    Not being able to look out the window whenever you like must suck. That's the reason you sit by a window. I've flown many times at night and the view you get on full moon is one of the most beautiful sights. The moons reflctions off the land, sea and clouds is just magic. If you're lucky you'll be treated to a lightening show from a thunderstorms in the distance. Great video.

      I wouldn't fly this route for that exact reason - I decided to fly with SQ via SIN on the A380 in Business Class and no problem looking out the window when I wanted. I then had a couple of days to adjust in Singapore before continuing in Business Class to Perth. I'm glad I did it that way. When you are spending thousands on a flight, you want to get it right!

The best part is when they tell us to the rear of the air craft and the back opens up , it time for a halo jump, a halo jump is when the plane flying at an altitude of over 30 thousand feet, of course we need oxygen because you free fall for about two to three minutes, we have the saying if my shut don't open wide I've gotta reserve by my side and if that on should fail me too look out Devil I'm comin for you ? Just want to tell you that no matter how good it looks with out decent sound nobody is gona sit thru till the end. Hi Jeb, I thanked you for your review as my wife and I were booked on this flight from Melbourne to Heathrow on 1 April 2019. The flight was fabulous and we agree that the international lounge in Perth is one of the most welcoming lounges on the planet. Best of all, my wife who unlike me is no flight geek, absolutely loved it. After a memorable seven weeks in Spain, Portugal, France , Netherlands and Hungary, the Qantas flight back was similarly outstanding. Qantas staff on some of the sectors were the same and recognised us. It helped us to resolve to book the first opportunity for proposed long Qantas flights between Melbourne and hopefully Paris, or Chicago and perhaps New York. Looking forward to seeing you in the sky on one of those!

    Thanks Jeb Brooks, straight to the point rather than giving a long boring account like some bloggers. It's absurd that Qantas insist on keeping the windows closed on a night flight, the most negative aspect of this journey. Much nicer departing from smaller airports like Perth where there's less hassle, arriving at Heathrow is always better than departing unless you're on a very late flight when the place has emptied a bit.

  • @a1bc095
    @a1bc095 5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    The only reason you got into Heathrow with no delay at the arrivals gate was because only long haul flights are allowed to take-off to land that early. I can't remember how long the flight has to be to be classed as long haul but if it's short, say Paris to London it cant take off if it'll land before 5am or after 11pm. After 11pm all flights are technically not allowed to land but the occasional one does

I would have to go first class and have a full-size 7/4 sleeper bed with extra width, and a individual play skaven with multiple windows. Nice video, my daughter recently took a 787 from Chicago to Rome, and I like the video so I know her experience on the 787 must have been cool. I do not like that the window dimming was controlled by the flight attendants, especially because it was a night flight because those prone to motion sickness need to peer out if an attack hits--looking at the horizon, even in the night sky, helps.
    I have flown more than 500K miles as a business traveler and about 100K miles as a tourist, I prepared differently for my flights depending on whether they were business or pleasure. Until I built up air miles, I flew coach on business and always asked for a window seat in the rear of the aircraft, never an exit row seat, because I found free space for my carry on and could board and get settled first, I did that when I flew with my family too.
    My last two flights were non-stops -- Phoenix to London on the classic 747-400 and I upgraded to premium economy, which was quite nice, more for the elbow than the leg room.
    The entertainment was cool--I watched "Star Wars - Rogue One (which replaced Empire Strikes Back as my favorite of the series which launched when I was in High School)" going to London and again on the non-stop return one month later.
    I will fly to Europe again just so I can fly on the 787, like my daughter has done--she returns home in six weeks.

    I've made this trip, as well as the Heathrow-Sydney trip twice. Both in economy. The second time was a repatriation flight due to COVID - definitely not normal service or operations.
    Now I am 6 foot 4.
    That 32" pitch was my absolute enemy. On the second of the flights, the cabin crew were kind enough to move me to a vacant exit row seat. But it still wasn't comfortable.
    My height and leg-length is the prime reason why I completely avoid all Boeing aircraft, as the airlines seem to want to cram more people into those rather than provide a comfortable service.

    • @RB747domme
      @RB747domme 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yi Su LEE it's a terrible policy. If Qantas left Perth 4 hours later, they would have about 12 hours of night for people to sleep, and about 4 or 5 hours of daylight coming into land in London.
      Not only that, but psychologically, as well as physiological, it's not good to be locked in a cabin environment with the windows dimmed in the dark with artificial lights on with no way of knowing where you are. It feels claustrophobic, and can increase air sickness. The ability to open a window and just see some lights down below will give you a sense of movement and help you and your brain adjust to being on an aircraft.
      If Qantas did a better job of designing their cabins, they could allow business class and first class passengers to individually undim their windows without disturbing other passengers who wish to sleep. It's a terrible policy.

    In my experience Qatar business is the most enjoyable. I’ve flown to Doha (Qatar) and from there to Chennai. On the way to India I flew the long haul business in the A350 herringbone formation seats, which were most comfortable. The headphones with noise cancellation were amazing. To Doha was around 14 hours. The shorter part of the flight (five hours) on the short haul (?) business class was also enjoyable. The privacy without doors makes you really feel alone. On the way back from Chennai I got to experience the 777 QSuite that had just been released. This was a truly amazing experience. Extremely private, very comfortable, and the noise cancellation on their headphones is really good. In my opinion Qatar has the best business class

Even if there isn't much to see outside the windows, it still gives you a sense of movement and where you are, spotting the lights below, and seeing maybe a tiny bit of horizon, helps a person adjust to the angle of the aircraft and helps with air sickness.

    Of all the flight review videos on youtube, I'd say yours are amongst the best - you have a very friendly, natural commentary style which I like. Sam Chui is good but his videos often seem more like flashy promotional ads for the airlines than honest reviews. Josh Cahill used to be quite good but has recently turned into a bit of a drama queen, possibly in a bid to add more subscribers. Dennis Bunnik is very informative but the videos tend to be a bit formulaic. Anyway, keep up the good work.
