They already have a X10 Optical Zoom lens using a dedicated telephoto lens. It’s like how camera photographers would swap lenses between shots, but it’s automatic. Since in a phone it would look silly and cumbersome having an actual moving zoom lens outside, Sony use mirrors to mimic a zooming lens inside. Much like a periscope but very small with a tinier sensor than a regular phone sensor.

Tecno Phantom Z2 pro actually has that camera feature. Of course not bearing the same lens quality as that for Sony(Carl Zeiss) but the main lens of the camera does move.
You can understand by looking at the captured photos. Digitally zoomed images will have more pixelated blocks & lesser anti-alising than optically optical zoomed ones. Although differentiating it requires some practice, but it's still doable.

ive tested the main lens (on the newer 1 V) at the same zoom as the minimum on the optical, there is a difference, optical is better but the main sensor only puts out 12mp stills.
Nope,. They spend so much time with the hardware and left the processing behind.. and what you get is a very expensive camera phone that under performs. Its a camera savvy's wet dream phone but no camera savvy wants it, since they already have DSLRs for professional shots and an iphone to take quick photos to post online..

Galaxy s22 and s23 ultra has the same feature, you can zoom and zoom and stop at any number between 0.6 and 100for example, you can scroll it the same way as this and stop at 10.7 or 20.3xand so on

Just words -- you did not show the zoom (movement of the lens) in the phone. Due to the low resolution and being out of focus in the video, the demo failed to even show whether the zoom was optical or digital.
Dude technology has simply become dumber in recent years. S9 introduced var aperture I think. S9/S8 also had a cool 3D ToF sensor right beside the main camera. Now it's replaced with a simple dull 2d laser sensor.

But when you're recording yourself you're making multiple focus ... meaning if you'll just look at one direction while recording yourself will make your eye coordination better with the camera...I feel you're watching yourself while recording...but keep that screen down to your camera Instead of side...coz the difference is visible when you're looking in camera or when you're looking somewhere else... It is a very small thing but might make atleast 1% difference of how ppl watch your videos. ♥️
You genuinely have the same camera knowledge as a potato Samsung has TWO FIXED telephoto lens. One is fixed at 3X and the other one at 10X. That means that the zoom that you make from 1X to 2.9X will be digital zoom. The zoom that you make from 3.1X to 9.9X will be digital zoom from the 3X telephoto lens... And lastly, the zoom that you make from 11X to 100X will be digital zoom coming from the 10X lens. It also uses some algorithm and ai methods to make the digital zoom look a little bit better, but in reality, it's still digital zoom.

Hey Parker. There's a setting on the Samsung camera app that allows you to use the volume buttons to adjust zoom. You'll get the same result.

@@aidizikri95 you dont need to be a technician to know how this works lol, the S20U has a fixed lens, the moving parts are the focusing and OIS (optical image stabilisation). the Xperia has all, focus, OIS and variable zoom. the Samsungs do not have variable zoom. they are fixed at 3x/10x.

I used to work as a technician in Mumbai for Sony India between 1998 - 2009 ..we were know for Quality services back then. Until some Delhi company bid the contract out of our hands.
