knows why.
The thing is that many games are balanced in a way that, if you are good enough, you can never get hit/easily recover from hits. So if there is a character whose big downside is they can't get hit, then they can easily be very OP
That's because dst's armor just makes it impossible for "glass cannons" to exist, they are just "cannons". They are only "glass" when you don't have much experience in dst, but at that point every character will be strong if you do have the experience
@qunas101 are we watching the same video? that was never the point he was trying to make his point was that the devs tried to make her a glass cannon but failed while at the same time giving her extra perks to make up for a nonexistent downside
Wanda did not need anything BUT the sack to cheese klaus. The stagehand is entirely unnecessary.
What a cruel world.
new shit post
I have a friend who mains Wanda, and it is WILD how different the experience is when he isn’t playing Wanda. He dies more often cause he can’t use the easy healing, he takes damage from things he never got hit by before because he’s used to the extra range from the Alarming Clock, and he’d always enter combat without armor because he’s too used to the Alarming Clock carrying him through so many fights. Wanda literally makes players WORSE at the game because of how strong she is, and I’ll fight in that hill until she gets some much needed balancing
Q.E.D.
GET THIS MAN A True...
so she didnt use her alarming clock on you?😅
I saw Wanda at a grocery store in Los Angeles yesterday.
SO THAT'S WHY STUNLOCKING IS SO DIFFERENT NOW

I would like to start off this comment by saying that yes, i am a big fan of the video but i am reviewing it negatively. The video is very good but I don't believe it deserves its 99% like rating. The video has a few simple issues that id like to highlight before the positives:
Most bosses in the game are built for multiplayer.
Its just sad to see it take blow after blow with all these issues, that make the video more fun to watch for than to actually comment. all these issues affect a solid 40% of the video for me and really drag it down from that high rating i think it should deserve.
i agree

Hi orange hope your ok
Did you use voice dictation and accidentally picked up things you said to someone next to you and posted lol
The issue isnt that wanda can tank despite being a glass cannon, because literally every characer can easily face tank if they want. Only diff is the cost, being food ( for the most part )for non wandas
True, but wanda is given a lot of tools to make her better at tanking which is the issue
@eberferatu2324 they should make healing watches have durability and reduce their cost imo so that she can't spam a bunch with no cost to her at all, or maybe make her lose something like sanity when she uses it
Wanda with the alarming clock kinda feels like Walter, but with crazy damage, this game just isn't made for ranged weapons :/
the 2 "glassiest" characters yeah the 2 characters with the lowest health can tank everything in the game
yeah i think this is a character issue not a fundemental issue of dst's armor design, yeah for sure
You’re right that armor is very strong, but wanda has a bunch of perks that make the issue worse

I wouldn’t want the whole game changed because of her. Besides, it has been 3 years since her release, they probably don’t intend to do that
@@eberferatu2324 yea its strange, when a character is so good or has something that breaks stuff in the game, people somehow make the argument that its the game that is badly designed to not be ready for her. it truly is like a friend said, she really does feel like a modded character lol

Imo Wanda's HP should ignore armor, but she should have a gadget that lets her get old safely and fast in case its needed.
That's actually genius
She already doesn't need healing, imo if she doesn't need armor either her progression will become too whack
Yeah she isn’t Walter, big flaw tbh!!
my thoughts before watching the video: worse dps from wolfgang, and a similiar survivability (if not better). Instead of being a glass cannon its just a worse wolfgang in terms of fighting especially with planar things. and her utility is just "lets give her wortox perks but make them worse in every way unless the player mega bases!".
her dps is more practical than wolfgangs though
Wanda to put simply is far to powerful not only is she not a glass cannon but she also has extra perks to balance for her non existent downside which also make her op
She really is not a glass cannon, but just because a character is not hard to play it doesn't mean that it is bad
Imagine if he finds out about the skill trees, he's going to get crazy. But ofc, Wanda is the real problem in the game, isn't?
Actually that's not his point in this video tho, what is he saying is that because Wanda fails as a glass Cannon which is the intentional design, is a bad design
I said that at 9:55
@WanderingNecoArc I agree with his central point here but he brings up some weird points in the vid that can easily be debunked with a little thinking.
@@Gracilus Most of the video can be debunked if we just stop trynna see her ass a glasscanom this concept has been dead for years now idk why people insist on it
Man, I remember how stunlock worked a lot worse after Wanda was added to the game to "nerf" her.
A zero damage whip that has a chance to do the same, but makes spiders stop panicking or some other effect would be kinda cool
wanda made mactusk stunlock immune before i get the 6th hit on him before he moves again, i hate her just for that
What an interesting character design. I should try her out sometime!
as a wanda main, this is pretty much true (except the subjective parts about how fun her gameplay is but again, thats subjective) good video non the less, although it would be pretty fun if her skilltree somehow messed up with this video :)
Something that could help with this is watches of the same type having a shared cooldown, so you can't stack several of them for unlimited healing. It would lock the amount of damage she's allowed to take per day.
this is silly, doesnt it mean theres no reason to have more than one ageless watch?
@@tiqosc1809What if it was diminishing returns? Each time an ageless watch is used it heals less, if no ageless watches are on cooldown then the healing is returned to normal
Glory to Yong Dong Island
true...
Can we just gut everyones damage and kit and get on with jt
I think it would be nice to remove the ability to stack Ageless watches when she gets her skill tree. Even with just one watch, she gains ~20 years a day, and this will make boss fights more difficult, but wasn’t she initially considered a High risk Higk reward character? Considering that she will most likely receive many buffs in her tree, I think this will be a completely balanced debuff.
I think she doesn't even need a skill tree since she's already balanced enough. If I can choose 1 single new thing for her, is a watch bag to minimize her inventory issue.
@@lks19 In any case, the skill tree will appear and this is inevitable.
@@lks19 most likely will be wolfgang-tier skilltree that she'd come with
little to no combat upgrades outside the guaranteed planar damage addition while boasting the supportive side in multiplayer settings as how coaching whistle did for wolfgang
I mean the old content in game is not prepared for range weapons too so i think that her signature weapon isn't that bad also as you said in the wideo planar stuff just nerfs her harrd. They will make the alarming clock planar i think with the skilltree and overall buff her. I am glad that someone just pointed out the tankyness of wanda xD I always argue in the community servers on this topic.
her alarm is quite literally what made other characters have to suffer because of stunlock changes (i especially hate mactusk change). when you add shit to a cake, you shouldnt blame the cake for not being tasty enough to make the shit taste good
I still think Walter is designed worse
i see a very simple solution here - the less hp she has, the more hp she loses. there, biw she IS a glass cannon unless you play it safe, but then playing safe makes you worse then a lot of other characters. alternatively you could make armor less and less effective the less hp you have, those are just my ideas of making her a glass cannon.
the backtreck and backstep watches are in my opinion pure bs, especially because poor wortox exists
now ill be subjective, but she is the most unfun character ever.
I still think a good telehub with the lazy deserter is the most important thing Klei should add in the future.
this and also the fact that 90% of characters dont have a real downside which isint canceled out by their strenghts the only good design of a downside nowadays is like wormwood or warly (warly isint debilitating but overall hes just not worth when wig has electric damage wanda is wanda and other characters have better skills to dish out damage)
edit: this is what made wilson essentially the second worst character next to wes and why they added skilltrees
When’s the tainted eve video

I'mma be honest, at first when wanda came out, i was dying to play with her, and i still loooove her to my bones, but this video truly shows how much of an issue playing with wanda is... She is just... Too easy |:
143.8 dmg per hit, crap ton of health regen, and a love for sweets makes her such an easy character that even i sometimes get bored Xd
I still love her and nothing will change that, she is one of the most fun characters to play with ( till u get ur hands on thulecite and good armor thou ) but only if she was just a lil harder, it would have been AMAZING to play with her

Because of how health and armor works there will never be a way to make a gc character at this point that idea should just be scrapped and her skill tree has to focus more on her combat/utility side and for the sake of consistency she should have a different type of weakness
i wonder what her gameplay would be if she has a limit to her ageless watches (like % durability or just a limit on a number of them in her inventory)
I would agree if Walter wasn’t also in this game even post skilltree his perks are dumb but yeah Le OP character
I think to balance her they should just give her 75 max HP
That wouldn't really help imo (just look at maxwell has 75 hp but he's got no problems and is also an op and bad designed character)
She’ll probably get a skill tree similar to Wolfgang’s
To preface, I hadn't played Wanda yet, but on the topic of balancing op and glass cannon characters, I do have some words.
I wanna think that Wanda *is* balanced as a glass cannon, but for gamers of many years past. Of course people were skilled, but feels like the skill floor and common skill level is a lot higher, which makes it hard to balance things. Things are balanced for people who take it easy sometimes.
eh i think 'years of experience' isnt the requirement, as dst is a game of knowing and practicing, when wanda is a bit of knowing and a lot less practicing lol
As a complete wanda main, this hurts 😭
wait warly fails at his role? I thought hes a really good support character...
powers are situational and relatively expensive for the cost of dealing with his downsides, only has 2 major upsides being pepper spice and voltgoat jelly
At which role did warly failed?
Being a support character. I don’t think Klei ever explicitly said he’s supposed to be that but many people consider him that
@eberferatu2324 i play warly and i fell like am taking care of bunch a babys, we don't have wormwook so am the one, they don't know nor want to cook so they rather die from hunger than eat something from fridge, and honestly those buffs aren't much, i did placed mod for mode recipes and crops, it works really well, isn't op, helps a lot when you have vegan on team
Or maybe play single player DS instead lol.
Wanda skill tree when??🔥🔥🔥
wanda doesn't "subjectively fail" as a glass cannon, you're skewing most of dont starve's gameplay down to *combat* which is *intentionally hard to get around*
dreadstone armor and night armor are incredibly difficult things to mass produce and, furthermore, get early game: her heath is extremely hard to manage at old age, and can only heal with *one item.* her items are locked behind the ruins after a certain point and *high tier magic.*
dont starve minmaxers have such a skewed view on this game and literally do not understand this games balance. wanda is a challenging character. just because you can eventually circumvent her flaws doesn't make her a poorly designed character: it's how you have GROWN IN YOUR WORLD and learned how to adapt and survive even better. Thats The Whole Fucking Point Of The Gaaaaaaaame.
if you're asking me, personally? you "subjectively failed" at making a proper analysis of a don't starve character.
But her name is wanda
Glory to Yong Dong
i have to disagree whit the reasons but is true that the character could be better, but the glass canon + being easy + his healing is op is like the same issue on the three, if you nerf his healing to be like the jelly beans suddenly all the other issues disappear, his healing being free and quick is what makes her easy and fail on the glass canon title, also you didn't even talk about his other clock the resurrect clock and that one is also huge
You forgot to include that she's awful to play with on a team as a Wortox, in specific. There's literally zero synergy and too much overlap in the fast travel utility. I'm literally less likely to join a server if I see a Wanda on it. 😔
At least she has second chance watch
"DLC characters" are basically just characters that aren't unlocked by default at this point.

oh no the combat character is good at combat 😫 although i agree that she bottlenecks fast travel.
Three words, Winona and Wortox
Never said she should be bad at combat
You missed the entire point of the vid the problem isn't that she's good at combat the problem is she's meant to be a glass cannon but she isn't
I find it extreamly weird that wanda is a character that needs end game items (thulecite) to do anything
Wanda would be more fun if she was frailer AND hit harder tbh
I hate her too, she just embraces the new shitty combat style that the game has headed towards
Wanda's playstyle encourages you to dodge and not face tank
even with armor unless you want to fill your inventory with agelesses.
Back when there were no skill tree she was busted because they didn't think the whip could stunlock.
Then the skill trees were added
Everyone else that has the tree is more busted than Wanda.
I'm sick of it.

hi eber
Hi eber
It's weird that my favorite character and the latest addition is so empty of content when they had a lot of time to design it. I say that they implemented it at the last minute and no one knows why.
Why is she your favorite character when you sound like you don’t like her at all lol
Lol let wanda be op man...
arent there supposed to be polar bears in this game
I kind agree
Nonsense
i've started to notice a trend where the supposed "glass cannon" characters are always the strongest
yikes
The thing is that many games are balanced in a way that, if you are good enough, you can never get hit/easily recover from hits. So if there is a character whose big downside is they can't get hit, then they can easily be very OP
It's because of the op armour i question why they tried to make an glass cannon when there are armours that have 90/95% damage reduction
That's because dst's armor just makes it impossible for "glass cannons" to exist, they are just "cannons". They are only "glass" when you don't have much experience in dst, but at that point every character will be strong if you do have the experience
eberferatu smells
So if you know how to play the game the game then becomes easy. Amazing insight, I don't know what I would do without that information
@qunas101 are we watching the same video? that was never the point he was trying to make his point was that the devs tried to make her a glass cannon but failed while at the same time giving her extra perks to make up for a nonexistent downside
dst players when the challenge is to not strawman people for 5 seconds
