    It is definitely easy to choke doing this... the one and only time I attempted to speed-eat something (I had been watching a lot of TH-cam videos and was curious if I could do it) I tried to down a Big Mac. Huge mistake. Maybe five seconds and roughly halfway into the burger I took a wrong breath, got some food in my throat, and had the worst coughing fit as I tried to hack up the food and not die. In the five-ish seconds leading up to that point, I thought I had the technique down... nope. I've never wanted to be a competitive eater, this was solely out of curiosity, and my experiment proved that I am not cut out for that task and those that do it are definitely way better at it than I am.

    There is more to it because there are heavy people who can eat a lot of food but not 10,000-50,000 plus calories. Also yes seeing some of these competitors like Matt Stonie, it kind of makes you wonder and worry about his kidney function, blood pressure, diabetes & cholesterol. I thought I read that he wanted to become a dietitian, however he then should know the dangers of completive eating, which begs the question, why keep eating like this?

    Gastroparesis isn’t a condition of the stomach becoming too stretched. It is when the vagus nerve is unable to open to pyloric valve to empty the stomach-the contractions are reduced. This can happen to people whether they eat large or small amounts, though the more food in the stomach, the worse the paresis tends to be. But it still isn’t about stomach stretching.

  • @elizabethdysart3690
    @elizabethdysart3690 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Gastroparesis is delayed or halted stomach emptying, due to neuropathy, and has nothing to do with the size of ones stomach, but rather the nerve impulses that allow it to empty. It would make sense if the muscles became so stretched that the nerve impulses became weak and the muscles couldn’t contract properly, but gastroparesis is delayed stomach emptying, and it can be caused by many things. It is not an overstretched stomach that can’t digest food.

    Competitive eating is the most overindulgent, stupid type of entertainment there is. There's nothing talented about cramming down half a pig into your gut. With the way the world is going, food is going to become harder and harder to grow and growing populations will demand more food. Top soil is supposedly going to disappear in 60 years time. The last thing we need are individuals eating enough to feed a family, just in the name of entertainment. It is just stupid and irresponsible behaviour.

  • @Isperada

    I had a disgusting thought. What if when the stomach is full, the partialy digested food gets pushed into the intestins? If this happened , the stuff that comes out the back end might be recognizable as the stuff they ate. Which might also explain competors reluctance to explain there 'experience'.

    I've actually participated in an eating competition just cuz I was curious, and friends and family had always encouraged me to do so seeing how much I could eat... I completed the challenge, and I felt happy... but boy, did I feel uncomfortable after that. I had to on a 3 hr walk afterwards lol

    So basically in general you didn't point anything wrong with big meals.
    Obesity is related with nutrition overall, doesn't matter if you have one big meal.
    Gastrectomy and gastreparasis aren't a concern for healthy people

      starvation in fragments is very healthy. Humans were meant to go days without food. A lot of modern health problems stem from having constant access to carbs.

    The biggest meal that I have ever eaten is probably after fasting or exercising and going in the sauna. Sometimes I burn 3,500 calories or fast for weeks, so I can eat a lot at a time too. I like to eat organic whole grains, organic nuts, organic beans, etc. Competitive eating is fascinating, but I don't think it is for me.

    My largest meal was:
    -1.5 quarts of ice cream
    -Two packs of Ramen
    -One personal sized pizza
    -Two bowls of Alfredo Pasta
    -Three bowls of cheerios
    And I'm still skinny

    All I want to know is do they actually absorb all the calories they eat? Or maybe when you it too much food some of it isn't digested or at least the nutrients don't infinitely go into your body? You didn't broach this subject and I'm really curious if they really have to do hours and hours of cardio afterwards.

  • @Frie_Jemi
    @Frie_Jemi 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    A couple of problems. You failed to mention that alot of eaters don't digest everything. Purging is common. Second, if you eat 10000 calories Monday, you might only eat 300 - 400 on each of the next 3 days! Less than 3000 a day on the weekly average. Alot of eaters are lean and VERY healthy because they only eat this way intermittently as part of a dieting plan known as intermittent fasting. So all in all if you are grossed out by it don't watch it.

    The best competitive eaters are fairly skinny and healthy, there is a proper way to get into competitive eating, you need to train properly to perform properly, Takeru Kobayashi is the greatest competitive eater of all time and he weights at most 60kg probably less.
