"Origins of Purity" - Cinematic short film produced with BMPCC and BMMCC in Ladakh

  • For better quality please watch in 4k (upscaled) to bypass TH-cam compression!
    What are the origins of innocence? Have we ever been truly pure in our spirit? When you look at majestic nature you cannot help but think that it’s there, so close that it almost penetrates you and wakes up distant memories of some ancient pure self. Yet there’s always the yearning for just a little bit more to be complete. Be it through prayer, everyday virtuous behavior, humility or even ascesis. It’s a journey though, lasting a lifetime and it’s very important to steer clear from values of transient nature corrupting fragile human soul…
    This one came to fruition in July last year during our two-week vacation in grand and sublime Ladakh region in Northern India and shot in a matter of days in and around Leh (particularly near Stakna Monastery) and on Tso Moriri Lake. Though it took a one man filming/editing team somewhat longer to put the film together)
    Enjoy!

    • @dimavosk
      @dimavosk  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! Regarding the cam, you can still pull a somewhat more nostalgic, softly textured picture out of BMPCC which is really unique but the difference is subtle and BMMCC is not really far behind in this respect, producing clearer image, shooting long enough on a usual battery without the need of an external power solution, recording a superior audio with a shotgun mike plus those 50/60 fps. So the choice is obvious))

    Здравствуйте! Фантастическая работа! Я с недавних пор стал владельцем первого покета и не перестаю удивляться возможностями и характером этой камеры. Сейчас думаю о покупке еще одного БМ, в качестве второй камеры. Выбираю между 2,5К и Микро. Снимаю много как в студии (интервью, обзоры), так и на улице (различные творческие съемки, фешн). Скажите, пожалуйста, какой процент использования у вас приходится на Микро и Покет? Что используете чаще? Понятно, что 60фпс есть только у Микры, но интересен реальный опыт человека.

      ILYA SISYUKIN спасибо) предыдущие короткометражки снимались исключительно на оригинальную BMPCC. Здесь же доминирует Микро просто потому, что задумывалась замедленная съемка. Но по цвету они одинаковые, как и почти во всём остальном, кроме тех самых 60/50 кадров в секунду и более продолжительной работы аккумулятора

  • @edwardenciu

    Amazing work!!! I'm curious if you notice the slight difference in the pocket compared to the micro? The micro seems to give flatter textures in the skin and mid-tones in my opinion (like a clay texture). The pocket has more of that filmic depth and gradation in those tones (like a platinum texture).

    • @dimavosk
      @dimavosk  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Thanks, and a good eye)) indeed there’s a slight difference in tonality between both cameras, at least the way I perceive it, with Micro being more neutral and cleaner thus allowing for just a bit more of a flexibility when grading. I wouldn’t say the texture is less pronounced or that BMPCC is more filmic. In the end it’s the same sensor, same bit depth and codecs, with both cameras producing exceptionally correct skin tones when judging by the skin tones line on the vectroscope. And ultimately it all comes down to grading

    • @dimavosk
      @dimavosk  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Original cameras produce a more organic less perfect picture with pronounced texture that you can’t achieve with the newer BMPCC’s. Those are just too smooth, flawless for my taste. BMPCC 4K’s image tends to be yellowish, sepia like with flatter skin tones lacking nuances that the older sensors are capable off. BMPCC 6K is certainly better in this regard but then again that slick sharp picture, lacking imperfections. Besides, the last thing I, the amateur film-maker, need are those huge 6K files))

      @@dimavosk I love the look of OG bmpcc. but it doesn't have 60 fps which is essential time by time. TY.

    • @dimavosk
      @dimavosk  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@milanjani7615 well, all those cinematic cameras need to be rigged up to function properly. At least BMMCC has a decent battery life to the point that I don't use any external battery add-ons. It's not the case with the original BMPCC and the 4k or 6K. As for the monitor, the built-in screen on the original one is not usable and with the newer Blackmagic cams you'd still want to use external monitor for ease of use, though of course their screens are far better than the original.
