    *LSFG Guide*
    1 - Set your game to borderless fullscreen (if the option does not exist or work then windowed, it does NOT work with exclusive fullscreen)
    2- Set "Scaling Mode" to "Auto" and "Scaling Type" to "Off" (this ensures you're playing at native & not upscaling, since the app also has upscaling functionality which you can use if you want)
    3 - Cap your in game FPS to half your monitors refresh rate hertz. If your hertz isn't evenly dividable like 165 just round down (this tip applies to the DXGI capture method, if using a different form of capturing there's an additional requirement which is that you need a stable and locked framerate for correct framepacing)
    *LSFG Tips*
    Tip 1: Some people found better results adding Lossless Scaling to their driver software then enabling forced v-sync on it
    Tip 2: Overlays can interfere with Lossless Scaling
    Tip 3: Things under the "Rendering" tab except "Draw FPS" in the program may cause issues. If you encounter any issues disable them
    Tip 4: Playing with controller offers a better experience than mouse as latency penalties are much harder to perceive
    Tip 5: Enhanced Sync, Fast Sync & Adaptive Sync do not work
    Tip 6: Due to the fact LSFG has a performance overhead use a scale factor of 1.1 or 1.2 to offset its cost entirely (recommended to use with LS1 or FSR1)
    Some of these tips require experimentation/testing, so actually see if they help or harm your experience

      Oh great idea I never thought about this before! I'll add an exception to rtss for LS. Thanks!

    • @N3koyama
      @N3koyama 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      The first part is not necessary, rtss does not affect Lossless Scaling.
      The only way to Actually Cap FPS on Lossless Scaling is via Driver Level, that means either with Nvidia control panel or AMDs counterpart.
      You can test this with the Draw FPS Option in Lossless Scaling, it will show you the Frames it's generating.
      If I'm wrong, pls correct me!

    If using upscale I recommend using LS1 and LS1 performance. They are machine-learning spatial upscalers made by the developer behind lossless scaling and they are amazing at preserving details. LS1 has the same impact on the hardware as FSR1 with way better quality, while LS1 Performance has lesser quality than standard LS1 but with more FPS, and higher quality and FPS than FSR1.

I put a shortcut on my mmo mouse with the scale hotkey because you need to enable and disable when switching between programs. (So far its somewhat usable for gaming )

    I first discovered the magic of frame generation when I got my 4060 laptop and tried some modern games that had framegen. It was wild. I got lossless scaling so I can use framegen on older games and maybe even building games where the framerate starts to dip after you build too much.
    P.s. a 4060 is fantastic, it runs new games that have framegen with max graphics at 1080p. But I would suggest anyone who is looking for a new card or laptop to go with a 4070. Because it will be more suited for 1440p. 1080p is really, really whack man, it looks so soft and has so muc aliasing. Of course if you have a smaller screen that's lower res then it mitigates it a little. But I use a 32" 4k, 240hz screen. At 1440p I generally get 60/100 frames but they are all over the place so it feels laggy. At 1080p I get 100/120 frames and it's super smooth and stabe.
    I kinda hope this might also allow me to play some games 1440p with smooth frames. That said, I would not use this app for shooters and competitive games, because frame gen, esp if it's not baked in to the game will mess with your reticle etc

    Actually wanted to use this Frame Generation tech in competitive games more specifically in Valorant and wanted to observe the overall performance in it.
    My Specs are
    CPU - Intel Core i7 870 (4c/8t) @ 2.9 Ghz Locked ( 95 Watt )
    GPU - GT 710 GDDR3 Variant (Overclocked while gaming only to Memory +220 Mhz and Base Clock to +430 Mhz) (30ish Watt after Overclock)
    Ram - 8gb DDR3 at 1330 ( at 9:9:9:24:174 )
    Storage - Samsung Evo 870 (500 GB Variant)
    Overall in it. I do get around 70 to 120 FPS at most but then too much of the Agents abilities are going on at that time the games does lag up extremely.
    FPS does drop somewhere around 40 to 50ish for around 5 to 10 seconds.
    So Was Curious to see what kind of magic can this Frame Generation Technology can do on these really low end Graphic Cards,
    Can it really breath a new life in it ?

    So you set the desired resolution in the game itself, (so for me it would be 4k) and if i set the lossless upscaling to 2x it would set the render resolution to like 1080p and upscale it to 4k
    OR
    I set the render resolution (at like 1080p/1440 sorry idk how 2x works, if it doubles the pixeldensity or the height of the resolution, my guess the pixeldensity) and then set it to 2x to get 4k?
    From the video i would guess the first since you said after you set it the fps increases, not the resolution, but i am still at a loss on how this works

  • @Jakiyyyyy
    @Jakiyyyyy 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

    I have a question. In the previous versions, the upscaling does work. But now with the latest update the scaling seem like it no longer work. I tried with the LS1, NIS, FSR but none of these worked. I also checked and unchecked the Resize Before Scaling and Windowed Mode and Auto option but nothing the upscaling would do. Tried with 1.5x but not working too. Of course it's activated but no frames came out of it despite being GPU bounded. The frames just dozen change. It even reduce the frames while activated. LSFG however does work. But you don't have to lock half of your refresh rate. As long as you can maintain those frames it's going to be okay. From 30 to 60, from 60 to 120. What do though? It seems like they keep get rekt every updates.

People tend to notice latency in games not so much the frame rate itself (higher frame rate = lower latency).
    Some game engines suffer from significant input latency issues, even at high frame rates causing the game to feel laggy/not smooth, which can negatively impact the gaming experience. For instance, the input latency of 140hz monitor at 140fps is something like 6.5ms. If the software doubles your frame rate from 70fps (with a 13ms latency), but also increases input latency by 2-3 times (26ms-39ms) with frame generation, the overall experience should be similar to playing at 30fps kinda defeating the purpose in my eyes.
    The only real saving grace (and I mean this respectfully) which I can see is even though the frame gen increases latency it could in theory smooth out the latency similar to how gsync/freesync work. Both of these technologies lock frame rate, and screen refresh rate, however in turn it also locks the games latency per frame which has a smoothing effect vs random latency/frame time spikes through the gameplay.

    • @Chobbito
      @Chobbito หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'd recommend locking to a steady frame limit that you can achieve (hopefully half of your monitor 30/60/72), use the frame gen method to double/triple the frames, and also enable the screen tearing option. Sounds weird that last one but it seriously improves input latency to make it less sluggish and I'm yet to actually see any screen tearing and it makes a big difference to playability.

    Pretty cool for controller games, on mouse it feels choppy. It's not the delay that is the issue but it's just stuttery for some reason. This goes away on a controller.
    I tested 60fps to 120 and 80fps to 160. Both with stable frametimes.
    For games with an inbuilt 60 fps engine cap like SOMA and the older Amnesia games, this actually does enhance the experience when you have that controller plugged in. So that's sick.
    I still haven't gotten the fsr frame gen mod to work in any games, wanna see how that compares to this. I'd assume this FG is pretty similar to the new AMD Fluid Motion Frames thing.

    So just so that I understand it right: You cap your FPS to 72 and make sure that you reach these 72 FPS constantly then you activate FG? Am I missing something? Why would I activate frame generation in a game which I have locked to 72 FPS and in which I easily reach 72 fps without frame gen anyway? Just so that it is "more stable 72 FPS"? I thought I am creating 120 FPS out of 72 FPS or something.

    • @nyxelithias
      @nyxelithias 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It doubles the amount of Provided frames. The reason you lock it at 72 is so that it doubles to 144 which is a common refresh rate in monitors. It is not a smoother 72 fps but rather 144fps

    So every time I use the frame generation and I only use the frame generation. I don't use the upscale or anything. It makes my game unlike absolute crap. I don't know how to describe it, but like I'll usually get like 144 FPS and then I'll cap it to 60 and then I'll turn on the frame generation and it makes it run at like 20 FPS with a bunch of artifacting

    No matter what i do i just get a better experience without frame generation. It uses like 100% of my gpu no matter the settings i use or the game i play. Fr im using the lowest settings and my gpu is only at like 20- 30% usage but as soon as i turn frame generation on it goes up to 100% immediately and my gpu goes up to like 85° C which is 10° hotter than it ever gets with normal usage. I can run a game at 144 hz and my gpu is at like 80-90%. If i turn the fps down and try to frame generate up to 144hz my gpu goes to 100%. So lossless frame generation uses more of my gpu then actual game generated frames lol. Also when i turn it on in game i cant even tell its on tbh. I tried the anime one while i was watching anime and that definitely worked

Is there a specific way we need to set up Lossless Scaling, or the game in question, to get scaling to automatically enable on launch and disable on close? If I play in windowed or borderless but keep the native resolution of my monitor, there is no need to use Scale Mode, right? In this case I should only use the LSFG like the way you put in the description in the Universal LSFG Guide. Or even if I run with the native resolution I get improvements using LS1 Scale Mode for example.
