I picked up a cheap Hatz 2G40 from Craigslist in unknown condition, so this is my first attempt at getting it to run. Also bonus 7.3idi cold start at the end.
I just picked up a hatz 2 cylinder for $300 with only 400 hours on it. Runs like a top. I'm thinking about putting it in a Ford festiva lol. Do you think they can handle a little turbo?
Sure. Those engines have absurdly thick head studs for the size of the engine, since they go all the way through the block to also function as main studs. Plus they use grooved head gaskets for extra seal. Should be fine with a turbo.
