    I have an african lovebird and a cockatiel (technically my father's birds) in the same cage they get along so well that they cant get seperated.Sometimes my lovebird climbs on my tiel and pecks its tail LOLL,although they're both naughty and sweet at the same time😫😋

    My parents bought a female lovebird in March/April 2019 and I rescued a male cockatiel in October of the same year.
    The first time they were together, the lovebird left her cage and went to cockatiel's. Then, she took him off of the cage, ate his seeds and took a bath on his water.
    I also have an Amazon parrot. Both the cockatiel and the lovebird loved to fly to the parrot's cage (because it was bigger and had more food than their cages). They hated each other but I always made sure that they didn't hurt each other. The lovebird was always messing with the big one, like bitting his tail, but they never bitted her back because she always dodged too fast.
    Unfortunately, my youngest sister killed the lovebird but I still have the parrot and the cockatiel.

      Thank You very much @Marina Carmezim 🙏🏼 That is very nice of you to rescue a sweet cockatiel. We have a similar experience with a lovebird… they’re very territorial. Yes, you have to supervise the lovebird at all times. They’re still very sweet and adorable. I’m very sorry for your loss 🥺

      Awwwwww that is so devastating….. Precisely why birds are NOT “starter animals” and I absolutely hate that so many people think they are! It’s literally like giving a baby to a baby…. And I’m not saying you did that, yours sounds like it was an unforeseen tragedy. I am SO sorry for your loss!!!!!!

    My friend has a lovebird, and we decided to put the lovebird in my cockatiel’s cage, the love bird got so excited, it made a weird sound for 20 minutes, bobbing his head for 20 minutes, while my cockatiel just did a simple hiss.

    • @xiar5546
      @xiar5546 ปีที่แล้ว

      Head bobbing is usually a sign of not liking a situation. Probably shouldn’t force them to be in the same cage rather let them see each other and go in together in their own time.

    i always keep my two sweetybirds apart cause of interactions they dont mix often cause of what i saw as a kid a neighbor in Port orchard back in 1982 had birds of all kinds and they were all hurt cause they kept pecking and biting each other he had tiels and love birds a few conures too but he was just uncaring it was the same one we got Shebra from, after what i saw there i always kept everything separated cause no matter what they always try to bite each other and boy tiels are very territorial even Pikachu there was having that look oh no you didn't that millet was for me my Sunshine and cooper like each other but i keep them distanced im always super careful not to let them try to hurt each other they do talk back and forth and i spend time with each of them every day and night too and tiels once they choose you they are a one person sweetybird and do get jealous of other birds if they are new and see them close to their chosen one and are emotional birdies too but the most loving to you always.

      Bigger cage and the dowel perches need to be replaced with natural perches plus two separate cages for safety reasons. Love birds have bigger and more powerful beaks compared to the cockatiel and can seriously hurt the cockatiel.
