This is the reason I bought
    BYD Atto 3.
    5 Stars Crash Test rating.
    Blade battery.
And many safety features usually only in high end cars.
And BYD Atto 3 got them ALL !!!!!!!
BYD Atto 3 was built from ground-up
meaning the chassis & body are made purposely strong
to support the weight of the battery & in event of accident,
    prevent accident' serious injuries.
Many other EV are NOT built from ground-up
but instead built from existing ICE car structure.
Which cannot support the heavy battery load.
    ======================
    My story:
    a few months ago,
me & my friend (we are both old guys)
    visited the BYD showroom.
I booked it & got it about 3 months later.
My friend did NOT, because he was not sure.
If he did booked it and bought it,
he will not be what he is now.
    Half paralyzed.
Drove out of the house in his daughter' car
    > an old Peugeot 308
Drove & crashed into neighbor house.
Total loss for the Peugeot 308.
    COMPLETE FRONT GONE !!
He is a rich guy & has many other cars in the house.
But I think because of sentimental value,
he kept the Peugeot 308 & use it daily.
I can be 100% sure, his injuries will be much
less & not half paralyzed if he was driving a safe car like
    BYD Atto 3.
    ==================
In our old age especially, driving will not be as alert as a
young person, that's why a safe car is very important.
BYD Atto 3 is one of them !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you for listening to my ranting.
    Have a nice day.

The central divide airbag is a great idea to prevent side sheer damage to the brain. However, it was clear from the videos that on side impact there was tremendous flexion of the neck which in reality could lead to severing or severe compression of the s[inal cord on the crirical cervical area, which would lead to paralysis, raraesthesia or death. Would be better to make the central airbag wider, particularly at shoulder to head level.

Impressive, this the birth of a new strong competitor for EU brands, in the interest of EU consumers and their buying power.
Euro NCAP should implement also fire safety standards for battery break and short circuit, plus a team of experienced firefighters to judge ease of opening doors and rescue FAST civillians trapped inside (no hidden doors handles... very smart👎, by other brands).
This should be mandatory for all EVs (some considerations can apply also on ICEs and Hybrids).

I think safety first, people’s lives are the most important, and it’s best to use real data to prove it.

It's weird that in BYD cars sent for crash tests, the airbags deployed as per normal but when actual cars driven on the road by drivers, the airbags were not deployed. Sometimes I really question the reliability and safety standards of BYD cars, search for BYD fail videos and you will know why.

It is undeniable that Chinese cars have made progress in recent years, but for a Chinese-made car, you need at least 5 years to test its stability and manufacturability. Among the American, German, Japanese, Korean, and Chinese models of the same period, the earliest models that people gave up were Chinese cars because their stability made people want to replace them as soon as possible.
Don’t ask me why, I’m in China and I still choose Japanese cars.

Good structure, lazy airbag programming. It seems they've designed all 5 side airbags (both curtains, torso airbags, and front center airbag) to go off in any front or side collision. While the logic may be sound for a side crash, for a front offset crash only the driver's side curtain airbag provides a benefit, the passenger side curtain airbag, torso airbags and front center airbag have no reason to go off. And in the full front crash no side airbags should go off, especially not the center airbag!

A car hitting fully square on is unlikely, and even if it did there is likely to be secondary lateral deflection. A family friend was hit head on and his head went through the side window then hit the A-pillar, and was killed instantly. In an Audi with no airbags.
