What a beautiful video. I am a cockatiel owner and I can attest to the exactness of this video. If you are patient and loving to your cockatiel, they will reward you with their sweet love!!! ❤
Two problems with #10: 1) Regurgitation can be a sign that they want to mate with you, and should be discouraged just in case 2) The example video shows a tiel chewing on a rope toy, which is *awful*. For one they can chew rope strands, swallow them, and they collect in their crop until they need surgery or die. Or two, they can get their neck or feet tangled up in the rope and strangle themselves and die (or chew off their own foot out of sheer panic). If you’ve already bought one you can let them use it supervised out of the cage, but otherwise don’t buy them
I love cockatiels so much, with their little feet those big beautiful eyes and of course their mohawk, I can’t even describe how adorable they are🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
I know that feel, i've lost my dear boy three days ago 😢 he let his last breath literally on my hands, and i'm missed him so much. He was 23 years old and got very sick, while i was on a business trip. At least he was keeped his state long enough to wait for my return and for passing not in solitude.
I have a cockatoo and he does all of this except give me his toys he will even let me flip him upside down and the Palm of my hand and tickled his belly Mind you though he was a hand fed baby
I was at a pet store once and there was a cockatiel that would go up to the glass and follow me around in the glass cage i just wish i could’ve adopted it but i had no money
@@kwiiin_then from where? Where else would one get them? Just a curious question I never wanted to adopt a bird.. I feel it's too unnatural for a bird to live at house. But this morning one cockatiel came to my house.. he was very scared. Natural reaction was to give him water and to comfort him. Now he is sitting here for half a day and we all feel so much of love towards it. Tried to search for owner.. but so far no luck
@@shirukk1234 There are animal shelters. We only own birds because a neighbour of my spouse wanted to get rid of them half a year after owning them. Pets are unnatural, so are lots of things. Check your animal shelter, if you can't keep the birb (with another), or animal rescues, since your tiel is probably wild. :)
My cockatiel still does about half the things on this list, but I worry that I may have lost his trust from "rejecting" those love nips by pulling my hand away every time. I literally thought it was a sign that I was too close to his personal space... now I'm second guessing that after this video. He also only seems to sing when I'm not in the room. 🤔
Read my comment above. You have very likely a female cockatiel. Female cockatiels do not dance, they don't show off to impress you, they don't sing and some other things mentioned in the video.
You should never pull your hands away from a bird. It tells them that it's ok to bite harder until they become like my Cody who I took from people who were abusing him. Now, I've been struggling for years to help him become friendly. He sings with me and for me. But I don't think he'll ever let anyone touch him ever again. I've tried everything. I had a bird trainer tell me he's untrainable but I won't give up and he's pretty old.
@@rosemarycoe1916 I mean, I do not entirely agree with that. There are times to pull your hand away from a bird, like if you're too close for comfort, they're tired or hormonal, etc. Sadly, I wonder if Cody's previous owners tried to tame him too fast. Thankfully my bird never got aggressive from rejected love nips, just seemingly indifferent. Our bond has gotten stronger thanks to what I improved on after watching this video.
My cockateils only sleep on me and bite me gently but I noticed they do everything here to eachother (except the mating related ones cause they are bith females)

Hello I have a question I have a cocktail bird named Louise she shows all the signs and she is very but she does not allow me to touch and play with her why?
Birds naturally, do not want to be handled like dogs and cats. It’s just not in their nature. it doesn’t mean your little one hates you, Louise most likely enjoys being near you, but has set a boundary. Don’t be discouraged, she may not ever want to be handled, but try to take things slow and be gentle and she may come around. If not, try to respect her boundaries and let her show affection the way she’s comfortable with (by being near you) ❤️
They just love her scritches, try moving your finger little above his head and slowly start touching and scritching... I am pretty sure you will be able to do that.. check my videos
Mine cockatiel is the same, as the other comment said some birds just don't like to be touched. It's nothing bad against you. Your little one still loves you.

He might be singing because he misses you, if he doesn’t have a bird companion. And if you’re in the room with him there’s no perceived need to sing

Many of these sign only apply to male cockatiels, not female cockatiels.
